Visit of Chairman Governing Body
The Chairman Governing Body, Commander Army Air Defence
Command, Lt General Muhammad Zahid Latif Mirza HI (M), visited
APSAC Humayun Road on 10th September. Senior Staff members were
introduced to him and after briefing by the Principal he took a round
of the school and visited Science Laboratories, Computer laboratories
and Senior and Junior Libraries. He visited some classes as well and
talked to the students about the importance of character building and wholesome personality development.
During Refreshment time he lauded the outstanding performance of APSAC Hamayun Road Students at SSC
and HSSC level in Board examination and also stressed the need of moral enlightenment of students to help
them become constructive members of society taking the nation and country to the pinnacle of glory.
Outstanding Performance of Students at HSSC and SSC Level
By the grace of Allah Almighty, once again the brilliant students of HSSC as well as SSC continued the tradition
of coming off with flying colours in Board Examinations.
In the Board Examination of 2014, in HSSC II Maham Fazal stood 3rd in Federal Board in Pre-Medical Group
securing 1026 marks out of 1100 i.e. 93.27% whereas Aminah Siddique stood 3rd in Federal Board in Pre-
Engineering Group securing 1015 marks out of 1100 i.e. 92.27%. Total 282 students appeared in the
examination out of whom 113 students secured A1 grade and 83 students secured A grade, making the total
number of A1 and A grades 196.
In HSSC-I total 286 students appeared out of whom 158 students secured A1 and 87 students secured A grade.
Twenty four students secured 500 and above marks.
In SSC-II total 293 students appeared. Twenty eight students secured 1000 and above marks and a total
number of 127 students clinched 90% and above marks. Sixty four students bagged 85% to 89% marks and 46
students bagged 80% to 84% marks thereby making the total A1 grades 237 and 48 students secured A grade.

The budding scholars of SSC-I broke all the previous records of the institution and out of 304 students who
appeared in the examination, 49 students secured 500 and above marks out of 525. Total number of students
securing 90% and above marks rose to 134 and 56 students secured 85% to 89% marks whereas 33 students
secured 80% to 84% marks thereby making the total number of A1 grades 223 and 59 students secured A
grade. With this best ever performance at SSC-I level the upcoming stars of APSAC Humayun Road reflect the
zest for education which, by the grace of Allah has become the hallmark of the institution. May Allah help us
take the graph of excellence even higher and give us godspeed.

APSACS Secretariat’s Award Giving Ceremony
APSACS Secretariat’s Award Giving Ceremony for Army
Air Defence Command Region for the years 2007 to
2011 was held at Army Public School & College (Girls
Wing), 208, Humayun Road, Rawalpindi. The Director
Education Army Air Defence Command, Brig Raheel
Ashraf (Sitara-e- Imtiaz Military), graced the occasion as
the Chief Guest and gave away Awards to the recipients
belonging to various Army Public Schools & Colleges of
the region. APSAC Humayun Road, Rawalpindi once
again took the lead by winning the highest number of
awards.
APSAC Humayun Road was declared the School of the
Year for the Sessions 2007-08, 2008-09, and 2009-11.
The Principal of APSAC Humayun Road, Rawalpindi, Brig
(Retd) Maqbool Ahmad, won the award of the Principal
of the Year for the Sessions2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-
11. APSAC Humayun Road, Rawalpindi also won the
award of Senior School of the Year 2009-11, Middle
School of the Year 2008-2009 & 2009-11 and Junior
School of the Year 2008-2009 & 2009-2011. Moreover,
APSAC Humayun Road, Rawalpindi also won the award
for Board Position in SSC Examination for the Year 2007-
2008.
Mrs. Irum Afzal, the Section Head of the Middle Wing of
APSAC Humayun Road, Rawalpindi, won the Section
Head (Middle Wing) of the Year Award for the Sessions
2007-08, 2008-09 & 2009-11. She also won the Master
Trainer of the Year Award for the Session 2008-09.
