Reflection
The White Queen tells Alice (in Through the Looking Glass) that she could believe ‘six impossible things before breakfast’. Imagining impossible things may be child’s play, but practising them is another matter. Jesus makes a litany of impossible demands on would-be disciples: love your enemies, bless those who wish you ill, turn the other cheek, give without hope of return, neither judge nor condemn. In sum, ‘be compassionate as your Father is compassionate’. That’s the key to the conundrum. To recognise, accept and believe in the unlimited mercy of God is to be freed from the fear that cripples love. And once love is unlocked, a new world of possibility opens up.
The week’s prayer focus
For all who harbour hate in their hearts, that their anger will be disarmed and replaced with peace.

PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO SOUTH AUSTRALIAN ABORTION LAWS
This legislation runs counter to everything we hold sacred as Catholics.
Every parishioner is encouraged to take the time and make your views concerning the pro-posed legislation known to our Local member: Mr. Peter Trealor. His contact details are: Port Lincoln Office: 36 Washington St Port Lin-coln SA 5606. T 08 8683 0722. F 08 8682 5912. E flin-
Alternatively, you can forward an email to ALL STATE MP’s via the link: www.austfamily.com.au/sa-abortion
A letter from a prominent Adelaide gynecologist, Dr. Elvis Seaman, is available on Tom’s Table with further information about this proposed amendment. In the letter Dr. Seaman writes: As a Church community, I believe that, with few nota-ble exceptions, we have done poorly in supporting those women and their fami-lies facing an unplanned pregnancy. They are left at the mercy of a health sys-tem which fast-tracks women to abortion and offers no alternatives… It is our responsibility to love, care and support both mothers and babies in this painful situation, and to do all we can to ensure a future of life and joy to the full for them.
FAREWELL
It is with some sadness and deep gratitude that the Parish Family today says farewell and thank you to our respected parishioners and friends, Chris and Jack Bourke.
Their commitment to Sunday Mass, travelling the 65 kilometre return trip to Wanilla, is an example to us all. Beyond their devotion to the Mass and the Holy Eucharist, they have immersed themselves into so many aspects of Parish Life … Lector, Vinnie’s, Teams (of Our Lady), Men’s Group, Parish Pastoral Council.
We wish them God’s richest blessings on this new and exciting chapter of their life. May St. Isadore, the patron saint of retired farmers lead them to green pas-tures and flowing streams and intercede for the graces they need for a long and blessed retirement.
Please join Chris and Jack and our Parish Family as we say goodbye over breakfast in the Parish Hall after Mass today.

EXTRAORDINARY PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING (PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATE)
At our Parish Pastoral Council meeting earlier this week it was decided to call an extraordinary Parish Pastoral Council meeting on Sunday 17th March (10.30a.m.-12 Noon). This is an open meeting and the Council is inviting the whole Parish to participate. The main focus of this meeting is to explore opportunities for Faith Formation in 2019 and to provide a progress report to the Parish on the issues you raised in the Parish Survey last year. All welcome!
PLENARY COUNCIL: HAVE YOUR SAY!
Submissions are due by Wednesday 6th March 2019. PARISHIONERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO FORWARD THEIR OWN PERSONAL SUBMISSION. Forward your individual or group submission to: Plenary Council Team PO Box 747 North Sydney NSW 2059 or Email: plenarycouncil.catholic.org.au
Fr. Rob Egar, a priest of the Adelaide Archdiocese is promoting a petition which he will forward to the Plenary Council. The petition reads: We, as members of the lay-faithful, respectfully ask the Bishops assembled at the Plenary Council, to institute an Australia-wide ongoing process of catechesis in parishes and schools that will stress the centrality of the Sunday Eucharist in the practice of our Catholic faith.
If you would like to support the petition, please ADD your name to the list on Tom’s Table.

PLEASE SAVE THE DATES!
Lent is fast approaching and with it come the ideals of prayer, fasting
and reconciling ourselves to God. Where to start? Our parish is offering
small group sessions once a week during Lent. The Australian program
"Trust" is centred on each following Sunday's gospel reading. Through
prayer, reading , reflection and sharing we will focus on trusting Jesus
and one another. The program doesn't promise miracles but it provides
a path for you to walk with Jesus as we prepare for the wonderful
celebration of Easter.
On Tom's table there are sheets of paper showing a choice of session
times and days. Please feel welcome to add your name to a group. We
will need names prior to next Sunday so that group leaders have time to
contact participants.
SACRAMENTS IN ST. MARY OF THE ANGELS PARISH
Those in Year 3 (Reconciliation), Year 4 (First Holy Communion) and Year 7 or 8 (Confirmation) who attend a State School or Navigator College are advised that preparation for these Sacraments will commence in the coming weeks.
If you would like your child to celebrate one of these Sacraments with our Parish and St. Joseph’s Families in 2019 could you, please obtain a Sacramental Enrolment form from Gayle in the Parish Office or from Fr. Steve or Fr. Adrian.
Enrolments close on Friday 29th
March 2019.
GREEN FINGERS OR THUMBS NEEDED
The Parish is seeking a volunteer to care for the live plants in our Church. A weekly check and water and periodic feeding and trimming are all that is needed. You don’t need to sing to the plants. They hear enough great singing at our weekend Masses! If you can assist, please advise Gayle in the Parish Office.

The Parish has been asked to participate in the upcoming St. Joseph’s School Sports’ Day (Friday 15

what we do at the annual Carols on the Foreshore. If you can help in setting up, selling potatoes or making a coleslaw please indicate on the Volunteer List on Tom’s Table.
