This fun and festive celebration was held at our James Street Campus where our students were served with a variety of Chinese cuisine such as garlic prawns, steamed fish, braised tofu, and a traditonal dessert of red date and jelly. WELCOME TO THE STUDENT NEWSLETTER! Welcome to the March Newsletter! This newsletter aims to keep you up-to-date with news and events happening within the college, as well as events around our wonderful City of Perth!

On 18 February 2016, we participated at the Metropolitan Migrant Resource Centre’s Employment Expo, which was held at the Herb Graham Recreation Centre at Mirrabooka. Our courses have generated significant interests among the attendees, and we assisted them to identify their interests and explored their career pathway options.

v We are delighted to welcome two new team members to Stanley College! We are pleased to introduce Jeffrey Knowles (Head of School - Vocational Education and Training) and Wei Teng Choong (Finance Officer).

WEI TENG CHOONG, FINANCE OFFICER

Wei graduated from Curtin University with a Bachelor Degree in Accounting. After graduation, she had interned at a tax accounting firm and also worked as a registered tax agent during the financial period for two years.

Wei is now studying her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Course and is anticipating to graduate in 2018. After the completion of the course, her plan is to go back to university to complete her Business Information System degree which she had put on hold in 2013.

During her leisure time, Wei enjoys doing voluntary work and sometimes she cooks and delivers free food to the monks in Jhana Grove Meditation Centre, and even help out in the kitchen on weekends!

JEFFREY KNOWLES, HEAD OF SCHOOL – VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Jeffrey has extensive experience with over 20 years working in various capacities in the Vocational Education and Training sector from developing both accredited and non-accredited training materials and facilitating various workshops and courses. He has undertaken various roles including consulting, training and assessing, development and monitoring compliance standards, operated and managed RTO’s.

He has been involved in providing academic leadership in various diverse industries from mining and resources, construction, business, management, security, OHS and risk management sectors to a wide range of clients. These have included Government and corporate clients to long term unemployed, youth at risk, young offenders and non-English speaking background students from Statement of Attainments through to Diploma levels qualifications.

On a personal note, Jeffrey has travelled extensively around the world and enjoys the opportunity to taste the various cuisines, experience the various cultures and sights that our diverse world has to offer.
