"B lue Chip" NITROFORM'

Found Ideal For Fertilizer Mixes

Rhode Island U n i v e r s i t y Presents a Study on Urea-Form Fert i l i zer Composit ions

On F e b r u a r y 2nd, 1957 before a group of New England agronomists , Rhode Island Univers i ty presented da ta which resolved one of the most controversial subjects since u rea - fo rms were commercially introduced to the marke t a few years ago. Ni t ro form has always suggested the use of their urea-form'in fert i l izer formulas if the user were to obtain the highest benefit f rom his U-F applications. The benefits of single season applications would be grea t ly reduced if the potent ial user were forced to make applications of phosphate and potash following the ni t rogen. Again it has been shown tha t var ious sources of nitrogen grea t ly improved the working qualities and nitrification character is t ics of u rea-form. Work conducted at Rhode Island Universi ty under the direction of Dr. Jesse De France proves conclusively t ha t u rea- forms a r e both practical and desirable in fer t i l izer formulas .

A. My first reaction to your problem is thai your applications of ammonium sulfate are either loo light or you may not be applying frequently enough. 1 would advise against us-ing ammonium phosphate because your com-bination of \ igoro and Milorganite already is giving you more phosphorous than sou need. You did 1101 sav how often you apply the com-plete ferii It/ei I would suggest ion fining it to spring and fall, using sulfate through (be season at double your prcsem rate.

The light green anil dark gieen spois In-dicate thai you might have grasses in your green other than Arlington fC-lj. If you have used any seed (Seaside) or il the Arlington • stolons nursery made seed before you planted i the grass, this would account for the spot*.

It water you arc using contains tots of lime anil if you are using lots of water io sofien ihe greens it would explain results. Actually pH 7,li is not loo high lor bent bul at'(hat level some of the trace elements will lie tied up. You may do well to try ferrous ammonium .sulfate tn correct any possible iron deficient v. Two to four lbs. sprayed on one green will give you a good indication in a short lir'nc of whether it will help your situation, \ i l ing !<m bent is lint one to do well under hcaw watering. It thrives on heavy nitrogen feeding and in being kept on tbe dry side.
