Attention Actors, Gamers and Musicians! Introducing Reyn Williams from 5C who loves drama, music and coding games. He only recently started coding games but has already finished two! WOW! That's awesome news!!! What's even more unbelievable is that Reyn was asked to join the advanced drama class in his first term. He is even going to Sydney to perform in a play! So how did you get into coding and what is the benefit of learning how to do it? “I was inspired to learn how to code by Miss Radford during library lessons,” replied Reyn. He LOVES coding because he is able to use his imagination and develop problem solving skills. “I learn lots from coding and everyone should do it because it helps us be creative!” says Reyn. Reported by Ella H 6H and Nick B 6H

Welcoming Mr Dyball Mr Dyball is a new teacher in our school who is now teaching 6L every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. We asked him what he likes about our school and he replied with, “EHPS is a very welcoming place where learners are always engaged.” We know you will DEFINITELY enjoy teaching here Mr Dyball! “When I’m not at school I love listening to all kinds of music and going to the beach,” Mr Dyball explained, “but only when the weather is warm.” He has a two year old son called Dante who he likes to play with on weekends. We are very lucky and privileged to have Mr Dyball teaching at EHPS! Reported by Bella and Angel from 6L

Attention All Dinosaur Lovers! This is William H who is an expert on dinosaurs and loves learning about them. He knows many dinosaur names and can describe what they look like. At school he enjoys reading about dinosaurs and drawing them. William loves dinosaurs so much that he even has a SUPER COOL blue and green dinosaur Fitbit. It sounds like William might be a paleontologist when he is older. How cool would that be! Reported by Ella H 6H and Nick B 6H

Voluntary Contributions Future focused learning and technology will be a major focus at our school. You may have already seen some changes in the school library. Every year schools rely on and appreciate parent’s voluntary contributions. This year our contribution funds will go towards updating our technology resources. Family $70.00 or $40.00 per student.

BOARD GAMES If anyone has any old board games that they do not require anymore and are still in reasonable condition the school would happily accept them. Mrs Johnson is collecting some games for one of the social groups she runs and would greatly appreciate any donations. Some examples include Guess Who, Jenga, Blocks, LEGO, Twister, Snakes and Ladders and Connect 4. Obviously we would be grateful for any donation these are just suggestions of what would be great for the students. Please see Mrs Johnson if you have something you are willing to donate. Thank you.

Edgeworth Heights vs Glendale East PS (Seniors) The game was very close. EHPS was losing 6-4 in the beginning. The other team was very tall! At half time we were losing 12-8. The girls made a great come back and tied 16-16. Trash Free Tuesday Well done to all the families who took part in Trash Free Tuesday last week! It was great to see so many kids so proud of reducing their waste! We will be continuing Trash Free Tuesday all term.

EHPS War on Waste Students at EHPS are learning to be waste warriors by reducing the amount of waste we send to landfill in our regular bins. We have been collecting fruit and vegetable scraps in fruit buckets and using them to make compost for our gardens instead of putting them in the bin. When fruit and vegetable scraps go with the rest of our waste in our bins they end up in landfill and produce methane which is a greenhouse gas. This week we are learning to recycle our drink containers. We are collecting plastic bottles, aluminium cans and cardboard drink cartons to take to the Return & Earn vending machine at Edgeworth. The money we receive from our recycling will go into our Green Team so that we can purchase things for our gardens and our war on waste. This is a really easy thing for you to do at home too! You get 10c back for every eligible drink container you recycle in the vending machine. Find out more information at: https://returnandearn.org.au/

End of Term for 2R

2R decided to spend most of the last day of Term 2 playing Monopoly. We had a fantastic time organising

groups and bringing in the game. We ended up with 8 Monopoly games and we only needed 5.

We had 5 Monopoly games in one room with no arguments. At the end of the day, 2R realised that although

they had been playing a game, they had been reading and adding numbers together all day! Sneaky Ms.

Randall. We look forward to having another Monopoly afternoon soon.

KM were lucky enough to get a visit from Zala the reading dog. Some students read their reading books to Zara and her friend Mrs Adams. All of KM enjoyed talking to Zala and giving her a pat!
