Swimming Carnival Congratulations to all students who competed in the Primary and Secondary Swimming Carnivals in the last fortnight. These opportunities allow students to step out of their comfort zones and what was evident at both carnivals was the support students show each other. Staff also play a vital role in these days and without their dedication and commitment to these events they would not occur. I look forward to following the students who qualify to compete at the next level. School Fete Planning We are well underway with the planning for the School Fete and are starting to get down to the finer details. Please encourage all your friends and family to come along and support what looks like being a fabulous evening of entertainment and fun. We are raising money to purchase a new school bus which is something that will become a valuable resource to help transport students to learning opportunities as well as many extra-curricular events. Assessments and Homework As students progress through the school system there will be different expectations in terms of work that is completed or done at home. By the time students start High School it is hoped that they have developed a home study work ethic. Homework however, should not be the source of family stress and Molong Central offers many supports for students who are having difficulty completing assessments or struggling with homework. If homework is becoming an issue for your child please discuss your concerns with your child’s teacher or Year Advisor. For senior students to be successful in the HSC a dedicated study program is required. There are consequences for secondary students who fail to submit assessments so please encourage your child to communicate with their teachers if they are having difficulty in this area. There is a homework centre that operates each Wednesday and we will be looking to expand on this if the need becomes greater. MCS Fete – Design- a- Poster Competition Winners Congratulations to the following students who took out prizes in the recent Design–A-Poster Competition, held as a promotional activity for our upcoming School Fete. All posters were judged by myself (Michelle Barrett) and Mrs Claire Ryan (Art teacher). 1st Place went to Jake Gavin, Year 3(his poster is displayed in the Molong Pharmacy window), 2nd Place went to Chloe Brouff, Year 5 (her poster is on display in the Molong Bakery Window) and 3rd Place went to Chelci Hanrahan, Year 5 (her poster on display inside the Molong Newsagency). Every entrant received a Merit Award and all other posters are on display on the classroom doors of our individual entrants. Thank you to everyone who participated and once again congratulations to our winners.

PEER SUPPORT
During term 1 Molong Central School students are involved in
the Peer Support Program.
Each week, groups of Year 7-8 students will meet with 2-3 Peer
Leaders from Year 10/11 and work through a range of activities
that focus on resilience. Meeting in small groups allows
meaningful connections to form, assisting students with the
transition to secondary school. Over a period of 8 weeks
students will acknowledge their strengths and achievements
identify people who support them and learn how to view
challenges as opportunity for growth.
For additional reading and resources to support your child
please visit the parent tab on the Peer Support Australia
Website. www.peersupport.edu.au or contact myself me here at
MCS.

Rotarians are in attendance 24/7 and all meals are provided.
Cost is $270 and Molong Rotary will pay 1/3rd of the costs to
financially support MCS students. Please see Mrs Clark as
soon as possible if interested.

SPORT AT MCS Wednesday has turned out to be quite an active sports day for the secondary school this term. As well as the traditional Wednesday afternoon sport, period 1 each week sees students from years 7 – 12 competing for the coveted Quiggy Cup (naming rights by Mrs Cate Loud!) Throughout the term, 12 teams compete in a round robin type format involving 3 different sports; currently Netball, Touch Football and Volleyball. Each team will receive points depending on win, loss or draw, with bonus points on offer for exemplary skills and sportsmanship. At the end of the term, the team with the most points will take out the cup as well as being shouted lunch by Mrs Quigley. At the end of the year, the team that has been the most successful will enjoy the spoils of their victory with a special day being organised for them. The cup has been received well and I am delighted to have the MCS Sporting Leaders from years 10 and 11 running the majority of the sessions. On their first week, they demonstrated high levels of organisation and motivation skills as well as making the sports enjoyable for all. Well done! Mrs Jane Quigley,
Sports Faculty.

Hi Everyone,
On the 14th February each year ‘Library Lovers’ Day’ is
celebrated. Our school Library will be supporting this special
event during Week 4 so that students K-12 all have the
opportunity to have a ‘blind date’ with a book or just come
and borrow a title they have been keen to read. It is a great
way to acknowledge the role of the Library within the
school. Expect to see a lot of hearts around this week.
At the upcoming School Fete Mrs Schaefer, Mrs Quinn and I
will be overseeing the 2nd Hand Book Stall. We are eager
to offer an appealing assortment of books for all ages. To
achieve this goal we are asking the school community if
they can donate any books that are in good condition to
sell on the day. Both Fiction and non-fiction titles would be
great. Donations can be left at the Library.
Class Dojo notes with students’ & parents’ codes have now
been sent home. Thank you to all the parents who have
now joined me on Class Dojo. It was lovely to make
contact with you and let you know what is happening in
the Library!
Love a book this week! Mrs Hall
