ULTRASONIC SEALING SYSTEM

The ultrasonic sealing technology opens up many possibilities for processing nonwoven materials. In addition to the areas of application we already know, there is a large number of others which are still to be discovered. These are volume markets producing millions of units and therefore require a high productivity. This can be seen in particular in the medical care industry, where large quantities of disposable nonwoven products are employed. Based on our experience in the area of ultrasonic sealing of films, we expanded our application portfolio to the ultrasonic sealing of nonwoven materials. The rotational working method of our ultrasonic sealing machines allows a far higher output than machines working in cycles. Up to now, we are not aware of any machine manufacturer who produces and distributes rotational working ultrasonic sealing machines for this kind of application. Consequently, making use of the technical competence we could gain in the meantime, we have got an advance in time of which we can benefit together. We already successfully realized some interesting applica-tions in the projects described below.

Ultrasonic sealing in the field of medical care

Especially in processing nonwovens in the areas of hygiene or medical technology, the ultrasonic sealing technology opens up all new possibilities. In the production of e. g. disposable washing gloves or com-presses, the output greatly increases through the use of ultrasonic sealing instead of conventional meth-ods such as thermal sealing, gluing or sewing. This makes production much more efficient. The major advantage of the ultrasonic sealing technology is the high speed of sealing to reach the required high outputs.

NEWSLETTER February 2013

INDUSTRIES AND APPLICATIONS The wide range of raw materials suitable for manufacturing nonwovens (fleece), their comprehensive range of properties and the numerous manufacturing methods make nonwovens to an extremely versatile material:

Hygiene and care products

Baby diapers, incontinence products, feminine hygiene products, hygiene and care wipes, cosmetic tis-sues, disposable washing gloves

Medical care products

Wound dressings, plasters, bandages, surgical textiles

Cleaning products

Cleaning cloths, micro-fiber cloths

Filter technology

Air filters (e.g. breathing masks, motor filters for the automotive industry, dust filters), liquid filters (e. g. oil filters, but also filters for the food sector, e. g. tea and milk filters)

Textiles and clothing

Inlays for shaping and stiffening, heating insulation, base material for imitation leather

Motor vehicles and aircrafts, construction

Insulation and sound proofing material

CURRENT PROJECTS

Production of milk filters

To produce the milk filters, a material web is unwinded from a roll and folded. The material is sealed lengthwise and crosswise via ultrasonic sealing and cut to the required length by a rotary cutter. Finally the finished milk filters are transported by a suction belt and are stacked into a flighted belt.

NEWSLETTER February 2013

Insulation material for automotives

A material web is unwinded from a roll. The shape of the product is transferred to the material web by a rotational working ultrasonic-seal-drum and afterwards cut by a rotary die cutter.
