Candidate’s General Plan of ActionAcademic Year 2015-2016

VISION FOR THE COLLEGEA unified and involved CBA community. The experience for non-officers should not just be limited to attending events but they should be involved in the whole process from planning, organizing, and evaluation of events.

My vision is to create a fuller and more meaningful experience for each CBA student through creating more relevant events.

SPECIFIC PLANS FOR BAC

Closer relations with the CBA students and better hear out not only their concerns but also suggestions. Since they are the target market, by asking for their inputs, we are likely to encourage higher attendance in events because we’ll be able to organize more relevant and interesting events for them. We will provide a year-long avenue for suggestions, comments, and grievances so as to let students feel welcome to voice out concerns and insights. I don’t want the CBA students’ participation to be limited to just attending the events we organize but actually be involved from the planning to the evaluating of events. Through having open communication with students we get to know more of what they think and organize better events.

Of course, we integrate this by elevating the CAPH experience. We have seen how the CAPH has become a “breeding ground” for future leaders and we want to create more of them. I propose to make the CAPH experience even more fruitful by not just the project heads and council associates organize events and

then that’s it, but actually letting them volunteer and help out in other BAC activities as well. This will help foster better relations and let them experience BAC and interact with other students more.

With that we create a better perception of the BAC and its events. Making it centered on students and their needs. Again, I want to increase attendance in events because for what other reason are we organizing them for other than the students? We do not just organize events for the sake of it, but because we actually want to add value.

Q&A with the CandidateAcademic Year 2015-2016

Describe your leadership style.I have always believed in the philosophy of “servant leadership” wherein one is a servant first placing as top priority the needs of others. A servant-leader has the people’s best interest in mind and puts their needs first, even before his own. Working in a group, I know how to adjust and to capitalize on people’s strengths to make sure the team is effective and efficient.

What do you think is your most important responsibility if you do become elected as a BAC member?

To represent the needs of students in organizing events and offering services for them. I will uphold the integrity and excellence required of a council member and make sure not break the trust bestowed upon me by the student body.

Identify BAC 2014-2015’s weakest event/ project. If you plan to change it, what kind of event/project will you pioneer in its replacement? If you, however, want the

event/project to stay, how will you improve it?The Business Blitz could use improvement as to how it can better incentivize students to want to read it. Currently, it already has great content and the challenge really is just how to get students to want to read it. I would want it to stay because content-wise it is good but we just need to give the students more incentive to read them. I feel like it is easier on the eyes to read a one-page infographic summarizing all the important news/events. Once interest has been sparked, we will have there a link where they will be directed to the complete articles. To make it interactive, we can post questions about selected issues where answers can be obtained by reading the articles and have students answer them. As prizes we can give for example a free pass to a GPak wherein they won’t have to line up anymore—simple incentives that students would find relevant.

Comment on the involvement of the Student Council/BA community in University issues.

I feel like we are informed about the issues and do act upon them as deemed necessary, it’s just that BAC/CBA takes a different approach in tackling the issues.

What do you think is the root cause of the security threats in BA? What are your plans in sustaining security and

making CBA a safer place?I think it’s us students thinking “it won’t happen to me” until it actually does, or it happens to someone we know personally before we take caution. The requiring of wearing the ID’s for me is one way of helping keep CBA safe, making sure only students and faculty enter the building. However, what happens in the building let’s say if it’s a fellow student who steals, is not addressed. It’s really more on raising awareness and caution as to keeping an eye on one’s valuables. I believe we should continue requiring students to wear ID’s and to constantly remind them to not leave their belongings unattended.

What are your specific plans for the MBA students of the college?

During the recent Diligames I heard that some MBA students approached BAC and asked to join. Seeing as there are some who are game to join events like Diligames, I plan on organizing a day of activities

Page 5: NGIE, Chelsea - Councilor

where both MBA and undergrad students can sign up for to play and bond. Since some of our MBAs are already working and have respective fields they excel in, we can organize a “career talk” where we can tap them to be speakers. This way, MBA students and undergrads will get to interact.

What top councilor function are eyeing? Why? What identifying project will you execute?

I am eyeing the position of Operations or Student Relations councilor. I have said that I want to focus on making students feel relevant and to really get them involved, not only by attending events, but in organizing events. By going for Operations, I will be handling CAPH and tracking other projects. If for the Student Relations function, I’ll be hearing the concerns of students and fostering college unity. Both for me will have to work hand-in-hand to achieve the vision of a more involved CBA community.

Kung ikaw ay isang ulam sa BA Caf, ano ito, at magkano ka?

Ako ‘yung eggplant kasi special ako at laging hinahanap hanap. Affordable lang kasi parang si Rizal na nasa 1-peso coin. #Sense
