Hi everyone What a busy month- hard to believe it’s over and that we were able to fit
in everything in- the 12& Under Carnival, the Olympics, 3 Dive In Club
nights and NSW Short Course State. Our swimmers did so well at the
State Championships and it was great seeing some of our younger
swimmers who had made it to that level for the first time.
I think all of our older swimmers would agree that the highlight of the
Championships was seeing their first coach Bob McEvoy there again on
pool deck. We were all so happy to see both him and Sandra there.

Our Dive Right In nights were a lot of fun and we would like to
welcome the new families who came along to try us out. A big thank
you to Manuel for organising all the promotional material and the
donations. Thank you also to Mr Matt Rees- Jones from Coca-Cola
and Mr Prash Kumar from DE coffee for donating all those lovely
drinks and Moccona Coffee. And thank you to Centric Dental Views
for the decorations and nibblies for the evenings :)
Our next major event will be the St Peter’s Spring Fair on Saturday
10th September- we will need volunteers throughout the day to man the
stall, talk to families, promote the club etc- please let Amanda, Manuel
or Marcea know if you can help even for an hour or so on the day :)
Don’t forget to put your entries in for Winter Club Championships.
These will be held on 16th and 23rd September. Entries need to be in by
9th September and can be done on the single entry cards. The club
website has the link to the program.
Looking forward to the warmer weather, and a busy summer ahead.
Cheers

Coaches corner Wow massive results from the Campbelltown swimmers who represented the club
on the weekend at the NSW Short Course State Championships. Campbelltown finished 9th in the point score finishing with 5 Gold medals, 3 Silver
and 4 Bronze medals. Our Medal winners were: Isabella Lopez- 1 x Gold, 2 x Bronze Georgina Seton-2 x Gold, 1 x Silver Robert Warcaba-2 x Gold Kelsey Crewell -2 x Silver Aleksandria Ilic-1 x Bronze Mark Perich-1 x Bronze There were lots of top ten finishes and heaps of p.b’s. The Championships didn’t
finish until after 8pm on Friday and Saturday night and 6pm on Sunday night. By
Sunday night I was absolutely buggered and I couldn’t imagine how the swimmers
were feeling. Great work to everyone and thanks to Darryl, Jess, Aaron Chelsea,
Tyler, Kaylie, Sarah and Aidan for their excellent coaching. Good luck to the new
swimmers who are trying Jnr Gold next month. Don’t forget Jess Liardo is organising
a list of names and times to work at the Bunnings BBQ on the 1st October and on
the 22nd October is the Nepean Open Water championships that we won last year.
I’m encouraging everyone to enter either the 2.5km race for the juniors or the 5km
for 13 years and over who are looking to qualify for Open Water Nationals. Bye Now
Justin

Swimmers out of the pool!
Not quite out of the pool but it was great seeing our
Gold Squad swimmer Sheree Farrell win Campbelltown
Catholic Club’s Junior Hot Shot Award this month and
also seeing Rhiannon Cooke Jones being nominated for
the Junior Sports Star award. Congratulations girls!
Don’t forget to mention our club whenever you make a
purchase at Amart Sports
Registrar’s Report Hello everyone!
Well it's coming to the end of another Swimming Season
and the new 2016-2017 Swimming Year will commence
on the 1st of October! This means that Renewal Registrations for the new season
will be opening soon. As with most Registrations in sports
there is almost always an annual increase in fees and
Swimming is no exception. Both Swimming Australia and
Swimming NSW have put their fees up for this 2016-2017
season. I am really pleased to inform our Club members that
Campbelltown Amateur Swim Club's committee has
decided not to put up our membership fees and to absorb
these increases. The fees will once again be $75.00 for swimmers and
$25.00 for non swimmers and of course no fees for our
Optus Junior Dolphins (7 years and under). In the next few weeks there will be more detailed
information on the renewal process to follow. This year our Club will be encouraging our members to
renew through the MyLANE portal through the various
Swimming websites rather than the Renewal email link
process of the previous few years. In order to prepare for Registrations I will need members
who need to change their membership category (e.g. from
swimmer to non swimmer) to please inform me as soon as
possible via email or text (see below). Any new families wanting to sign up will go through the
JOIN NOW link also on the Swimming websites when
Registrations open.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. See you around pool deck!

