Great Writing from KW
Miss Wilms and the clever kids in Kindergarten have come up with a really cool story about a very hungry dragon. Here it is!
Michael was taking his dragon Hector to school.
Hector came from Jurassic Park. He was a fierce
fire-breathing dragon. Michael found Hector in
the jungle breathing fire at monkeys because he
was hungry and he liked eating barbequed
monkeys.
Michael was bringing Hector to school to show
for news. But Mr Hogan said, “No. He might burn
the whole school down.”
So Michael had to take Hector back to the
jungle to eat some more barbequed monkeys.

ARE YOU CHALLENGED BY YOUR CHILD’S
ECZEMA?
The University of Queensland is conducting research into
parenting children with eczema. Parenting a child with eczema
presents many challenges (everything from the daily
application of creams and avoiding eczema triggers, to more
general parenting tasks). The aim of this study is to understand
the factors that make the management of childhood eczema
particularly difficult, and to use this information to develop
strategies that might assist parents in managing their child’s
eczema.
If you are a parent of a 3 to 10-year-old child with eczema,
we would love to hear from you!
By sharing your experiences (confidentially), you will be
making a valuable contribution to the development of much-
needed childhood eczema management strategies for parents.
Results of this study will be made available to all participants.
To complete the online survey, please log on to: http://

to be posted to you, please email Katie Sillar

School of Psychology at the University of Queensland, St
Lucia QLD 4072 (Fax: 07 3365 6724).

Paul Kelly Cup Report
From Super-Coach Smith
The super strong North Lightning football squad
competed in the Paul Kelly Cup at Edward PS last
Wednesday coming up against Edward, St Michaels,
South and Balranald.
Over the 4 games there were some stand-out
performances , with ball magnets‟ Blake Marchant,
Jordan Hill, Riley Hillier and Blair Sartore showing
the same dogged determination as their team-mates.
Jordon Amor impressed, using his super-quick
reflexes to be first to the ball on many occasions,
while Darren Bassett rose above the pack to pull in 2
screamers.
Winners on the day were St Joes of Balranald.
Many thanks to the parents who assisted with
transport and especially to Steven Glanvill and Troy
Marchant for their match-day assistance, and to
whistle blower extraordinaire, Andrew Cochrane .

The Simpson and Thorpe Show Rolls On
Hot on the heels of their inclusion in the Riverina soccer team, Northies Lucy Simpson and Jackie
Thorpe have done it again, this time gaining selection in the Western Riverina Netball team to play
against Eastern Riverina as a final selection trial for yet another Riverina team. In what promises to be
a busy weekend, the girls will line up for the West on Friday and then hustle into a quick change that
will see them trade bibs for a jersey as they head to Sydney for the State soccer carnival which kicks
off on Monday.
We wish them well!

Late News-Praise for John Allitt
Dear Mr Hogan,
I am delighted to write and tell you about my previous week spent in Broken Hill for the Boys Basketball State Carnival, with John Allitt from your school, along with his mother Pat, as a part of our team.
John represented your school and our region with the upmost pride and displayed fantastic sportsmanship at all times. Although our results didn’t show many wins, we had a great time playing and I was always proud of Riverina’s spirit, effort and attitude towards the game, opponents and officials which many other coaches and officials also recognised.
I couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful parent group, who constantly supported myself, our team and the umpires and showed constant respect of carnival guidelines. We also enjoyed many social gatherings as a team.
Again congratulations and I hope your students individual efforts will be recognised by your school.
Regards
Justin Graham