Mrs. Talat Khalid, the Section Head of the Junior Wing of
APSAC Humayun Road, Rawalpindi, won the Section
Head (Junior Wing) of the Year Award for the Sessions
2008-2009 & 2009-11.

Tasawar (Middle Wing) of APSAC Humayun Road,
Rawalpindi won the Teacher of the Year Award for
2007-2008. Miss Saima Niaz & Miss Sabiha Batool
(Junior Wing), and Miss Saadia Bashir & Mrs. Farhat Zia
(Middle Wing) of APSAC Humayun Road, Rawalpindi
won the Teacher of the Year Award for 2008-2009.
In the Session 2009-11, Mrs. Khalida Parveen & Miss Mehreen Ellahi (Junior Wing), Miss Sift Ellahi & Miss Saira
Razzaq (Middle Wing) and Miss Rabia Khatoon (Senior Wing) of APSAC Humayun Road, Rawalpindi won the
Teacher of the Year Award.
Two talented students of APSAC Humayun Road, Rawalpindi, Ruba Rehman (1st Year) and Mariam Humayun
(2nd Year) were granted Special Appreciation Certificates for their outstanding performance in an
International Level Essay Writing Competition organized by the Royal Commonwealth Society with the theme
“Me & My Net”.
The Chief Guest, Brig Raheel Ashraf, in his address highly appreciated all the Award Winners and wished them
good luck for their future endeavours.
Annual Prize and Sash Awarding Ceremony 2014
Annual Prize and Sash Awarding Ceremony for Junior and Pre Senior Wings was held on 25th April. Malaika
Tariq (IX Maroon) recited verses from Sura-e- Rehman and Tabbasum Fatima (X Brown) presented a soulful
Naat after which students from Junior Wing presented a Welcome Song. National songs by junior and Pre
Senior students and musical presentation by the music teacher Mr. Sabir Hussain was enjoyed by all. After this
colourful extravaganza the four top scoring students from class VIII and V received sashes of House Captains
and the 1st Position Holders in all sections from class I to VIII received class sashes. The honourable Principal in
his address appreciated the diligence of high achievers and stressed the need of consistent hard work to
ensure outstanding performance at all levels.
Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Scholarship
Aleena Khan, a brilliant student of X Purple was selected to participate in Secondary School Exchange Program
offered by United States Department. She also qualified to be a finalist for the 2013-2014 Kennedy-Lugar
Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Scholarship. She performed valuable community services in collaboration
with a U.S. host family and host School in the given time frame. She was awarded with merit certificates for
her outstanding contribution and for fostering mutual understanding by completing more than 100 hours of
community service.
For the session 2014-2015, two more students Hira Ramay and Adeena Ehsan got selected for the same
programme and they left for America at the end of August. We wish them good luck and pray for their success
there.
8th Asian Science Camp (ASC 2014)
Selected after a merit-based test and interview process by the National Centre for Physics (NCP), Shanza Faridi
of class 2nd year Green got selected among the top 8 Pakistani students to represent the country in the 8th
Asian Science Camp (ASC) 2014 which was held in Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, from August
23 to August 30. She was among 200 high school and college science students from all over Asia at the ASC -
an annual event, held since 2005, aiming at bringing together young science students from Asia and putting
them in discussions with Nobel Laureates and other eminent scholars. The activities that took place there
included lectures, cultural exchange activities and excursions. It was an enormously enriching platform
inspiring and motivating the students as they got the opportunities to meet Nobel Laureates like Dr. Sydney
Bernner, Makoto Kabayashi, Ada Vonalh, Aaron Ciechanover and Akira Suzuki.It was a great opportunity which
helped in broadening the horizons of students and inspiring them to excel in Sciences.
