In keeping with the YWEA mission and vision, the 2019 “YWEA Asian Commitment” will be sending the Light across Indonesia and Thailand. By joining forces with the Girls Ministry Department, YWEA will make a lasting impact in the lives of girls and boys throughout Asia.

SEND THE LIGHT ACROSS INDONESIA AND THAILAND

Background Over 4.5 billion people live in Asia, making it

the most populated region of the world. Situated in this region are two unique countries, Indonesia and Thailand—vastly different countries and cultures, but each in desperate need for God.

This year’s 2019 YWEA will focus on sending the Light of Jesus to the villages and cities of Indonesia and Thailand.

IndonESIa Indonesia is an island nation made of up over

17,000 islands. It is the largest archipelago of islands that stretches the equivalent distance in the United States from New York City to Los Angeles, California.

The country of Indonesia is home to 3.5% of the world’s population totaling 268 million people. Approximately 44.7% of Indonesians live in rural settings referred to as VILLAGES. There are 182,000 villages in Indonesia that house 120 million people. The average age in this country is 28 years old which means that the largest group to reach are young parents with children.

Most unique to Indonesia is the fact that there are more Muslims located in this country than the largest 5 Muslim nations combined. Yet over the past 10 years in this dark massive strand of islands, God has been drawing people to the saving truth of Jesus in numbers that clearly show REVIVAL is taking place. Many Muslims are becoming Christian after they have dreams of Jesus reaching out to them in love.

The Church of God started in 1967 when we merged with a group of churches in Indonesia called Gereja Bethal Churches. Then in 1968, the Int’l Youth and Discipleship made Indonesia a YWEA project. That project built a Church of God Bible College, called Bethel Seminary, and to date it has graduated more than 3,000 ministers into full-time ministry.

Our YWEA 2019 project in Indonesia is to build a New Holistic Ministry Training Center in a different

region of this vast country to train the next wave of ministers to reach the 182,000 villages that house 120 million people.

This training center will be located on the strategic island of Sumatra next to a new Int’l Airport. This island is larger than the state of California. In this setting, we will build a holistic training center for Bible and Ministry training as well as to train each new Pastor in “Village Skills” like agriculture, animal husbandry as well as construction skills. Upon graduation, these Pastors will be ready to effectively share Jesus, help villages grow and raise food, and build houses and businesses to strengthen the village. This approach will allow the ministers to earn the right to share Jesus with their village.

THaILandThe 2019 YWEA Project will also target the

country of Thailand. Thailand is home to 70 million people. For the past two years, Church of God World Missions has been working on establishing a Ministry Training Center in Bangkok, Thailand. The population of Bangkok’s metropolitan area is 14.5 million people. Bangkok is a beautiful but dark city. It is estimated that over 1 million children are victims of child labor. It is also one of the world’s largest sex trafficking cities.

While Thailand allows freedom of religion, over 94% of the country is Buddhist and less than 1% of Thai People are Christian. In this context, the 2019 YWEA Project will join hands with Church of God World Missions to finish a state of the art training center to raise up leaders for the harvest. The training center will equip a new wave of ministers with Bible and Ministry training as well as multimedia skills to penetrate the Arts and Media Culture.

orPHanagES In THaILand Due to poverty and the impacts of the horrific

trafficking trade, orphanages are the best and last line of defense to protect and care for children at risk. The 2019 YWEA Project will also raise needed funds to help 5 orphanages in Thailand. These five orphanages daily provide a safe and loving place to live for 209 orphan children. Of these little children, 138 are girls and 71 are boys.

The 2019 YWEA Project targets stronghold regions where the false religions of Islam and Buddhism dominate. With spiritual darkness looming over these two huge Asian countries, we must act

NOW by SENDING THE LIGHT ACROSS INDONESIA & THAILAND. YWEA 2019 is focused on the ASIAN COMMITMENT in the following three ways:

•CREATE a Holistic Ministry Training Center to equip the next wave of Pastors to reach the 182,000 Villages across the islands of Indonesia. Each new Pastor will be trained in “Village Skills” like agriculture, animal husbandry as well as construction skills to effectively share Jesus, help villages grow and raise food, and build houses and businesses to strengthen the village.

•PARTNER with “Send the Light to the Cities” to help establish Ministry Training Centers in the world-class City of Bangkok

The Church of God currently has 10 churches in the country of Thailand. While the number of churches is small, their impact includes vibrant churches, a coffee shop, music and multi-media studios to mobilize young leaders. Church of God World Missions needs our help to finish the Lighthouse City Project to train ministers with innovative skills to share Jesus to the masses.

•RESCUE AND PROVIDE for Children in Thailand

Our 2019 YWEA efforts will also help 5 orphanages in Thailand. We will help over 200 orphan girls and boys by meeting the monthly physical needs of the children in providing food, clothing, shelter, education, and most importantly the love of Jesus their Savior.
