Dear Parents/Carers

From the Principal

Due to some staffing issues that have affected the

ability to have all teaching staff available for

parent/teacher interviews prior to the end of this term,

parent/teacher interviews are postponed until week

one next term. Reports will be issued in Week 11 of

term, which is the final week of school.

A number of students have become ill over the past

few weeks with a range of different conditions. If

your child is on medication, please remember to

come to the office to sign paperwork giving us

permission to administer it.

The installation of the new septic system is almost

complete. It is expected that site clean-up will

commence this week followed by construction of a

permanent fencing structure.

Students have started thinking about the types of

objects our current student cohort could add to the

time capsule to replace its current contents. I asked

students to write a letter to themselves 25 years from

now, stating a little piece of general information and

what they might be when they finish school. Some of

the letters are hilarious so I am certain that for

current students who come back to the 150 Year

Anniversary of Macknade State School, will be tickled

pink when they read what their plans for the future

entailed, 25 years in the past.

From the Yr 3 to Yr 6 Classroom (Ms Jensen) In recent weeks the 3/4/5/6 class have been busy conducting science experiments involving the freezing, melting, condensation and evaporation of substances. They have also been observing reversible and irreversible change.

The students as always, have been very keen to be involved in science investigations and will complete their Chemical Science unit assessment this week.

125 Year Celebrations Committee News Hello Everyone,

Just a short note from the 125 Year Celebrations

Committee. At our last meeting, the Committee

decided to call for sponsors for the Book we are

compiling on the last 25 years of the Macknade

School, including some short snippets from the first

book. The way it will work is that if there is any

present or past student or family of the school who

would like to buy a page/s in the book, it will cost $35

per black and white page and $50 per colour page.

This will entitle you to have your name on a page/s

and also at the back of the book and a free copy of

the book. The books will also be available for

purchase at a cost of $20 each on the day. What a

bargain! If there is anyone who would like to

sponsor, please contact me on 47772715 or email

me at [email protected]

Also, there will be food stalls, tea, coffee and cake

stall, memorabilia, bar, kids’ rides, raffles and

displays as well as the digging up of the time

capsule. If there is anyone wanting to contribute

something to be included in the time capsule which

will be buried again, you can bring that along on the

night. I will let you know any further details as they

are decided upon.

The P&C Committee will be running the bar and the

cent sale so if you could possibly supply a prize for

the cent sale and/or donate an hour or so of your

time to help staff the bar and the ticket selling, it

would be greatly appreciated. You can contact Kim

Burnell (P&C President) or Keyla Byrne (Secretary) if

you can help in any way.

SENIORS’ SHIRTS

Our year 6 students have now received their senior’s

shirts. The shirts look wonderful and the students are

all very excited to be wearing them.

A huge ‘Thank You’ to Mrs Narelle Hampton, for the

great choice of shirts and for ordering them for our

students.

BOOK FAIR

Our Book fair this year has been a huge success.

Our commission of $217.00 was used on a great

selection of books for our Library. Firstly, I must

thank Leonie Geaney for setting up the glorious

display in the multi-purpose centre and also Alan and

Gloria Buffa for delivering the many boxes of books

from the Post Office. Thank you for your support

everyone.

COLES FOR SPORTS

Thank you everyone for your support with our Coles

for Sports Program. This year we collected 8,853

vouchers.

The senior class had to look at what was available for

selection online. As part of their maths enquiry, they

calculated our 2018 order to within 20 vouchers. We

now await the delivery of our sports gear with great

excitement.
