The City of Alvin currently has a multi-year program to carry out the vision of City Council in prioritizing the building of new sidewalks. At this time, new sidewalks being constructed on Willis Street will begin at Second Street and tie into the existing sidewalk at Hood Street. The section of sidewalk between Hood Street and Taylor Street will be brick pavers. This project includes new sidewalks along Second Street, House Street, Gordon Street and Sealy Street. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in April of this year, weather permitting.

The City of Alvin received a Special Recognition Award from the Houston Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) for the Nature Obser-vation Area at National Oak Park during an awards ceremony held at H-GAC on Friday, February 9th. This project was select-ed as a recipient for recognition on behalf of the 2017 H-GAC Parks and Natural Areas award program for Projects Under $500,000 category. The Nature Observation Area at National Oak Park was a collaborative effort made possible by Brazoria County and the City of Alvin Parks and Recreation Department. Funding was provided through a federal Coastal Impact Assis-tance Program grant. This observation area offers a unique in-teraction with plants, insects and wildlife native to the region.
Length of time working for the City of Alvin: 3 Years
What have you always wanted to try but never have? I have always wanted to drive a Monster Truck, I take the kids to Monster Jam just about every year.
What was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had? I worked at Larry Langford’s Christmas tree lot when I was in high school.
What is your motto or personal mantra? Work Hard and Stay Humble.
People would be surprised to know: I bought my first house when I was 25, and I can retire at 39 years of age if I wanted to, but I Love my job so I'll probably wait till I'm like 50.
