A council with a sustainable, practical vision that can cost- effectively meet the needs of residents and ratepayers. Local government that actively and accurately represents Eurobodalla residents’ interests to state and federal government. Candidates for the 2021 local government election who genuinely listen; who tackle key issues of concern and urgency and who safeguard the interests of all of us. What we've been up to..... Meetings with Candidates At the end of April the ABE executive met with the recently announced Eurobodalla Labor team who will be standing for election on 4 th September this year. The three key election issues identified by Eurobodalla Labor were good governance including honesty and transparency; building genuine community partnerships; and improving the livability of the shire for all age groups. Eurobodalla Labor has a ticket of 6, with David Grace the lead Councillor as well as the Mayoral candidate. The other Councillor candidates are Maureen Searson, Matthew Findlay, Claire McAsh, Deirdre Russack and Jack Egan. More information about these, and other candidates, will appear on the‘Candidates’ page of the ABE website : abettereurobodalla.org . If you know of anyone who is thinking of standing for Council in September’s elections ask them to get in contact with us at: [email protected] Public Appearances ABE co-convenor Bernie O‘Neil attended the April meeting of the Tuross Head Progress Association (THPA) to introduce ABE and talk about our key values and current activities. Let us know if you would like ABE to address your community group by emailing us at: [email protected] ABE members attended the Tuross Community Fair on the 5 th April to distribute flyers encouraging non-resident ratepayers to enrol for the council elections and to talk to the local community about their issues in the lead up to the elections. Bernie O’Neil presented at this months Eurobodalla Council’s Public Access session on behalf of ABE. Her presentation focussed on two key principles that are important for inclusive and accountable government – transparency and open communication. On 26 April ABE co-convenors Brett Stevenson amp Bernie OrsquoNeilappeared before the NSW Public Accountability Committee Inquiryinto the Integrity Efficacy and Value for Money of NSW GovernmentGrant programs The focus of this hearing was on the Round 1Bushfire Local Economic Recovery grants ABE identified someserious concerns with the proposed Batemans Headland Walking Trailproject which received a $525 million grant under this scheme Theseincluded whether the project could be considered ldquoshovel-readyrdquo andmeet the required timeframe for completion as well as the steeplyescalating cost estimates for the project ABE questioned whether thisproject represented a sound investment compared to other badlyneeded projects in the Eurobodalla such as upgraded evacuationfacilities and more robust telecommunications facilities which wouldincrease community resilience and assist in recovery from futureextreme events

Letters In early April letters were sent to all Eurobodalla business chambers(Batemans Bay Moruya Mogo Narooma amp Tilba) inviting them tomeet with ABE to talk about what is important to the Eurobodallabusiness community So far we have received a response fromMathew Hatcher President of the Batemans Bay Business andTourism Chamber who is keen to meet with ABE

During April ABE wrote a number of letters to Eurobodalla CouncilThese included A request for details of project proposals Council has submitted forRound 2 of the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery (BLER) grantsfund Questions regarding the activities of the Eurobodalla Local RecoveryAction Committee following the disastrous bushfires of 2019-20 andhow the community can access this information and The need for more affordable access to Council-run exhibition spacesin the Eurobodalla by the arts community and particularly local artistsnot for profit community organisations and art collectives These letters and Councilrsquos responses will be posted on our website ABE has also been busy over April putting up posters and handing outflyers through out the Shire We are regularly updating our websiteand Facebook page with new information and researching issues ofconcern raised by the community If you support the work we are doing and would like to becomeinvolved please get in contact with us atabettereurobodallagmailcom

know someone who does The non-resident electoral roll is now open for non-resident propertyowners or lessees to register to vote Registration forms are availableon Eurobodalla Councilrsquos website For an individual owner or lessee

then this is the correct form to use For multiple owners or lessees just one of the owners or lessees needs to be nominated to go on theelectoral roll and this is the correct form to use

As Eurobodalla Shire is not divided up into wards ignore the questionson these forms which mention wards

Please note that the forms on Councilrsquos website are normal PDF fileswhich cannot be edited so they must be printed out before beingmanually filled in ABE has created editable versions of these filesthat can be filled in electronically and these are available on ourwebsite here and here Council has advised that digital signaturescannot be used on the editable forms so once filled in the forms needto be printed out for signing before being scanned and emailed orposted to Council

Registration forms can be submitted up until 26th July 2021 but it isadvisable to get them in well before this date
