Nikola Tesla
Nikola Tesla was one of the world’s leading scientists in electricity.
He is most famous for his battle with Thomas Edison to invent the light bulb.
The beginning
Nikola Tesla was born on July 10,1856, in Smiljan, Austrian Empire. He was a Serbian American inventor. He gained experience in electrical
engineering and telephony before emigrating to New York City to work for Thomas Edison
Working for Edison
In 1882 Nikola Tesla began working for the Continental Edison Company in France, making and designing improvements for electrical equipment. Later he was invited to work for Edison Machine Works, which he accepted. He said to Edison that he could completely redesign the company's inefficient electric motors. Edison said “There is 50,000 dollars in it for you” (about 200,000 dollars today). When he redesigned the motors and inquired about it Edison said it was a joke. Tesla immediately resigned.
THE INVENTIONS
He is perhaps most famous for inventing the Tesla Coil which is used in most televisions. He also invented the first types of radio controlled vehicles and prototyped a radio controlled boat at Madison Square Garden at an electrical exhibition.
