CAPACIT'E INFRA IMPLEMENTS CANDY + BUILDSMART CONSTRUCTION COMPUTER SOFTWARE TO COVER ALL CIPL PROJECTS AND H.O.

BuildSmart is a web & SQL based Construction Enterprise Accounting system, designed by construction professionals specifically for the construction industry. BuildSmart integrates Costing, Project accounting and Enterprise accounting for real-time analysis and the effective construction management.

BuildSmart manages all sources of project cost – Materials Procurement, Payroll, Subcontractors, Plant, Stock and Overheads allowing the construction business to track all costs by Contract, and by both Activity and Cost type, all in real-time. Four ledgers are used: Contracts, Overheads, Plant and Balance Sheet to provide the detail that effective construction business management requires. BuildSmart allows information to be entered where it produced – at the site or in the office, and to be processed and viewed wherever in the world a secure web-based connection is available through a strict and secure permission based system.

Role based screens allow each user to focus on the part of the process for which they have responsibility. Workflow is straightforward and logical, with the system managing the balancing leg of each transaction with particular attention to an accurate Work in Progress account. Drop down menus allow each cost to be accurately recorded by activity and cost type to permit an accurate cost analysis. Management reports are immediately available to those users with permission to see them.

BuildSmart is much more than an Accounting system. BuildSmart is a powerful Management Information System, allowing strict control of the Procurement process, and with Candy, allowing real-time comparison of what has been spent (BuildSmart) with what was expected to have been spent (Candy), all by Contract, and Activity and Cost type allowing timely and effective management actions, tight cost control, and improved margins.

Construction companies have historically had such great difficulty producing this information because information is being developed in many different locations and is organized in ways that make comparison difficult if not impossible. BuildSmart is a new generation of software, not a reworking of an old system, and these are the challenges that BuildSmart has been designed to overcome. BuildSmart is used in many of the world’s most demanding construction environments by very large and small contractors alike. YOU GET WHAT YOU DEMAND ! Housekeeping effort is borne out of attitude

Can a Site internally ranked at the bottom tier of Projects in terms of housekeeping transform itself to move up to the top tier

within a week ? One of our Sites has done that, proudly proclaiming, Yes, We Can !

What is all the more interesting is the fact that this has been achieved in one of the most congested Sites having restricted work

hours and inadequate work space. This would not have been possible without a change in mindset, overcoming the feeling of

resignation under the given circumstances.

This reinforces the philosophy that good housekeeping can only be brought about by a collective effort topped with

determined leadership. A coherent Project Team delivers what the Project Incharge demands.

Continuous effort is called for to minimize the cost of housekeeping, by planning the work sequence and the material handling

/ debris handling well. This is essential to avoid overrun with respect to the Project Cost Budget, even as the housekeeping

condition is maintained at an impeccable state.

Starting from Altamount Road Site, a number of Projects send Daily Progress Reports in pictorial form,

highlighting progress constraints where encountered, be it in the form of decisions / drawings / clearances

awaited or resource requirements.

FORMWORK Focus on Training & Development

The Formwork Cell of CIPL is responsible for preparation of the Formwork Scheme (conventional / modular

/ system / specialized) complete with the Bill of Materials and the Cost Budget (Consumables + Capex /

Hire Charges) in a cost effective manner, tailor-made for the particular Project having due regard to the

work sequence and duration. Once the Project is provided with the requisite resources, the Formwork Cell

monitors through a robust MIS reporting mechanism the repetitive usage and productive output of the

materials provided, including the plywood, system formwork etc. and tracks the consumption of shuttering

oil, nails etc. The Formwork Cell also conducts hands-on training sessions on using the formwork systems

and handling the various components in an expeditious manner involving minimum human effort.

DEVELOPING VENDOR RELATIONSHIP Series of measures lined up for a robust and mutually rewarding relationship

CIPL appreciates the contribution of its Vendors in timely execution of works at minimum cost.

Accordingly, CIPL is taking a number of steps such as empanelment of Vendors in Buildsmart system for

electronic requests for quotes, Vendor Meets & interaction programmes, proactive support for Customer

approvals, well sequenced release of payments on specific due dates etc. This campaign is to develop a

strong relationship for CIPL with its Vendors, so as to make it robust and mutually rewarding.

ENSURING STATUTOTORY COMPLIANCES Workshop on Compliances held for CIPL Site Administration Staff

As part of the continual improvement process, a full day workshop was held on 22nd February 2014 for Site

Administration Staff, on ensuring statutory compliances in a timely manner.
