In Asia, the concept of outplacement has gained acceptance by multinational and local organizations headed by global executives who are aware of its benefits. In a nutshell, outplacement involves the provision of both emotional as well as professional career management/job search support and advice to executives who have lost their jobs through organizational restructuring & related reasons. Overview of Individual Program 1) What is a career transition program? Your career transition program is a value-added benefit that aims to facilitate your smooth transition out of your employer, and into your next career/challenge. It is fully sponsored by your ex-employer. 2) What does the program cover? You will be assigned your personal career coach who will add value to your career transition in the following key areas. 1) Exploring career/life options – this will include the use of psychometric tools to ascertain your embedded life interests, key work values, transferable skills etc. In career planning, it is essential that you take a proactive stance and plan at least two steps ahead – you and your coach will work on this important aspect of the program together – what you have done in the past, what you are doing now, and where would you like to go. Failing to plan, is the same as planning to fail. In the current business world, employment i.e. having a job, may not necessarily be as important as maintaining your employability. 2) Pursuing your selected option. This could include job search, starting on your entrepreneurship journey, or both. You will also be introduced to the concept of a portfolio career. 3) Job search support – your coach will work with you to better equip you with the tools and knowledge for effective job search. He will simultaneously take on the role of job search coach and introduce your candidacy to potential hiring companies and headhunters/employment agencies. With this practical approach, you will be able to cover the job market, locally or in the region, much more effectively. A disciplined approach to financial planning will be shared to help you better plan and manage your finances in uncertain times.
