DISTRICT 8 NOVICE SINGLE FINALISTS On Sunday, Sept. 2, Angie Clark and Ted Stewart competed in the District Novice singles Playdowns. OLBA Novices are those with 5 or less years of membership. Eventual winners were Robin O’Toole (3rd from left), and Glen Trivett (far right). Congratulations to them and to Angie and Ted who had a great day and represented our club well. School Visits We have 2 schools booked for this fall. St. Mary’s will be returning for 4 days in late September. And for the first time, the Montessori school is coming for 3 Friday mornings. We value these visits, as not only does in bring in much needed income, but also introduces the sport to a generation of new bowlers. But we need Volunteers to assist. Our coaches will handle initial instruction, but we like a volunteer (or two) on each green to assist. Sign-up sheets are posted. The Tournament Trail Winners of the 63rd Annual D.C. Taylor Trophy, held at Roselawn on Aug. 15, were Katie Schuknecht, Sandy Weatherall and Johanna Hoita of the Chesley Lawn Bowling Club. Second place went to Joyce Yardley, Liz Guertjins, and Liz Boshart of Hanover LBC, and 3rd place to Lynne Lundberg, Wendy Calvert Morris, and Brenda Madill from Meaford LBC. Congratulations all.

Two of our own members travelled to Dundalk on August 23 and won the Foodland Trophy and the accompanying $200 first prize. Congratulations to Mike Gvildys and Linda Stinson on this win.

Mike had another win in Mount Forest on Aug. 28. This time he was bowling with Tom Garland from Walkerton, his former Novice teammate.

Roselawn Volunteers needed As you know, we are all part-owners of this club. It requires many members working together to maintain and operate the club, under the direction of The Board of Directors. They try their best to ensure the club operates as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

We have openings on our Board for next year. We are looking for dedicated Directors, members who want to see the club thrive and have time available to work towards that goal.

We are also in need of someone to coordinate group visits. This mainly involves communicating and finalizing details with the contact person, and ensuring we have volunteer members to assist on the greens.

If you can help us, please call or email Linda Stinson,( 519 416-6747, [email protected]).
