Quarter One Newsletter Ernest Everett Just Middle School 1300 Campus Way North, Mitchellville, MD 20721 ¡Hola! As most of you know, my name is Señorita Glenn and I am one of the Intro to Spanish teachers at Ernest Just Middle School. This quarterly newsletter is my way of getting information out to my students and their families about what is going on in Spanish class and what is coming up! So far, we’ve had a great year. Unit One was very successful and with some Spanish basics under our belts, we’ve laid the foundation for furthering our Spanish proficiency as the year continues. In addition to learning tons of Spanish words and phrases, we have had some incredibly fun field trips and activities in class. For example, The 7 th grade took a field trip to the national mall to see four of the Smithsonian museums – and I was lucky enough to chaperone! A few students also attended the Cirque Du Soleil field trip for all foreign language students. ¡Bienvenidos! Welcome! Free Evening Spanish Classes!  Think it might be helpful to know some Spanish basics for your job? Want to help your student practice their Spanish at home? *COME TO EVENING SPANISH CLASSES AT EEJ!* I’ll be teaching free evening Spanish classes for members of the Ernest Just Community – parents, siblings, Señorita Glenn's Intro to Spanish Class Newsletter! Additionally, we had a Zumba instructor come and teach 7 th mod some new twists on some traditional Latino dance moves thanks to Mary Ann Barber, Dominga Jones’ mother. With the beginning of the second quarter underway, we’ve got all sorts of interesting projects planned, including a “Facebook en español” poster project.. please feel free to contact me anytime if you’d like to discuss your child’s progress or line up a time to come visit our class. We’d love to have you anytime! Thank you for all that you do to support your student’s learning. let’s keep pushing our students towards excellence! Did you know that success inmiddle school Spanish could behugely helpful in high school? If your student does well in Spanish 1(which comes after Intro to

Spanish), they may be able to testout of Spanish 1 in high school, allowing them to take higher levelor advanced placement foreignlanguage courses during their fouryears in high school. High levelforeign language courses look greaton a college application!
