Our biggest achievement is the agency we give our students to plan, implement and assess their learning by embedding real world problem solving across the curriculum. Our KIDS TEACH STEM conferences have become very well known and our students deliver high quality training to both adults and other school students. Congratulations to staff students and parents who help to build our wonderful school community each day. To continue our work we are holding a community forum on Monday where students, teachers and parents will come together to continue to plan for the future of our innovative work. Book Week This year, the theme for book Week is ‘Reading is my Super Power’. Classes spent the week celebrating the importance of books, and reading some of the incredible short listed books. The library ran competitions for all year levels (which will close next Friday). Displayed through the library are some of the entries we have received, so please feel free to drop in and view them. Students also had the opportunity to so some craft activities with Steph during lunch and recess time. Our week of celebrations culminated with a parade of wonderful Book Week costumes. The imagination of children is amazing, and we were amazed at some of the characters that the students dressed as. Students also had time to share a story with their buddy class around the fire pit. Healthy Eating Rooms 9, 10 & 13 have been promoting healthy eating at school as part of their design thinking. Room 10 set up a healthy lifestyle stall, and sold a variety of items, which included fruit salad, yoghurt & fruit, chick pea salad, vegetable salad and freshly squeezed juices. Money raised will go towards buying a class pet. Room 10 students will write a persuasive

text to decide what pet they will buy. A big thankyou to everyone who supported the stall, which raised over $200.

Year 2/3 Central Markets Excursion

During Week 4, Rooms 5, 6, 7 and 8 visited the Adelaide Central Markets. We participated in a 90 minute guided tour where we learnt about the history of the Central Markets, how it has changed, stayed the same and why it is a significant local place. We visited stalls and had the opportunity to sample different foods including kangaroo, buffalo, turkish delight, apricot and prunes. At the end of our tour we had lunch and played in Victoria Square. A big thankyou to the parents who assisted us on the day.

‘I liked learning about the history, and my favourite food I tasted

was the fresh berry yoghurt. Kavya

“I liked eating the sweets. The tour guides who explained about the

market were interesting” Svetlana

A big thankyou to the parents who assisted us on the day.

Room 8 In Room 8 this term, we have been looking at past and present technology. We

began by looking at current technology before looking at how the piece of

technology began and evolved over time. Our class had a discussion about the

timeline of each piece of technology and what order their evolutions came in.

We watched some videos, looked at pictures and timelines to help us

understand the history.

In partners we began researching

about a chosen technology and

finding out more about its history.

Some of us researched about mobile

phones, lights, TVs, video game

consoles, vacuum cleaners and the

refrigerator. We tracked a number

of important evolutions to see how

it has improved over its history and how

each evolution affected daily life.

With our newly learnt information, we were able to look towards the future

and design what a future evolution of the technology would be. We drew the

design, labelling all of the features and adding colour. We had to consider what

colours would appeal to potential buyers. Using a number of different

materials, we were able to develop prototypes of our designs to show our

predicted evolution. As a pair, we had to come up with a justification of why

we think this is the future evolution of our technology and how it will positively

affect daily life.
