It’s hard to believe that we are now in our 3rd year of operation as a career center on SUNY Broome’s campus. Boy have we been busy! We value the relationships that we’ve built, and continue to build, with faculty, students, employers and community members. Our services and events continue to expand. This year the ALCC collaborated with the STEM division, Counseling Services, Student Activities and the Women’s Institute to execute SUNY Broome’s very first Career Week; a week packed with various career related events and workshops, including a STEM Employer Showcase, the Women & Work Career Panel & Networking event and Transfer Day. We had a great time and connected with over 500 students through these activities. We are also excited to announce the opening of our new Career Closet! This initiative seeks to ensure our students, regardless of their financial status, have access to professional clothing for interviews, jobs/internships, and career fairs for free. Mark your calendars for our official grand opening & ribbon cutting on February 21st, 2019, at 11am. More details to come. In the meantime, we look forward to the many great things in store for Spring 2019!

CJES Career Preparedness Expo, Sept 19

The ALCC once again partnered with SUNY Broome’s

Criminal Justice & Emergency Services department to

host the CJES Career Preparedness Expo. This annual

event provides an opportunity for students to speak

with area representatives from various law

enforcement & emergency service agencies regarding

careers, testing, internships & volunteer

opportunities. This year 16 agencies participated and

107 students attended.

 Career week 2018!! 

     Our first ever Career Week (Oct 29th - Nov 2nd) was a huge success! 

Throughout the week we connected with over 500 students as they participated in our many career-related events and workshops. 

Monday: STEM Employer Expo Tuesday: Women & Work Career Panel & Networking Event Workshop Wednesday- Linkedin Lab, Career Exploration Lab, Resume Roadshow, Build A Bear For Your Future, Purple Briefcase & Big Interview Demos Thursday: Transfer Day Friday: Fashion Friday-What to wear/not wear to a job interview     

Engineering Mock Interviews, Dec 12  

 

 Reps from Raymond     Corp, ENSCO, BAE     Systems and Universal     Instruments were on site       to “interview” students     in our Engineering     Science & Engineering     Technologies programs.   This event helps students       practice their interview     skills and receive valuable       feedback. 

 

  On-Campus Info Sessions & Recruiting Events  Each semester companies come to campus to inform students about careers and employment/internship opportunities within their organizations. Some companies go a step further and hold on-campus interviews for positions. This semester BAE interviewed and hired 5 students in our Computer Science & Engineering Science programs for Spring 2019 internships!    The following employers visited our campus this semester:

 We’re open for business! Students can now obtain professional clothing for interviews, jobs & internships at no cost!    Eligibility requirements include: (1) at least 2 appointments at the ALCC, (2) a finalized resume and (3) a reason, such as an interview, job fair, job or internship.
