President’s Message

I sit; quietly, in front of my Jikiden Reiki scroll in deep contemplation. My eye is drawn to

the kanji the "ame" (雨) of the "rei". Rain falling from above. I love kanji! They express ideas that somehow transcend mere words. The rain can be gentle and soothing... healing; or pounding and breaking up...healing. The energy of Reiki, like rain, can come as a gentle or forceful presence; but, always it heals. Since my last message, I regret to tell you that my wife of fifty years, Donna, passed away. Throughout her journey Reiki eased the trip whether calm or stormy. When clouds gather and the storm unleashes, rain always falls and the power of its healing energy enfolds us. "Life begins at the end of your comfort zone."

Newsletter #4 of the Jikiden Reiki Association of Canada

Summer 2013

This year I was very fortunate to join the seminar in Germany again. It was the first time to be held in Frankfurt, thanks to Ute Vetter who invited everyone to her wonderful home. I was part of the group for Shihan training and an additional day for teachers only to receive new information from Tadao Sensei concerning the history of JR. Yohei Yamaguchi, one of his sons who is Shihan Kaku also was part of the seminar and we all were very honoured to meet him.

Here is a message from Tadao Sensei describing the event. It was placed by Jose Alberto on the Facebook page of the Jikiden Reiki Institute in Kyoto:

“Today is the last day of our Jikiden Reiki seminars in Netherlands and Germany. In total there were more than 100 participants. In Germany, every year a lot of participants join our seminar, and we have now a great number of Jikiden Reiki Shihan-kaku and Shihan (Teachers). Because this year is the 10th anniversary of the Jikiden Reiki seminar in Germany, we held a Shihan-kaku and Shihan workshop (Workshop for Jikiden Reiki teachers). There were also participants I met after a long time and it was a very fulfilling workshop. Again, the Jikiden Reiki Seminar in Germany was confirmed for the next year!! I'll continue working hard in order to spread Jikiden Reiki around the world. Cheers!! “

7 Daffodils was created by JRAC members to celebrate and increase awareness of the goals of the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) through a creative transformation: re-imagining existing elements in the built infrastructure as colossal daffodils. Seven of these eye-catching and attention grabbing flowers were in place throughout April, 2013 during the annual CCS Daffodil Campaign.

The 7 Daffodils were situated in downtown Halifax and near to the Lodge That Gives (CCS) and the QEII Victoria Building, Maritime Canada’s center for cancer diagnosis and treatment, and the Sunshine Room, where cancer patients and their care givers may receive Reiki and other complementary therapies from volunteer therapists.

“United by the daffodil, we will show people living with cancer that they don’t have to face cancer alone, and we won’t give up until all forms of the disease are defeated.”

“The "7 daffodils" project offered a glimpse of hope at the end of a gloomy Halifax winter. It reminded me of large scale sculptures that can be found in many cities in Europe. The project was not only inspirational, but offered hope for a brighter future.”

News:

The webpage www.jikiden-reiki.com is now also available in English and Spanish, thanks to Jose Alberto. It is changing all the time and the goal is to make it easier to navigate and also to find JR practitioner/teachers from all over the world. In the future there will be the possibility for teachers especially to have their own bio on this official page. If you are interested in that please let Ikuko Hirota know eeks@xf6.so-net.ne.jp.

In August 2014 there will be a Jikiden Reiki meeting in Barcelona (Spain). Masuro Emoto (“The message from Water”), who is friends with Tadao Sensei will also attend. TS mentioned that it is part of the 400 year anniversary of the friendship between Japan and Spain.

And who knows what will happen in 2022, the 100th anniversary of Usui Sensei’s enlightenment
