Story Ideas for 1950s B-Movie

Here are some rough ideas for the story;

Idea 1:

A scientist is running experiments on some nocturnal animals and humans, trying to

create humans that can see in the dark for military purposes. He is using some form of

radiation and an accident happens causing his test subjects to mutate and become

monstrous beasts, a humanoid nocturnal animal beast.

Idea 2:

On a secret isolated island. A scientific research base is creating all kinds of weapons and

the complexes main reactor starts to leak radiation which mutates the local wildlife,

making one kind of dangerous animal species more savage and monstrous than before.

These newly mutated creatures start attacking the base and killing the staff there. The

only way to kill these monsters is to use the experimental weapons on the researchbase.

The Story

A scientist is conducting experiments on three human test subjects. He hopes to

take traits from three nocturnal animals and inject their genomes into the test subjects.

This scientist works in a military base in Texas, which is surrounded by vast woodlands and

local to a small town. One night the scientist's assistant knocks over a canister of

radioactive toxic waste. She picks it up, but unknown to her the container is damaged and

starts to leak. Over night while its quiet and no ones around, except for the test subjects

asleep in their rooms. The radiation starts to mutate them, turning them into savage

animal like monsters. When morning comes and the scientist returns, he notices

the destruction in the lab and the test subjects are gone. The monsters have escaped the

base and are on the lose in the woodlands heading for the town.



Styles of The 50s

Here are some styles from the 50s era. Everything seems bulky and slightly exaggerated, example the

tail fins on the car. Lots of shades of browns too.

Rough notes for The Storyboard

• Starts of introducing how scary the film is with some writing

I thought the Hercules beetle would make a great monster with its intimidating large horns. It can fly and its not highly

aggressive which would fit the human character.
