Travel time. It's hard to know whatto expect sometimes, especially dur-ing peak seasons or on 2-lane roadson which sight distance is limited.Trips to Marquette last summerwere no exception. So I experi-mented with several different op-tions with which to span thedistance between US 2 and Hwy 28.What seemed to be the busiest routewas 77 through Seney. A slightlybetter option was 117 through Engadine. The best option I found, though, is what seemed to be a lit-tle-used township or county roadeast of Newberry. I rarely spottedany traffic (and no RVs!), the roadwas fairly straight, and only had onestop. The temptation, then, was topush the speed limit on the side ofbeing fast, thinking that there likelywere not any law enforcement pa-trols nearby and I could get awaywith it. What? Should that reallyeven matter? The speed limit is thespeed limit regardless of who isaround to enforce it!

I need to watch the same thing in re-lation to God. While it's importantto set a good example in the sightothers, the most important thing isthat GOD sees. I can't hide fromHim... Not just actions, but heartand motives as well. Not in thesense of some cosmic "BigBrother," or a force waiting to zapme, but as a holy God who loves meand desires to mold my character tobe more like His. While His gracedoes cover my shortcomings, Ishould not take advantage of it, butinstead must try my best to live alife of integrity regardless of who Ithink may or may not be watching.

"You have searched me, O Lord, andyou know me. You know when I sit andwhen I rise; you perceive my thoughtsfrom afar... You discern my going outand my lying down; you are familiarwith all my ways. Before a word is onmy tongue, O Lord, you know it com-pletely... Where can I go from yourSpirit? Where can I flee from yourpresence? ...Search me, O God, andknow my heart... See if there is any of-fensive way in me, and lead me in theway everlasting." (From Psalm 139)

A kindergarten teacher was walkingaround observing her classroom ofchildren while they were drawing pic-tures. As she got to one girl who wasworking diligently, she asked what thedrawing was.

The girl replied, "I'm drawing God."The teacher paused and said, "But

no one knows what God looks like."Without looking up from her

drawing, the girl replied, "They will ina minute."

A Sunday school teacher asked thechildren just before she dismissedthem to go to church, "And why is itnecessary to be quiet in church?"

Annie replied, "Because peopleare sleeping"

One Easter Sunday morning as thepastor was preaching a children's ser-mon, he reached into his bag of propsand pulled out an egg. He pointed atthe egg and asked the children,"What's in here?"

"I know, I know!" a little boy exclaimed, "pantyhose!"

Has your relationship with Godchanged the way you’re living yourlife and loving others? Loving ALLpeople takes courage, trust, humilityand most importantly, the LOVE ofChrist flowing through us! God lovesunconditionally and nothing changesHis love for us; this is an impressivetruth.

Our unconditional love requires welove God first. Only He can providethe strength and ability to give thissame love to another person. Whenwe love this way it gives us a certainamount of power we must not takefor granted. It means we are obli-gated to tell people the truth withgentle, kind communication, withoutjudgment and staying by them to seethem to the better side of their diffi-culties.

When we love others with an uncon-ditional love it tells them that despitehowever disheartened they may feelor wrongs they've committed; some-one cares about them. The result ofloving others this way, are genuineconnections, personal transforma-tions and people empowered to stepout of their comfort zones and makea difference.

This quote by Paul Coelho, says itpretty well, “The world is changedby your example, not by your opin-ion. God is better preached in theway we live our life than in the end-less discourses praising our faith.” Ifwe want the world to know our Sav-ior, we need to love like Christ, witha genuine and intentional love.As Christians we have a responsibil-ity to express our love daily into thelives of others. So make it your per-sonal goal to live the way Jesuslived. Jesus, who valued all people, who welcomed the outcasts and sin-ners, who ignored the gossip and theaccusations, and went about the busi-ness of loving people.

There was a lot of Loving Like JesusHappening in the Children’s Ministryin 2016. Highlights include;• 20+ Children accepted Christ’s

gift of salvation• 10 Kids were baptized• 7 little ones were dedicated to the

Lord• 130 kids are registered in AWANA

• More than 60 People are serving weekly with children at Walloon.

• 44 Served in some way at Walk Where Jesus Walked

How Are You At Loving Like Jesus?•Dorothy Prins, Children’s Ministry Director

Page 5Walloon Lake Community Church Newsletter

Loving Like Jesus is;• Forgiveness: Forgiveness is achoice and not a feeling, whichtakes time and prayer. "Be kind andcompassionate to one another, for-giving each other, just as in ChristGod forgave you." (Ephesians 4:32)

•Sacrifice: Putting our own needs, desires and wants aside to focus onother people's needs and wants."Therefore, I urge you, brothersand sisters, in view of God's mercy,to offer your bodies as a living sacri-fice, holy and pleasing to God--thisis your true and proper worship."(Romans 12:1)

• Praying: Praying for people is anact of unconditional love. Especiallywhen we pray for our enemies."But I say, love your enemies! Prayfor those who persecute you! Inthat way, you will be acting as truechildren of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both theevil and the good, and he sends rainon the just and the unjust alike."(Matthew 5:44-45)

• Telling others about God: Christi-anity isn't a secret club. "He said tothem, "Go into the entire world andpreach the gospel to all creation."(Mark 16:15)

• Being filled with humility: Livingwith a humble opinion of ourselvestakes us off our own minds andfrom holding a first place position.Humility teaches us that God cre-ated us for His purposes and notour own. “Be completely humbleand gentle; be patient, bearing withone another in love.” Ephesians 4:2
