Cooler Classrooms Ive read a lot of current debate regarding air-conditioning in classrooms. Many traditionalists argue that they dealt with the heatwhen they were in school, therefore so should todays generation. I beg to differ. The workload of our students and staff require optimal conditions for peak performance. We know that students who learn in a physically comfortable learning environment are much better placed to do their best work. We know that students who are achieving and demonstrating improvement in learning are more focused and therefore the opportunity for poor behaviour choices is minimised. Why am I telling you this? I need all of our Bellevue Park Families to support our next major fundraising event. Money raised from The Colour Run will go directly into the rollout of air-conditioning throughout the school. In fact, our P&C has declared that all fundraising initiatives will pay for cooling the school until the entire rollout has been completed. The Colour Run will be a blast and more importantly, youll be supporting your child to be active while also contributing funds towards cooler classrooms. After School Collection of Children Our bell rings at 2:55pm. That means that students requiring pick up should be collected at this time. If you are stuck in traffic, or running late, please call ahead and let us know. Of late, weve had a large number of students waiting outside and inside the office, some until 4:00pm. This poses as a safety risk as staff supervision is not provided. Please have a back-up plan and research after- school hours providers close to the school. Didge Lessons Every Monday, we have didge lessons at school for local men and boys. Please, if a school-age child is attending, they must be accompanied by a parent. Our session starts at 4:00pm and we finish around 5:00pm. At lunch, we have a large number of boys keen on developing their sounds through the plastic didgeridoos and Ive been very impressed with the level of ability and perseverance shown by these students. The more the merrier, so please come if you are able. Cyber Safety Thank you to everyone who attended the parent cyber safety session, delivered by Ross from Internet Safe Education. Cooler Classrooms

I’ve read a lot of current debate regarding air-conditioning in classrooms. Many traditionalists argue that they ‘dealt with the heat’ when they were in school, therefore so should today’s generation. The Colour Run will be a blast and more importantly, you’ll be supporting your child to be active while also contributing funds towards cooler classrooms.

After School Collection of Children

Our bell rings at 2:55pm. That means that students requiring pick up should be collected at this time. If you are stuck in traffic, or running late, please call ahead and let us know. Of late, we’ve had a large number of students waiting outside and inside the office, some until 4:00pm. This poses as a safety risk as staff supervision is not provided. Please have a back-up plan and research after-school hours providers close to the school.

Didge Lessons

Every Monday, we have didge lessons at school for local men and boys. Please, if a school-age child is attending, they must be accompanied by a parent. Our session starts at 4:00pm and we finish around 5:00pm. At lunch, we have a large number of boys keen on developing their sounds through the plastic didgeridoos and I’ve been very impressed with the level of ability and perseverance shown by these students. Positive Behaviour for Learning

Next week’s PBL focus is about learning to “use whole school play areas correctly and know

where ‘no play’ areas, quiet areas and walking zones are”. This teaching supports students to

meet our school expectations to be safe and respectful.

Signage is used around the school to mark certain zones as reminders.