Annual English Debate and Declamation Competition 2014
On 27th May, the Annual English Debate and Declamation Competitions were held in the college auditorium in
which talented students of class VI, VII, VIII and IX participated vibrantly to display their competence in these
domains. The topics for Declamation Contest were “If Pakistan could Speak” for class VI & VII and “Happiness
Shared is Happiness Multiplied” for class VIII & IX. Zainab Alvi of class VIII Green stood 1st, Fatima Afzal of class
VII Red secured 2nd position and Hira Khalid of class VIII Green was 3rd. The topic for debate competition was
“Charm Strikes the Sight but Merit Wins the Soul”. Laiba Shah of class IX Grey clinched 1st position, Moiza
Faridi of class VII Red and Aleena Khewal of VII Maroon grabbed 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
In Junior Wing, on 30th May, Debate Competition was held. The young debaters, through their forceful and
strong points inspired the audience. The topic for discussion was “Is Internet Better than a Library?” Hiba Asif
of class V Grey clinched 1st position. Ayesha Mudassar of IV Green was 2nd and Huda Khalid stood 3rd.
Annual Urdu Speech and Elocution Competition 2014
The Annual Urdu Speech Competition was held on 29th May, 2014. The thought provoking topics ”PAKISTAN
HUM SE KIYUN CHEEN LIYA GAYA” for class VI- VIII and “DIGRIAN JALA DIJIYE AUR BAILCHAY UTHA LIJIYE” for
class VIII were nicely delivered by the young speakers thereby exhibiting their talent. Hira Maryam of class VIII
Pink grabbed the winner’s trophy followed by Afifa Khalid of VIII Red and Kainat Zahra of VIII Brown securing
second and third positions respectively.
In the Elocution Competition, the dialogue delivery, intonation and facial expressions of the participants
grabbed the attention of the audience. Zorain Zahida (VIII Brown) won 1st position, Aimal Waqas (VIII Brown)
clinched 2nd position and Abira Kiran (VIII Blue) secured 3rd position.
Spring Art Fiesta at Beaconhouse School
An inter school art competition was organized at Beaconhouse
School, Civil Lines on 2nd May and different topics for each level
were assigned. Ayesha Noor of V Blue won 2nd position in class
V category with the theme “Copying Masters’ Work”. Maryam
Azhar of VII Pink too stood 2nd in class VI category in Still Life
Drawing with the theme “Drapery with Hukkah and Khussa”.
Bilingual Debate Competition at A.Q Khan College
A Blingual Debate Competition was organized by Dr. A.Q Khan
College of Science and Technology Bahria Town Rawalpindi in
the auditorium of ACE International on 24th and 25th
September, 2014. By the grace of Allah Almighty, Arooba
Saeed (XII Grey) was declared the best debater in Urdu,
beating all the School, College as well as the Cambridge
students and was awarded Rs. 10,000 cash prize and Fatima
Masood (XI Grey) stood 2nd receiving a cash prize worth Rs.
3000. Ayesha Amir (X Green) and Fatima Gull (X Green) were also awarded Rs. 1000 each for participation.
In the English Debate Competition, by the grace of Allah Almighty, all four participants won positions. Nisma
Faridi (X Red) was declared the best English debater and was awarded Rs. 20,000 cash prize. In the College
Category, Sana Jaffery (XI Red) won the 1st Position, receiving Rs. 10,000 cash prize and Shanza Faridi (XII
Green) stood 3rd receiving cash prize worth Rs. 4000. In the School Category as already stated Nisma Faridi (X
Red) topped beating all the School, College as well as the Cambridge students. Farina Yaseen (X Maroon) stood
2nd winning a cash prize of Rs. 6000.
Badge Giving Ceremony for Meritorious Performance
In the 1st week of May special badges were given to the diligent
students of Junior and Pre- senior Wing who scored 90% and above
marks still due to the very high competition among top scorers could
not receive any appointment. To buck them up special badges as a
reward for their meritorious performance were awarded to them.
Themes Integrated in the Morning Assemblies
Earth Day
Earth Day was celebrated on 23rdApril to raise awareness about the
threats posed to the mother earth and the steps needed to conserve
nature. Ahvar Liaquat from VII Brown recited a poem highlighting the
bounties offered by nature and the wretched plight of nature inflicted
by man. Mahnoor Khalil from VII Green shared information about
Earth Day. Theme based display board added to the colour of the
event.
