Newsleer Friday, 18th January 2013 Dear Parent, Carer The cold weather this week has not hampered our pace here at Neville Love. As I write there is a potenal for heavy snow over the next few days and parents are advised to check the school website regularly for updates. Informaon regarding school closures can also be found at hp://www.hants.gov.uk/educaon/schoolclosures/. We were visited last week by Mark Hoban, MP for Fareham who has taken a keen interest in the rapid and sustained progress there has been at the school. The newsleer will connue to contain useful informaon for parents each week and we thank you for taking the me to read it. Your feedback is always welcome. However, if your pack does not arrive there are spare copies available from the school recepon or the documents can be viewed on the school website. Academy Consultaon meeng dates: Exisng parents 4th February 2013 at 6.00 pm in the School Hall Year 5 and 6 parents 11th February 2013 at 6.00 pm in the School Hall Staff Meeng 28th January 2013 at 2.45 pm The student consultaon meeng took place on Wednesday, 16th January. Feedback from students was very posive. They asked lots of quesons and engaged thoroughly in the consultaon. Students were enthusiasc about the proposal. Exam News GEOGRAPHY EXAM - Monday 21st January (SDME exam worth 25% of overall grade). Students should use the weekend wisely and go through their revision materials. They should use www.geographypods.com/january-2013 to help and follow @NLSGeography on Twier for lots of revision ps. HISTORY EXAM - Wednesday 23rd January (Germany resit exam worth 25%) Tuesday 29th January (Brish Society resit exam worth 25%). Students should aend revision sessions in A10 and A14 on a Thursday and Friday. They should use the VLE, revision packs, examiners packs and all of their notes to prepare. ADDITIONAL SCIENCE - Biology 2 Tuesday, 22nd January, Chemistry 2 Thursday, 24th January and Physics 2 Friday, 25th January. Year 11 revision skills In order to support revision skills for Year 11 there will be a memory workshop to look at revision techniques. The same workshop will be delivered on 2 different dates so students can aend which- ever is convenient. The workshops will be on Friday 25 th January and Tuesday 29th January in C3i at 14h40. Parents are more than welcome to join us for the session. Mrs Ashley, Deputy Headteacher (Teaching and Learning) Mark Hoban MP Mark Hoban, MP visited the school on Friday. He met with Mrs Powrie to discuss the connued rapid progress of the school and then toured the site speaking to staff and students.

Academy Consultation Process

Governor News

The governor’s Community and Environment committee met on Tuesday . Part of the responsibility of this committee is to monitor the Health and Safety policy of the school. The site manager provides the committee with details of the works being undertaken around the school and also future works planned.

This week we learnt that former student Glenn Davies, has been offered a place to study at Oxford University upon successful completion of his A level studies. This is a fantastic achievement and we wish him well in his studies at this prestigious University.

Congratulations also go to Lauren Edwins who has just won a place to study at the Performers College, an independent Further Education College for the Performing Arts, to study dance. Well done Lauren.

Staff News

This term we are delighted to welcome to the school Lucy Sanders as Teacher of Art/Textiles,

Nina Matcharadze, Teacher of Maths and Sean Walsh and Grace Rawlinson who have joined our

English department.

The following staff left Neville Lovett at the end of the Autumn term: Mr Fargher, Mr Clouting,

Miss Grant and Miss Piper. We wish them all well for the future.
