Elementary schools will accept intra-district transfer requests for next school year January 1 through May 1. Parents desiring a transfer for their son or daughter must complete a form and submit it to the building principal of their current home school. Approval is contingent on the availability of space at the desired school.

Intra-district transfers are requests for a district resident student to attend a Mukwonago Area School District elementary school other than the one assigned according to where he or she lives. Home school principals will notify the requested school’s principal of the request to transfer. Transportation to attend a school outside of the home area is the responsibility of the parent. Students who are already attending a school as intra-district transfer do not need to re-apply, however, new family members would need to do so.

Intradistrict Transfer Requests

APPLY FOR OPEN ENROLLMENT FEBRUARY 6, 2017 THROUGH APRIL 28, 2017

The Mukwonago Area School District accepts requests for open enrollment through the Department of Public Instruction each spring. Open enrollment is available to families residing outside of the Mukwonago Area School District and allows students to attend a public school in a district other than the one in which they re-side. Please visit http://dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment/appeals form more information. Questions? Please telephone Laura Stroika at (262) 363-6300, x24101. Please Note: Students who were approved for open enrollment in prior years do not need to reapply.

Early Entrance

The Mukwonago School District is accepting applications for early entrance to Kindergarten through March 1, 2017. Early Entrance eligibility evaluations will be conducted for children who are not 5 years old by Septem-ber 1st only if the child will be 5 years of age by October 1, 2017.

To be eligible for early admission to kindergarten the child must be age 5 by October 1, 2017 and meet crite-ria set by the District in the areas of social-emotional, academic and intellectual levels. More information can be found on the district website, www.MASD.k12.wi.us, in Board Policy 5112. To apply, parents must send a letter of request stating the child's name, date of birth, parent name, address and phone number to Mukwonago Area School District, Pupil Services Department, Attn: Laura Stroika, 385 E. Veterans Way,

The 2016-17 Rolling Hills yearbook sale will run through February 15, 2017. A basic yearbook

is $12.25. Checks should be made payable to LIFETOUCH or you may use their online sys-

Order forms were sent home last month. Extra order envelopes are available in the main office.

VISION & HEARING SCREEN TIME!

Dear Parent/Guardian, Vision and hearing screens will take place at your child’s school this winter. First graders will receive vision and hearing screenings, and third and fifth graders will receive vision screening. Your child will receive a copy of the screening results. The form will indicate if no further evaluation is needed or if follow up is recommended with Physician, Optometrist, or Audiologist for further evaluation. Results will be documented in your child’s school health record and available to parent/guardian upon re-quest. If you have a child in second, fourth, or sixth grade, and feel they would benefit from a vision or hearing screen at this time, please contact your child’s school health assistant to request a vi-sion or hearing screen for your child. Thank you, Laura Heidelmeier RN, BSN Mukwonago School District Nurse

VIP Pancake Breakfast

The Rolling Hills PTO was proud to sponsor their annual VIP Pancake Break-fast on Wednesday, January 18. 673 Rolling Hills’ families had their selection of pancakes, sausage, hash-browns, fruit cups, milk, juice and coffee. This year they selected Knights of Columbus to be the pancake making experts. They made and served over 1400 pancakes in a little more than 2 hours. Amazing!! The PTO would like to thank all of the families for attending and for their generous donations. Thank you to the many teachers and parents who worked and to Andrea Cooper and Kevin Bischel for organizing this successful event.

Student Council Update

Pajamas, robes and slippers were visible throughout Rolling Hills on Wednesday, January 18th, our January Spirit Day. Perfect attire for the yummy VIP Pancake Breakfast! Thank you for the widespread participation! Febru-ary’s Spirit Day will be Wednesday, February 15th, a regular Early Release (2:35 p.m.) day for the students. Stu-dents and staff will be encouraged to show school spirit by participating in “Holiday Mix-Up Day”. Be on the look-out for details. “Feed the Dream” was an overwhelming success! Rolling Hills’ students, staff and families donated a multitude of items to replenish the shelves of the Mukwonago Food Pantry. All grade break-out areas were overflowing with the goodwill generated by all…toiletries, baking supplies, breakfast items, fruit products and condiments created a sea of plenty! In response to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s mantra, “FUN…Fierce Urgency of Now” we can resoundingly reply, “We care and together we will definitely make a difference!” Thank you to all! Thank you for your generosity! Again this year, Student Council is joining forces with our physical education teacher, Mr. Allen, to coordinate the upcoming Jump Rope for Heart campaign to support the American Heart Association in Wisconsin. Donation flier/envelopes have been distributed and lanyards with Rory, the lion can be seen throughout Rolling Hills. The actual jump-roping will occur during your child(ren)’s physical education classes the week of February 13th – February 17th. Remember, donations can be made online (see instructions on the flier) or turned in to Rolling Hills Elementary by Friday, February 24th. As always, your continued support for our community-service projects is much appreciated.

Did you know?

You can check online to see which library books your student has checked out! Go to our school website, www.masd.k12.wi.us and in the top right there is a “Family Login” button. Use the “Destiny” icon to log in to your child’s library account. Then choose our school, Rolling Hills, and log in on the top right corner.

Your student’s username is their network log in name, 4 letters of their last name and 4 of their first (ex: John Smith would be smitjohn) and their password is their student ID with a 0 (zero) in front. Your child is very versed on using this login information on computers and Chromebooks at school so you can ask them! Once logged into Destiny, you can go to the tab on the top labeled “MY INFO” and it will show the items checked out, date, and due date. Please let me know if you have any questions! Thank you!
