Vote and Election – Governor Cuomo Executive Order No.
202.26 on May 1, 2020NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Grand Island Central School District (the “District”) of the Town of Grand Island, Erie County, New York, will hold a Budget Hearing. Said Hearing shall be held for the purpose of presentation and discus-sion of the 2020-2021 District budget and shall be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 7:00 p.m., Prevailing Time, remotely via Google Hangouts per the Executive Order No. 202.26, in the High School Professional Development Room, 1100 Ransom Road, Grand Island, New York. TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the Annual District Meeting, Election and Budget Vote will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Prevailing Time, in the High School Gym, 1100 Ransom Road, Grand Island, New York, which vote will be on the following:1. To elect two (2) at-large members to the Board of Education as follows: a. Two (2) individuals to occupy three-year terms for the seats currently occupied by Ashli Dreher and Susan Marston. The terms will commence July 1, 2020 after expiration on June 30, 2020 of the terms of the above named Board Members, and will expire on June 30, 2023. 2. The adoption of the following proposi-tions: PROPOSITION NO. 1:To adopt a budget for the fiscal year 2020-2021.PROPOSITION NO. 2:To adopt the following resolution:RESOLVED: (a) That the Board of Education of the Grand Island Central School District, in the County of Erie, New York (the “District”), is hereby authorized to acquire various school buses and vehicles, and to expend therefore an amount not to exceed $685,000; (b) that a tax is hereby voted in the amount of
not to exceed $685,000 to finance such cost, such tax to be levied and collected in installments in such years and in such amounts as shall be determined by said Board of Education; (c) that the District is authorized to issue serial bonds to finance all or part of said cost, and a tax is hereby voted to pay the interest on said bonds as the same shall become due and pay-able; and (d) that, in lieu of bonds, the District is authorized to enter into one or more installment purchase contracts for the purchase of some or all of said buses and vehicles, for a term of not to exceed five (5) years; and a tax is hereby voted to pay each installment on any such contract.TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that all can-didates for the office of members of the Board of Education shall be self-nominat-ed by petition per the Executive Order No. 202.26. Each petition shall be directed to the District Clerk; shall state the name and residence of the candidate. Each petition shall be filed in the office of the District Clerk between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Prevailing Time, not later than the Monday, May 11, 2020. Each person nominated is a candidate to fill any of the vacancies as described above.NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN per the Executive Order No. 202.26 that the vote is now absentee ballots for all registered voters. amount for each purpose estimated to be necessary for payment to the Board of Cooperative Educational Services shall be set forth in full with no deduction of esti-mated State aid. Such statement, together with the text of the resolutions to be voted on, will be available upon request to resi-dents at District Office during the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Prevailing Time, weekdays, from May 26, 2020 to June 9, 2020 at each of the public schoolhouses of the District, on the District’s website (www.grandislandschools.org), or at any public library or free association library within the District.TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that addition-al propositions not requiring expenditures for the fiscal year 2020-2021 and the levy-ing of taxes therefore must be submitted to the District Clerk, 1100 Ransom Road, Grand Island, New York, not later than 5:00 p.m., Prevailing Time on Monday, May 11, 2020. Island, which are currently in effect and will expire unless further extended; andWHEREAS, the public emergency of the COVID-19 pandemic is continuing and I hereby find that the Local Emergency Orders should be extended;NOW, THEREFORE, I, John C.