Presidents Chat U12 Carnival.
While that was a month ago I would like to sincerely thank
all those who helped at the Carnival. A big thanks to the
Gold and Junior Gold swimmers who helped timekeeping –
that is the trademark of this carnival and you all did your
jobs very well.
We received a nice note from a family from Blayney who
attended the Carnival. They wanted to thank the blonde
timekeeper who spoke to her son prior to his race and
wished him well in his race. For that young swimmer those
kind words gave his confidence a great boost, removed any
nerves he had and made his day most enjoyable.
Sometimes we overlook what effect a kind word can have,
and that is not just around the pool. That blonde
timekeeper was Emily Doris, and she is one of the nicest
young ladies you will ever meet, polite and thoughtful.
Thanks Emily for showing not just great club spirit but
also what a great role model you are.
Winter State Age
Congratulations to all who swam at Winter State last
weekend we had some great results (which are mentioned
elsewhere in the newsletter) finishing 9th overall. But what
a tough weekend for swimmers, parents and coaches with
late finishes on each of the three days. Swimming is not an
easy sport – but it is very rewarding.
While we always rightfully pass special congratulations to
our medal winners and finalists (well done), I would like to
stress how just making state is an achievement in itself,
and that is a reward for hard work by the kids and their
coaches. I hope that all of our 23 swimmers who swam are
proud of that.
Winter Club Championships
I hope you have all seen the program for our Winter
Championships which will be held on the last two club
nights, please get your entries in as soon as possible. There
will be an early start both nights – 6:30pm instead of 7:30
and will start promptly on order to finish in time. On the
last night after racing has completed we will have a small
presentation of our Winter Trophies and Coaches Awards –
so please stay for that.Get your entries in!

Pool Entry for Club Nights
Just to remind everyone – we are all meant to pay pool
entry for club nights. The agreement we have with council
is that the charge will be half the normal rate.I know at
times you are able to enter without charge – if that happens
that is a bonus for you. When you are asked for entry don’t
get cranky at the reception staff – they are just doing their
job.
So please if asked mention it is for club and you should be
charged
● $1.90 child (first child)
● $1.40 subsequent child
● $1.25 spectator (i.e. parents etc.)
If you have any questions or need clarification please come
and see me.
Photos around the Pool
Just want to clarify this for everyone as we have had some
comments / queries on this. With the ability to take
pictures being so available now this is a delicate subject.
While your child is in learn to swim lessons, or in squad it
is not appropriate or permitted to take pictures of that
activity. It is also not permissible to take photos of other
children around the pool .
From a club perspective when you join the club one of the
items you need to confirm is that you give the club the OK
to take pictures and use them in newsletters, club website
and facebook page and to publicise the club (normally in
newspapers). If you wish to opt out of that – that is fine
and understandable, but that needs to be indicated in the
appropriate way on your membership, and it is beneficial to
let one of our committee know . (While we do check the
member data base we don’t want to miss this important
point) If you wish to opt out and have not yet done so –
please contact our registrar Roberta and she can guide you
through how to do that.
As a club we have authorised our publicity officers and
Arthur to take pictures. Anyone else who wishes to take a
picture of your child should have your permission.
Again – if you have any questions or need clarification
please see me
Sportsmanship
Dive Right In!
CASC Newsletter 7
I raise this point for you to think about because of
comments I have seen made by non- swimming parents
about behaviour around pools. The comments relate to
sportsmanship and how some children like to rub it in when
they swim faster than someone else. It is important that all
our swimmers from youngest to oldest understand club
nights is about having a good time, building friendships,
racing, doing your best and that it is about competing
against yourself and trying to swim that best time. I know
in the excitement of the moment sometimes to wrong
message can bubble out but let’s make that an exception
rather than the rule.
When competing in Carnivals that still applies. Enjoy any
success you have – but don’t put anyone else’s effort or
achievement down.
Thanks
Thanks to Marcea, Manuel and Amanda for the work they
have recently done around the Olympics. We have a new
club flier, we have a new member welcome guide and we
had three great promotion nights around the Olympics. We
hopefully have some new families join as a result of that
Well done!!
Aren’t we lucky to have Arthur on pool deck capturing all the going’s on in our club! Thanks Arthur for all your support.
