ŠK LIBURNIJA, RIJEKA WINS THE CROATIAN CHESS CUP FOR WOMEN 2013

ŠK Liburnija, Rijeka won the Croatian Chess Cup for Women 2013 with 13 game points. ŠK Polet, Buševec finished second with 12 game points, while ŠK Mornar, Split was third with 8 pts.

The Croatian Chess Cup for Women 2013 was held on November 23-24 in Zagreb, Hotel Palace.

Chief Arbiter of the tournament was IA Siniša Režek, while Tournament Director was IM, IO Ervin Sindik. The average ELO rating of the competition was 1698.

CURRENT TOURNAMENTS

EUROPEAN SMALL NATIONS TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

European Small Nations Team Chess

Championship started on 24th

November and will end on 1st

December, 2013 in Monte Carlo,

Monaco. The official venue is hotel

Hermitage.

The Championship is held under the

patronage of the European Chess

Union, who is at the same time the

main sponsor of the event.

The ECU helped the organization of this tournament with 25 000 €. The host of

Championship is Monaco Chess Federation.

The opening ceremony was held on 24th December, 2013 in a very pleasant

atmosphere, when drawing of lots was performed, after which all the participants

enjoyed a nice dinner in a friendly and cozy atmosphere.

After two rounds Monaco and the Faroe Islands are the only teams who scored

maximum 2 victories. Pairings, results and standings can be found here

The tournament is played as a Round Robin one, with 10 teams in 9 rounds. The

teams are composed of 4 players + 1 reserve player.

The participating teams are: Andorra, Cyprus, Faroe Islands, Guernsey, Jersey,

Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Malta, Monaco and San Marino.

The games are played in the saloon Trianon of the hotel Hermitage. The schedule is

as follows:

24th November: Arrival and opening ceremony at 8.30 pm

Round 1: 25th November at 3.00 pm

Round 2: 26th November at 3.00 pm

FORTHCOMING EVENTS

EUROPEAN SENIOR TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP 2014 IN SIBENIK

(CROATIA)

Croatian Chess Federation and the

tourist resort “Solaris” have the

pleasure to invite all the interested

teams to participate in the European

Senior Team Chess Championship

2014.

All the important details about the

competition can be found below (the

regulations will be published not later

than 30th November, 2013):

PLACE: Sibenik (Croatia), Tourist Resort “Solaris”

DATES: Arrival day is 31st March, 2014. Departure day is 10th April, 2014.

RIGHT OF PARTICIPATION: Each team shall consist of four players, and in

addition one reserve player may be nominated. Teams may consist of both men and

women. Men who have reached the age of 60 and women who have reached the age

of 50 by 31st December 2014 are entitled to participate.

RATE OF PLAY: Swiss system in 9 rounds. Time limit: 90 min/40 moves + 30

minutes for the rest of the game + 30 sec for each move starting from the first move.

ENTRY FEE: The entry fee is 40 € per named player. This means a maximum of 200

€ per team. In accordance with the ECU regulations, each team is obliged to make

the payment of 100 € for the fee. The players who are not staying in the official

hotels recommended by the organizer are obliged to pay an additional fee of 100 €.

ACCOMMODATION: Hotels of the Tourist Resort “Solaris”. Accommodation will

be provided on full board basis at the price: 59 € per person per day in a double

room and 74 € per person per day in a single room. Important notice: each team

consisting of one or more Grandmasters will have the right to free accommodation

and full board in a double room for one Grandmaster.

PRIZE FUND: 15.000 €

TRANSFER: The transfer is provided for the participants from the following

airports: Zagreb (315 km) - 90 € per person, Split (70 km) - 25 € per person and

Zadar (70 km) - 25 € per person for the return ticket. The organizer is preparing

many side events and excursions to make the stay of all participants more enjoyable.
