Step 1: Gather the Ingredients
• Ingredients: • 1 Betty Crocker Devil’s food cake mix• 1 French Vanilla Betty Crocker cake mix• 6 eggs• 1 cup of vegetable oil• 2 1/4 cups of water• Two cans vanilla icing• Dye: red, yellow, brown, orange• and green• Sunflower seeds• Green gummies for pickles
Step 2: Gather the Baking Tools• Tools:• 2- 8 inch round pans• Paper towels• Large mixing spoon or beater• Toothpics• Large mixing bowl• Measuring cup• One icing tip of your choice• One icing bag• Rolling pin• Cooling rack• 5 small bowls for mixing colors• Round plate• Spatula
Step 3: Prepare the Pans and Oven• Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.• Put a small amount of vegetable oil (1 tsp) in the bottom of two round
pans.• Using paper towel, spread oil over the bottom of the pan.• Now you are ready to mix the cake.
Step 4: Make the Vanilla Cake
• Beat French Vanilla cake mix, 1 cup of water, ½ cup of oil and 3 eggs in large bowl with an electric beater on low speed for 2 minutes. If you don’t have a beater use a big spoon and lots of muscle and get mixing until there are no dry bits left. Pour half the batter in each pan. Use a spatula so you get all of the batter out of the bowl.
• Put the pans beside each other on the middle rack of the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. Stick a toothpick in the middle and if it comes out clean it is cooked. If you listen to it, you will hear little crackling sounds. Put the pans on a cooling rack and wait 10 minutes. Turn them out onto the cool rack.
• These two cakes will be the bun of the burger cake.
Step 5: Make The Chocolate Cake
• Beat Devil’s Food cake mix, 1 ¼ cups of water, ½ cup of oil and 3 eggs in large bowl with an electric beater on low speed for 2 minutes. Pour half the batter in each pan.
• Put the pans beside each other on the middle rack of the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. Put the pans on a cooling rack and wait 10 minutes. Turn them out onto the cooling rack.
• This will be the burger. You only need one, so you can eat the other one as a treat while you are icing the burger.
Step 6: Mix The Icing Colours
• Red: a ¼ cup for ketchup• Yellow: ¼ cup for mustard• Orange: ½ cup for cheese• Green: ¼ cup for relish• Light brown: 2 cups for bun
Step 7: Assemble The Cake• Place one of the vanilla cakes on the plate and cut the top of so it’s flat.• Cover all the cake with light brown icing.• Trim ½ inch of the chocolate cake all the way around. Cut the top off the
cake to make it flat.• Put globs of red, yellow and green icing on the sides of the bottom layer of
the cake. • Place the chocolate cake on top of the bottom layer.• Put more globs of red, yellow and green icing on top of the chocolate layer.• Flatten some green gummies with a rolling pin and place on the chocolate
layer. These are the pickles.• Place the vanilla layer on top with the rounded side up. Cover with light
brown icing and a few sunflower seeds.• With orange icing use an icing bag and tip and put a strip around the edge to
look like cheese.
