Transition from Orcotape® OT-40 to Orcotape® OT-40N

The current revision of the Boeing BMS5-133 Type IV Class 1 lists both Orcotape® OT-40 and Orcotape® OT-40N on the Boeing QPL. Due to the focus on OT-40N certification that meets the new Reach Export standards as well, OT-40 certification to BMS5-133 has discontinued as from October 31st 2012. Please note that OT-40 offers the same benefits as OT-40N and the existing stock of BMS5-133 certified Orcotape® can be used until depleted. Avio-Diepen guarantees you will be provided with certified tape. OT-40N will be available as from January 2013

Qualification of Orcotape® OT-40N Aircraft Carpet Tape to BoeingMaterials Specification (BMS5-133)

Orcon Corporation has announced the successful Boeing BMS5-133 Type IV Class 1 qualification of Orcotape® OT-40N, the new lightweight, differential tack aircraft carpet tape.

With a typical weight of 4.5 oz/yard2 (153 g/m2), switching from heavier, cloth based carpet tape products to Orcotape® OT-40N allows for a 17 to 20 lbs (7.5 to 9.0 kgs) weight saving for most narrow body aircraft carpet installation projects. Of course, these weight savings are far more substantial on wide body fleets.

Orcotape® OT-40N is ideally suited for the use with aircraft carpets in heavy-traffic areas. It allows hassle-free removal and installation with as much frequency as needed. The tape’s unique design ensures that it comes away with the carpet without leaving adhesive residue or damaging the floor board. No additional floor board clean-up is required after removal. Orcotape® OT-40N handles easily during installation and requires no special tools as it is easily cut on-the-spot thanks to its unique scrim construction.

Orcotape® OT-40N is designed keeping the safety of our environment in mind – it meets and exceeds all currently applicable US EPA, EU REACH and Boeing environmental and material safety standards.

Orcotape® OT-40N, in compliance with Boeing BMS5-133, is designed to be applied onto the floor panels first. For applications that call for initial application to floor covering (carpet) backing instead, we would like to recommend Orcotape® OT-41N, a reverse wound version of Orcotape® OT-40N.

Orcotape® OT-40N is available in 25 and 60 linear yard rolls. Standard widths are: 1” (25mm), 2”(50mm), 3”(75mm), 4”(100mm) & 6” (150mm).

For additional information on this and other Orcon Corporation products, please contact your local Avio-Diepen sales representative.

The Bergen Cable Technology SAFETY CABLE System™: Easier to install, faster to remove!

Applying lockwire to bolts is one of the most time consuming, yet critical jobs in aircraft engine, airframe and component assembly. We still see customers in the

market who do not take the full benefits of the relatively small part of the market is using the Bergen Cable Technology SAFETY CABLE System™ : the alternative to troublesome and time-consuming lockwire. Compare the Bergen Cable Technology SAFETY CABLE System™ to traditional lockwire and experience that it secures fasteners during the manufacture or repair of aircraft components in half the time. Easier to install, faster to remove are the key statements for the Bergen SAFETY CABLE System™.

The SAFETY CABLE System™ consists of three basic components:

1. SAFETY CABLE™- Available in three diameters, 0.020, 0.032 and 0.040 inch and various standard lengths from 6 to 24 inches, three different materials - 321 stainless steel, 304 stainless steel and Inconel 600. The assembly consists of a fitting swaged on one end of the cable and the open-end of the cable fused to prevent fraying. (sold per quantity of 50 cables per size)

2. Safety Cable Ferrules - prepackaged in a spring-loaded disposable skydrol resistant magazine of 50 Ferrules.

3. Safety Cable Tool - the tool tightens the cable, crimps the ferrule and cuts the access cable flush with the ferrule all in one motion. Safety Cable System minimizes operator training, it installs in roughly half the time and the Safety Cable Tool is ideal for use in tight places where accessibility is limited.

Curious?Watch the instruction video in the pdf version of ADvantage on our website.

Special offer; To support the start-up of the Safety Cable System at your company a free Safety Cable tool is offered for each order exceeding 100 kits (containing SAFETY CABLE™ and Safety Cable Ferrules (equals 5000 closures) applications. This offer is valid as from today up to March 31st, 2013.

To place an order or receive more detailed information on features and benefits of the SAFETY CABLE System™, please contact your local AD representative.

New Line of Brochures for Avio-Diepen & AD-S&CoAvio-Diepen launched its new line of brochures during the MRO 2012 in Amsterdam. The new style contains crystal clear up-to-date information, uses lighter colors and creates more uniformity.

AD-S&Co, Avio-Diepen’s sister company which focuses on the helicopter aftermarket, also restyled its brochures using the same layout but using different color combinations.

Amsterdam, Aviation, ADvantage & Avio-Diepen came together on October 10th.Avio-Diepen organized an A4 fun event for its customers and suppliers during the MRO Europe, which took place in Amsterdam this year. After gathering everybody at a typical Amsterdam café, a vintage canal boat built in 1910 was ready to set sail for a trip through the Amsterdam canals and all guests were welcomed along with champagne and finger food. The trip took the party past all the sights Amsterdam is famous for and then set course to Jamie Oliver’s Restaurant ”Fifteen”. After a lovely dinner we set course back to the Okura hotel. We would like to thank all our guests for joining us for a great evening.

MRO 2012Avio-Diepen exhibited at the MRO 2012 in Amsterdam. We exhibited as part of the NAG (Netherlands Aerospace Group) at the Dutch Pavilion.
