Please support your student in completing the semester with enthusiasm, confidence and suffi- cient effort to do their very best. Organization of material, project completion, review and rest are all important aspects of an academic life of a student. Please support the student you are connected with to use their time wisely, consider their priorities and stay healthy in what is often a stressful time in their lives. Attached to this newsletter is the Exam Schedule. Within the sched- ule you will be aware of student tutorial opportunities. If the student you are connected to has a passing grade that reflects a comprehen- sive understanding of the course and their ability to demonstrate this understanding then we would encourage students to attend these tu- torial opportunities for continued support. If the student you are con- nected to is not meeting the requirements of the course then these tutorial times are mandatory. Teachers will inform stu- dents of their requirement to be in attendance on these tutorial times. A student not fulfilling their obligation to attend tutorial times and maintain their studies can impact further programming for that student at Alternative High School. January marks the beginning of a new year for us all. For a student in High School it is significant as well. Semester One classes are com-ing to an end and exams are imminent. Please support your student in completing the semester with enthusiasm, confidence and suffi-cient effort to do their very best. STUDENT DROP OFF AND PICK UP:

As the temperatures of winter get colder, it is important that student safety be considered when dropping students at school and picking students up after school. In the morning, the school is generally available to students after 7:30 am. Please wait and watch your student enter the building to ensure that they can enter. After school, we ask that all students arrange drives be-fore 4:00 pm. If a student must wait past this time, we have arranged with Central Memorial High School and the Career and Technology Centre that our students are able to wait in their lobby areas.

Alternative High School is only staffed until 4:00 pm and therefore we want to make sure students can be warm should they need to wait past the 4:00 pm time.

AHS PARENTS’ SCHOOL COUNCIL:

If you would like to be part of our Parent School Council this year, our meetings are sched-

uled quarterly throughout the year and the time commitment is minimal. Please come out to

our next meeting to acquire additional information.

Our next meeting has been scheduled for January 15 2020 at 6:00 P.M.

Parents’ attendance, energy and enthusiasm is all we need, however the contribution of this

group have a significant impact on the programming that is offered at Alternative High School.
