SECOND DEPUTY CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF AFGHANISTAN, MR. MUHAMMAD MOHAQIQ, ADDRESSING THE PARTICIAPANTS,ON THE 70TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY OF PAKISTAN IN KABUL

Salient Points of Ambassador's Welcome Address on Celebration of 70th Independence Day Pakistan: A stable Afghanistan is important for

peace and stability in Pakistan. Our cultural and historical affinities

manifested in far reaching people to people relations are the strength of our bilateral relations.

Nothing could shake the abiding people to people relations between our two brotherly and neighbourly countries.

In 2016, alone, we issued more than three hundred and fifty thousand visas for Afghans visit to Pakistan for medical treatment, education and business purposes.

Over the past four decades we have and would continue to support millions of Afghan refugees in Pakistan until they can return to their country voluntarily and with honour.

We have par t ic ipated in Afghan development with several welfare projects including 3000 scholarships and would continue to do so with US$ 500 million committed at Brussels.

Main Points from Speech of Second Deputy Chief Executive of Afghanistan, Mr. Muhammad Mohaqiq: I w o u l d l i k e t o e x p r e s s m y

congratulations on the occasion of 70th Independence Anniversary of Pakistan, on behalf of people and government of Afghanistan.

Cultural relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan are common and very important for both countries.

The understanding of both the countries according to religion and philosophy is also very important.

Allama Muhammad Iqbal's emotions for Afghanistan are very important and we have same for the people of Pakistan.

I would like to thank Pakistan and its people for helping Afghan refugees specially during the Jehad era and assistance extended to Afghanistan.
