¡Hola! As most of you know, myname is Señorita Glenn and I amone of the Intro to Spanish teachersat Ernest Just Middle School. Thisquarterly newsletter is my way of getting information out to mystudents and their families aboutwhat is going on in Spanish classand what is coming up! So far,we’ve had a great year. Unit Onewas very successful and with someSpanish basics under our belts,
we’ve laid the foundation forfurthering our Spanish proficiencyas the year continues.
In addition to learning tons of Spanish words and phrases, wehave had some incredibly fun fieldtrips and activities in class. Forexample, The 7th grade took a fieldtrip to the national mall to see fourof the Smithsonian museums – andI was lucky enough to chaperone! Afew students also attended the
Cirque Du Soleil field trip for allforeign language students.

With thebeginning of the second quarterunderway, we’ve got all sorts of interesting projects planned,including a “Facebook en español”poster project..

Did you know that success inmiddle school Spanish could behugely helpful in high school? If your student does well in Spanish 1(which comes after Intro to
Spanish), they may be able to testout of Spanish 1 in high school,allowing them to take higher levelor advanced placement foreignlanguage courses during their fouryears in high school. High levelforeign language courses look greaton a college application!