Youm-e-Shuhuda
The 5thYoum-e-Shuhuda was celebrated with zestful national spirit to pay tribute to the valiant soldiers of
Pakistan Army who sacrificed their lives to brighten up our future. Verses from Sura-e-Al-e-Imran were recited
highlighting the great stature of martyrs in the eyes of Allah Almighty. Malaika Roghani’s (VIII Blue) moving
speech written in memory of her martyr father touched every heart. The daughter of another Martyr, Izza
Afaq (IX Green), presented her poem appreciating the bravery and spirit of sacrifice of our brave soldiers. It’s
worth mentioning that the same poem got published in The Truth magazine as well.
Motivational national song by Eeshal Ehtesham (III Green) lauding the dauntless heroes of the country coupled
with motivational speeches reinvigorated the patriotic spirit of all.
Principal’s Day
Principal’s Day was celebrated on 5th May to acknowledge and appreciate the great guidance provided by our
worthy Principal Brig (R) Maqbool Ahmad and the tireless efforts he has been making to take APSAC Humayun
Road to the pinnacle of glory. Hira Mariam (VIII Pink) presented a poem to applause the worthy Principal.
Representatives from all classes presented Principal’s Day cards and the House Captains presented bouquet to
the worthy Principal. A vibrantly decorated display board added colour to the celebration.
Labour Day
To salute the dignity of labour, Labour Day was celebrated. Theme based display board highlighted the
importance of labour in national development and a poem and tableau by students of Pre-Senior Section
highlighted the problems faced by labrourers in general.
Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day was celebrated on 13th May to acknowledge the great stature of mothers in the eyes of Allah.
Fatima Farid of VIII Pink delivered a speech and a student recited a poem to express her regard for mothers.
Theme based poster also adorned the stage.
World Family Day
15th May is celebrated as World Family Day around the world to stress the importance of family as the basic
unit and the strongest building block for a nation. This day was celebrated in the morning assembly. A poem
and role play by students emphasized the importance of retaining, protecting and furthering the family values.
The Independence Day
Independence Day was celebrated with the national spirit which is a hallmark of Pakistanis. A motivational
speech by Fareena Yasin (X Grey) reinvigorated the patriotic feelings of the audience and performance of
students on the national song “Iss Parcham Kay Saey Taley” deeply engaged the whole audience which sang it
with the singers and waved flags to celebrate the 67th Independence Day of the dear motherland, Pakistan.
The Principal also addressed the students and stressed the need of national unity to uplift the glory of our
country and make it the most successful among the comity of nations.
World Environment Day
On 5th June, 2014 a Special Morning Assembly was held to celebrate the World Environment Day in order to highlight the importance of keeping the environment clean and healthy. Enthusiastic students from the Pre-Senior Wing presented a colourful tableau depicting nature as well as various pollution hazards and their devastating effects on our environment. One of the students also recited a thought-provoking poem stressing the need of protecting the beauties of nature.
To celebrate the world environment day a poster making competition was also held in the college auditorium in which a great number of students participated manifesting their pledge to conserve environmental blessings.
Singing and Tableau Competition
On 2nd October, 2014 a Singing and Tableau Competition was held at APSAC Fort Road, Rawalpindi in which
five institutions of Rawalpindi participated. Once again, by the grace of Allah Almighty, APSAC Humayun Road
Rawalpindi excelled by winning the First Position both in Singing and Tableau Competition. Eishal Ehtesham (III
Green) sung a melodious National song – “Ae Watan Kay Sajeelay Jawano” and won the First Position in
Singing Competition. The tableau on a motivational song “Uth Baandh Kamar, Kia Darta Hai!” by the students
of Classes V, VII and VIII also won the First Position. All the participants were awarded with Certificates and
Trophies. Reenactment of both performances in the Morning Assembly the next day was thoroughly enjoyed
by the deeply-engaged audience at APSAC Humayun Road and the assembly ground kept echoing with the
clapping of the audience. In the end the principal appreciated the earnest efforts of the Section Heads, the
teachers and the students for making their mark in the competition.
