NICC Partnership with
Bellevue University The partnership between NICC
and Bellevue University is off to a great
start with eleven students attending the
first class. The classes are being
conducted via the VTC at the NICC
campuses.
The partnership affords students
the opportunity to obtain a Bachelor
of Science in Business Degree. This
program is a direct result of a team
effort including NICC Board of
Directors, NICC administration,
faculty and staff, Bellevue University’s
administration and staff, and the
enthusiasm and commitment of the
students.

The 2008 Spring American Indian
Higher Education Consortium
(AIHEC) Student Conference was well
attended. The college was able to
sponsor eight students to go. The
students who participated were:
Orlando Ike, Troy Munhofen, Walter
John, Amy Murphy, Stephanie Parker,
Curtis Alexander, Bradford Grant,
Lavette Saunsoci. Unfortunately, the
student who was ready to participate
from the Santee Campus had a last
minute family emergency.
The conference was held in
Bismarck, ND from March 16-20. The
conference consisted of academic,
cultural, and social opportunities for
our students. On top of the student
Dance, the Hand Game tournament,
and the Pow Wow, this year’s
conference registration also included a
Dakota Wizards basketball game.
NICC participated in the
Knowledge Bowl, Critical Inquiry, and
the Pool Tournament. The Knowledge
Bowl team consisted of Bradford Grant,
Stephanie Parker, Curtis Alexander,
and Lavette Saunsoci. The Knowledge
Bowl team lost their first round, won
their second, and lost in a close race in
their third round.
The Critical Inquiry team created
an excellent presentation. The team
was composed of Orlando Ike, Walter
John, Amy Murphy, and Troy
Munhofen. The team presented a 15

minute speech with an accompanied

The Pool tournament was an
impromptu competition. Walter John,

participated. In the end, Orlando Ike
brought home a third place trophy and
$50.00 in prize money from the
competition.
NICC would like to take this
opportunity to thank the Omaha Tribe
of Nebraska and Iowa for sponsoring
the van rental for our students. It was
unexpected and the students
appreciated it.
