Nigeria has 36 states. It’s Federal Capitol Territory is Abuja. Abuja is a planned city that was built mostly in the 1980’s. When it was built it replaced the previous capitol, Lagos.

Nigeria has an estimated 521 languages being used in the country. It has 510 living languages, two native languages, and nine extinct languages. The official language of Nigeria is English. English was chosen because part of the country spoke it and British colonization.

The national sport of Nigeria is soccer. Nigeria’s soccer team made it to the world cup four times. They also got a gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics.
