PRINCIPAL’S UPDATE
Welcome to Week 4.
What a great result from the recent zone cross‐country! We had 38 students represent our school at the Carnival with
Toogoolawah State School finishing an outstanding second overall. This is a great result for our students and a reflec on of the
extra training they have undertaken in the Run Around Australia program. Represen ng Toogoolawah SS at the Regional Carnival
will be Jack Stre on, Mia Rose Harris, Lily Eggleston, April Henderson and Amelia Roughan. Congratula ons to all who
par cipated.
The NAPLAN tes ng commenced yesterday. Already our 3 and 5 students have completed the Wri ng task and Year 3s the
Reading task. On Thursday the Year 5s will have their Reading test and the Year 3s will have their Language Conven ons Test,
before a NAPLAN break for our Athle cs Carnival on Friday.
As men oned above, the Athle cs carnival will take place on Friday. The tuckshop will be open for parents and carers (thanks
Rhonda and volunteers for your support). Can I ask throughout the day that you encourage your students to be in their house
tent, where we can marshal them easily for events and they can join our house leaders in suppor ng other athletes with war‐
cries? The tempta on for them is to spend me with you but if you can re‐direct them to the house tent, your support would be
much appreciated.
Last night, in conjunc on with the High school, we conducted an online safety forum at Alexandra Hall. If you go to this website,
www.safety.gov.au , there is a host of very valuable informa on. Both schools want to work with parents and have open
conversa ons regarding online safety. I believe you will find this website extremely informa ve and valuable.
SPOTLIGHT ON PBL
Wow! The Gotcha Shop has really taken off this term! Already 1000 Gotchas have been spent at the Gotcha Shop this term, making for a total of 6840 Gotchas spent this year so far!
We will also be reaching out to the community this term, asking for dona ons for the Gotcha Shop for some bigger cket items, such as a scooter, good quality sports equipment and other items. Having items such as these in the Gotcha Shop will encourage students to work hard on their behaviour, as well as prac ce in saving their Gotchas up to make that special purchase! If you, a local company or business owner that you know would like to donate an item, please contact me at [email protected].
Some of our preppies are doing a spectacular job at saving up their Gotchas already! Willow spent 50 Gotchas at the Gotcha Shop this week where she purchased a handball. George and Jack already have more than 80 Gotchas and they are con nuing to save up to 500 Gotchas! Well done, Preppies!

Last Friday Ms Graham and Mr Murdoch took 38 students to complete in the Lockyer Zone Cross Country Carnival at Lake
