Nicola has been our MP for the last five years – during which time she has campaigned tirelessly on local issues such as the need for long-term flood defences, getting investment for the congested A34, condemning inappropriate development on Port Meadow, and championing Oxfordshire’s thriving innovation sector.

She has also won praise for her national campaign against child sexual exploitation, Childhood Lost, which she started in response to the appalling Oxford child grooming case.

She’s done all this despite being diagnosed a couple of years ago with a rare syndrome which hasn’t affected her work for local people – but which it seems local Lib Dems are trying to exploit.

One disgusted local resident alerted Nicola to the Lib Dems’ smears: “A Lib Dem canvasser just used your illness as a reason not to vote for you,” she said – “told him this was disgusting and desperate”.

Nicola isn’t rattled by these dirty tactics: “I’m in control of my health, and trust that local people will see from my record how much I love representing them and my home constituency,” she says – “I hope they’ll let me finish the job I’ve started by voting Conservative on Thursday.” Anne-Marie Trevelyan

NICOLA BLACKWOOD – CARING AND CAMPAIGNING FOR OUR COMMUNITY

BORIS BACKS ABINGDON’S SMALL BUSINESSES

As PPS to the Business Minister since 2013, Nicola has fought hard for Small Businesses, helping to introduce new laws to slash red tape, end late payment and increase access to finance – not to mention voting consistently to cut business taxes since 2010.

Among the many local businesses Boris visited were the winners of Nicola’s #shoplocal competition, in which Abingdon residents nominated their favourite independent shops.

Boris’s message was clear: only a Conservative Government would back

■ On a surprise visit to Abingdon Market Square this weekend, Boris Johnson addressed a rally of local residents before visiting local small businesses in the Town Centre.

■ Nicola brought the Education Secretary, Nicky Morgan, to Abingdon & Witney College to congratulate them on their recent achievements.

The college recently won a Beacon Award for leadership – and has topped the league tables, with the highest success rate for apprentices in England.

Since 2010, the Conservatives have delivered 2.2 million apprenticeships – and have pledged to deliver a further 3 million if elected on Thursday.

Nicola has championed apprenticeships locally too, backing providers like Abingdon & Witney College and voting for measures to make it easier for businesses to employ apprentices.

She says: “We are creating the jobs and the training opportunities young people need to earn a regular pay packet and get on in life. I congratulate Abingdon and Witney College for this wonderful achievement in delivering for our local young people.”

■ If the Conservatives can hold seats like Oxford West & Abingdon, they need just 23 more to secure a majority in Parliament – and stop Ed Miliband becoming Prime Minister.

A vote for the Lib Dems or any other party will only help Ed Miliband and the Scottish

Nationalists who would prop him up in a coalition of chaos.

Don’t let Ed Miliband put the progress of the last five years at risk. Vote Conservative on Thursday to keep our country on the right track, and to secure a brighter future for you and your family.