World Literacy Day
On 8th September, World Literacy Day was celebrated enthusiastically to
highlight the importance of Education in the lives of nations. A speech by
Rimsha Nazir (XII Brown) and the Enthusiastic performance of students on
the famous song “Suno Bacho Uthao Basta” engaged the whole audience
and delivered the most important message about education being pivotal
for progress to all.
Defence Day
To commemorate the sacrifices of the valiant soldiers of the motherland in the 1965 war Defence Day was
celebrated for two days with zealous national spirit. Aiman Shahid (XII Blue) presented a speech to laud the
bravery of our great selfless soldiers who sacrificed their “today” for our “tomorrow”. Motivational songs of
1965 war and students’ enthusiastic performance on them revitalized the patriotic spirit of all.
Grand Parents Day
11th September is celebrated as Grandparents Day throughout the world to make people realize the great
value of grandparents in the life of people. This day was celebrated in APSAC, Humayun Road, to inculcate in
students the great value of respecting one’s seniors. An enlightening speech by Tooba Ali (XII Maroon) and
poem of Altaf Hussain Hali by Hafsa Javed (XI Maroon) stressed the need of valuing the grandparents.
Special Assemblies for Top Scorers:
To laud the diligence of the SSC-I, SSC-II, HSSC-I and HSSC-II
students in the Board Examination special Assemblies were
organized in which the Principal appreciated the hard work of
students who scored 500 and above marks in SSC-I, 1000 and
above marks in SSC-Part-II, 500 and above in HSSC-Part-I and 990
Marks and above in HSSC-Part-II. The students of outgoing
second year with 90% marks were presented bouquets.
Investiture Ceremonies
In Investiture Ceremonies held in morning assemblies, the students scoring 90% and above marks in SSC-I,
SSC-II and 80% and above in HSSC-I were adorned with blue sashes to encourage them to excel in the
upcoming Board Examinations too.
Teachers Training Workshops
To make the teaching process effective and fruitful, this year too, a series of Teacher’s Training Workshops
were conducted before and after summer vacation. In this regard the sessions of Computer Literacy
Programmes are worth mentioning. AMS, aimed to help teachers know the various programmes and functions
of computer systems for making record keeping and paper setting an easy task. SMILE and INSET will surely
prove beneficial for the teachers in improving the quality of their teaching-learning activity at all levels.
An APSACIAN’S Excellence in Cricket Fajar Naveed (IX-Brown), the pride of APSAC Humayun Road, Rawalpindi, is a talented cricketer who has exhibited her outstanding play not only at Domestic Level but also at International Level. Initially she got selected in Under-16 Women Cricket Team by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). She was a member of the Pakistan Cricket Team that played the Under-19 Women World Cup Final against India. The match was held in Dubai and Fajar Naveed remained Not-Out at a decent score of 70 Runs. Presently, she is a member of Galaxy Cricket Club and has won Silver Medal for her excellent performance in
cricket. Furthermore, she has been appointed Captain of the Rawalpindi Team that will play Regional Matches
scheduled to be held in October, 2014.
11th Swimming Gala
Islamabad Women Swimming Assocciation (IWSA) held the 11th Swimming
Gala at Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad on 25th July 2014. A total of 24
swimmers from various Schools/Colleges participated. Hamna Nadeem of
7th Blue won three Gold medals, one Silver medal & one bronze medal in 50
meter free style, 50 meter breast stroke, 100 meter back stroke & 50 meter
butterfly.
Another Distinction in Fine Arts
“Sach Foundation” (an NGO) organized a competition with the theme, ”Forced Marriages”.
Fatima Waheed (XII Grey) participated in the competition and made her mark by winning a
cash prize worth Rs. 5000.
Provision of Cool Filtered Water
To ensure uninterrupted provision of cool filtered water Mr. Ijaz, our electrician, employed his technical skills
to perfection and erected two cemented water coolers which have a capacity four times more than that of an
electric water cooler. His successful experiment shows his dedication to his work and cool water is available
throughout the day in senior and junior wings.
