DESIGN & DÉCOR MELBOURNE 2017 : This year we attended Design and Décor in Melbourne. We managed to discover many new

trends and found s ome wonderful Design pieces. Unique /Interesting and more Natural Design is in this next year! Brass is the NEW metal – silver metallic will re - surface in 2018. Powdery Pinks are very now with golds and greys along with corals and Nudes – these will

Royals and Navies will be the new Black

LIGHTER WOODS WITH SCANDINAVIAN

INSPIRATIONS

Lighter woods will be used liberally in a straw

to blonde colours. There will be a look more

related to nature and a tactile trend will

appear. I love the natural rawness of this trend

SUSTAINABLE MODERN DESIGN

We will be using bioplastics and re-cycled

materials to gain a low impact for the

environment. This is a temporary Nordic-style

restaurant made entirely from recycled and

recycle materials, was commissioned by the

Finnish Cultural Institute in New York. It has

been featured during the WantedDesign

Manhattan event at NYCxDesign.

WASI SABI. ( Japanese philosophy in find i ng BEAUTY in IMPERFECTION) is the go .

People are preferring things worn - giving more character and

texture …… Crackled effects, weathering & oxidisation. Dark

woods and Earthy tones are back. There will be a sh ift away from the Scandinavian Look - Rosewood, Walnut,

Mango wood along with Charring effects will be popular.

WINDOW FURNISHINGS:

Curtains are returning with a vengeance both in plains, and patterns Some are opting for pattern but most enjoying floaty, natural Linen Sheers. Phone Jennie to give you the most creative, suitable curtain option. She will also help with your heading and track options. We have an enormous range of samples to work with. We still provide numerous options of Blinds and Shutters – along with our Fabric Roman & Roller Blinds.

SOURCING FURNITURE & UPHOLSTERY:

Can’t F ind that special piece of Furniture ? Jennie can find anything for you and we also can provide Custom Lounges and Chair s . We can even send you to the factory to have your s ofas or Chairs Custom made to your required measurements. Along with this we can organis e all your Upholstery and re - vamp your old furniture.

WALLPAPER:

We have huge ranges to choose from. Do make an appointment and come in and select from our

l ibrary. Our Customers at present tend to be using wallpaper more as a feature wall - not on all walls

in a room.

COMMERCIAL WORK:

Yes, we are still doing some wonderful Commercial projects. light in this area was being chosen by Kaloma Home in Goondiwindi to do their whole Design Project

mplete supply of Window Furnishings , F urniture and Fabrics for their new 32 Bed Extension. The complete installation was completed earlier in the year. It was a rewarding and Challenging project with a great end response. Great care was taken to give the facility a more fresh, homely environment. Thank you to Penni Roberts C.E.O. & the Board for trusting me to fulfi l their project.

This style promotes Comfort with

contemporary styles …… a modern version of

classic times using some classic pieces.

GREY

Grey is the Colour of the year. It

is supposed to connect

technology and modernity for

elegant spaces it has been

flogged to death for around 10

years and quite frankly I am

becoming tired of it. It can be

quite un-emotive and cold &

has been greatly over – used.

To me it is quite commercial

and can look like a Government

Building.

However, it is the Pundits

Choice for this year.

These are for-ever popular for those NOT so

FACE LINE GRAPHIC ART

This is a “buzzing” design element at

present. This graphic art trend is being used

through the Millennial Generation.

INDUSTRIAL INTERIOR STYLE

This style is for Multi-purpose environments. It is re -using old office

buildings, factories, and retail spaces for Modern living. I love this

fabulous style of living.

DESIGN AND TRADE SHOWS

Sadly, due to Covid 19 we were unable to attend these this

year. These events were cancelled. Hopefully they will be

in full swing again in Winter 2021. Instead we took a much

needed 5 days off and headed OUTBACK Qld. We visited

Cunnamulla, Charleville, Quilpie, Windorah, Stonehenge,

Longreach, Roma and then home. It was a quick, but

refreshing trip.

The country hospitality folk need support and we could not

fault one place we stayed at. We saw some very interesting

country, continually changing. Some ares are still very dry

and others quite lush.

We do pray you all receive rain before Xmas. A FEW DAYS

OFF WITH A DIFFERENCE!
