1. Sewing Threads :(Technology, Stitches, Seams,Problems and Needles...)Era has gone when cotton threads
were dominant and technology
adopted to manufacture them were
kept highly secret. Spun polyester
threads which took the status of cotton
threads, now have become very
common and are manufactured byeven medium and small scale
units. This book has gone many steps
ahead by way of illustrating the details
of advanced threads responsible for
performing well in tough/special
conditions. The book also enables to
peep into the minute details of
chemical structure of raw materials
used in making high performance and
speciality sewing threads.

4. Norms for the Text i le Industry
(Spinning)
Norms for the textile industry (spinning)
is the result of joint efforts of the four
Textile Research Associations namely
ATIRA, BTRA, NITRA & SITRA and is
unique in the sense that such type of
publication is not available in any other
country. The book contains norms on
productivity, quality, manpower
requirement & engineering related
aspects for 100% cotton, blended, 100%
man-made and rotor spun yarns. The
information contained in this book is theresult of various inter-firm surveys,
consultancy work and shopfloor studies
and hence can be used as a benchmark
by the spinning mills to evaluate their
own performance viz-a-viz the norms
and take necessary actions whenever
required. The present book of norms is
much more comprehensive with lot of
new information which was not
available in the earlier norms brought
out about a decade ago.

18. Vastra Sanrachana (Design)- (Hindi)
This book gives an idea about the
manufacturing of the fabric of different
style, i.e. for clothing, tapestry or
upholstery, canvas, terry-towel etc. It
covers all sorts of fabric.
It gives an idea of parameters to be
considered while making fabric in
different style taking into account the
texture of the fabric subject to end use
like yarn count, reed pick, reed space
cotton/synthetic and all sorts of
calculation for making the fabric. It also
gives an idea of basic weave and
different common fabric with reed,
pick, warp-weft.
This book is useful to all the persons
who are working in weaving loom
shed, may be weaver/jobber/
supervisor and also to those persons
who are in textile trade.

16. The Market for Fabrics in Vietnam
and Cambodia 2002
The report prepared by NITRA in
collaboration with Protech India Ltd., is
of great help to fabric manufacturers of
India to tap the relatively untapped
potential markets in these two
developing countries. The study has
been based on a comprehensive field
survey lasting for a month followed by
intensive test research and interface
with Ministries and business houses
of Vietnam and Cambodia. The
samples have been drawn from
commercially most happening places
like Ho Chi Min city and Hanoi in Vietnam
and the capital city of Phnom Penh ofCambodia. Utmost care has been
taken to approach a formidable sample
size and to ensure that all categories of
garment units are covered so as to
maintain the representative character
of the industry. And finally, the data
collected has been compiled, edited,
coded, tabulated, analysed and
structured in the form of the said report.

21. Norms for the Textile Industy
(Chemical Processing)
The book on norms is a unique
contribution from the four TRAs and is
based on the results of several
inter-firm surveys, shop-floor studies
and consultancy work over the years.
These norms cover the quality, productivity of machines and
manpower requirement as per job.
The norms can help the textile wet
processing mill to obtain optimum
techno-economic benefit by controlling
process, machines and man-power.
These norms also suggest some
preferred process sequences for wet-
processing of textile material.

Textile & Appearel Booklets
(TABLets) aim to provide basic
information in a handy and easily

compiled these TABLets by collecting
information from various sources.
This is an attempt by NITRA to set
bench marks in professional
education for apparel industry. These
TABLets have been prepared keeping
in view the need for information
required by shop floor personnel and
students arising to become garments
technologists. These TABLets also
serve as hand book for all those who
are directly or indirectly involved in
textile & apparel manufacturing and
trading activities.
