A transport roster for our swimming week activities will be sent home with next weeks newsletter. During our gardening session on Friday we completed a number of garden maintenance tasks including, weed hunting, preparing our garden beds, scarecrow styling and mixing up a seed raising mix, before we planted some seeds to be planted out into our garden beds later this term. Thank you to Mrs Murphy and Molly for helping us out on Friday. On Friday we also began working on school blog, dedicated to our kitchen and garden activities. Students can access it from home if they wish to. All they need to do is go to their kidspace portal page, and log in using their DoE username and password, they need to click on BlogEd or access their email and follow the link to our new blog. Students are also reminded they are able to access both Reading Eggs and Mathletics from home if they wish. We launched our Book week celebrations this week with our Reading Buddies program. We looked at some of the Children’s Book Council Awarded books, we will aim to look at all of the shortlisted books throughout the week. We are following this years Book Week theme of Books Light up our World, by accessing as many of the shortlisted books as we can this week. We have set ourselves a challenge to complete all of the books on our book cards. Wish us luck! Yesterday we all enjoyed a Covenant Players Scripture performance. The covenant players perform all over the world sharing their passion and scripture through drama and theatre. We were very lucky to have this team come to visit our school and perform for us. This performance was highly informative and interactive, all of our students enjoyed being a part of the performances and working with the covenant players team. Thank you to Mrs Brown and Della for organising this visit for us. Our next Scripture lesson will be on Monday 14 th September. Today Mrs Brown gave out Operation Christmas Box boxes for our students and families to fill with their “somethings…” If you would like to donate to the Sumaritan’s Purse Charity and don’t have a box, there are boxes available in the office. We will also be donating a combined box from all of us here at Fairfax, if you would like to add to our box please send in your items to be packed. We also have further information regarding opportunities to donate to this charity available in the office. Rhonda will again be joining us for our Sporting Schools Cycling session on Wednesday afternoon, the Nobilo family will be providing us with afternoon tea to share. This Thursday we will be traveling to the Crossing Theatre for the PICSEA judging, we will be leaving school at 9:15 am and returning by lunch time at the conclusion of the judging. Students are required to wear their full winter uniform including a school hat. Thank you to those who have offered to assist us with transport on Thursday, please ensure permission notes are retutned by tomorrow, Wednesday 26 th August. We will be continuing our Kitchen garden session this Friday from 11:30 am where we will be cooking a shared lunch. This is a fantastic opportunity to encourage our parents and community to join us in for our cooking session, if you would like to join in and help out during or after our cooking session please contact us in the office. Our School photos have been booked for a summer photo this year. Our school photo day will be held on Thursday 8 th October, this is the first Thursday back at school for term 4. Term 1 – Week 1 Tuesday, 25 August 2015

Thank you to all of our parents who helped us

create safe egg droppers and mashmallow flyers

for our National Science Week homework task last

week, we all enjoyed testing out our designs, we

had a low flying marshmallow and some very happy

and safe eggs, we only had a few slightly cracked

eggs, most stayed safe inside their cleverly

crafted padding, there were many creative and

innovative designs, it was great to see many of our

designs aimed at slowing down the speed of the

fall and cushioning the egg once it landed on the

ground. This weeks homework task will span across

two weeks, students are encouraged to be creative

and innovative, preparing an ad for a book. Good

luck, we are all looking forward to seeing some

creative work at our Book week parade where our

projects will be on display.

As safe as eggs and flying marshmallows!! Happy National Science Week!
