Equipped with a powerful CPU (processor) and

a large memory of up to 4TB, the 2-Bay power

media server NSA320 can quickly transfer,

backup and stream large multimedia fi les at

the same time. Furthermore, the NSA320 can

simultaneously stream several 1080P high-

defi nition streams to diff erent UPnP and DLNA

certifi ed devices. That way, devices such as

XBOX360, Sony PS3 or DLNA TVs can access the

NSA from diff erent rooms and at the same time.

The ZyXEL NSA320 features rich server

technologies for multimedia sharing. Acting as an

iTunes server, SqueezeCenter, personal blog and

photo album server, it simplifi es the streaming

and sharing of multimedia content between PCs,

laptops and SqueezeBoxes.

All-in-One Backup Solution

With high-volume hard disks of up to 4TB, the

NSA320 can perform as a centralised backup

solution for home and SOHO users. Thanks to the

intelligent “Copy/Sync” button, the NSA320 makes

it even easier to synchronise data to or from

external USB storage devices, card readers and

digital cameras. In addition, the Backup Planner

function allows instant or scheduled backup

from the NSA320 to other ZyXEL NSAs or external

storage devices. By following the simple setup

instructions step by step, users can plan their

backup schedule according to their needs. Other

advanced functions, such as data compression and

high-performance synchronisation, help users

to make the most of their bandwidth, while

spending less time on data backup.

Faster Backup thanks to NTFS Support

Thanks to built-in Tuxera NTFS drivers, the NSA320

provides a rapid data transfer rate (read/write

rate) for NTFS-formatted external hard drives. This

facilitates the time-saving backup of data as well

as the fast synchronisation between PC, NSA and

external hard drives.

Intuitive User Interface

The user-friendly installation wizard makes the

management and backup of media fi les very

easy. Integrated with a media player, the intuitive

user interface allows to play music and slide

shows directly from the NSA320. That way, they

can create their own playlists and play them

while watching a slide show. In addition, a newly

designed alphabetical search bar provides users

with a more convenient way to search a particular

fi le within thousands of songs, photos and videos

stored on the NSA320.

zPilot™ for Auto-Classifi cation of Files

The zPilot™ auto-classifi cation function enables

users to easily store and manage media fi les by

simple drag-and-drop. As soon as the zPilot™

software is installed via the NAS Starter Utility,

one or several fi les and folders can be dropped on

the zPilot™ icon on the desktop, where they are

automatically classifi ed and delivered to music,

photo, video or other folders on the NSA320.

Meanwhile, users can easily check the upload

status of data.

The next generation of network storage appliances brings more throughput to the

home network. Designed for home users looking for an easy-to-use media centre,

the NSA320 allows easy management and storage of data but also fast streaming of

STORAGE

Tailor-Made Features

The web-based utility makes it easy and

simple for users to enhance NSA features in

no time. They can for instance customise their

preferred applications with just a few clicks via

“Package Management”. The selected application

software is automatically downloaded from

the ZyXEL website and installed on the NSA.

This allows users to reserve storage space for

applications they require and benefi t from real-

time application software support tailored to

their needs. In addition, they can immediately

download the latest fi rmware from the ZyXEL

website, using the auto-upgrade fi rmware service

provided online by ZyXEL.

Powerful Download/Upload Platforms

In order to save power, the NSA320 platform

allows users to continuously download/upload

fi les without powering on their PC.

BitTorrent/eMule/HTTP/FTP

The NSA320 features a BitTorrent client for the

fast downloading and sharing of large fi les. With

high-speed DHT (Distributed Hash Tables) mode

and TCP/UDP tracker protocols support, the

RSS Feeds

The NSA320 supports RSS feeds by means of a

built-in RSS client, automatically downloading

the latest digital contents, such as TV programs

and Podcasts. With RSS server support, users

receive notifi cations for completed download

tasks and enjoy up-to-date media contents

based on their personal preferences.

Flickr/YouTube

The NSA320 further supports the auto-upload

of photos or videos to sharing websites, such

as Flickr and YouTube, automatically uploading

new media content stored on the NSA.

Green Design

Wake-on-LAN, a great new green feature,

allows users to turn on their NSA320 and access

media fi les remotely anytime and anywhere,

even when the device at home is switched off .

Furthermore, the internal hard disk hibernation

support makes the hard disks in the NSA320

automatically spin down when there has been

no data transmission for a certain period of

time. The power scheduling function can

automatically turn on or off the device, based

on user-defi ned usage patterns in order to save

power and money.

NSA320 overcomes the drawbacks of slow and

disrupted downloading. Thanks to Link Capture

support, fi les will be downloaded even when the

PC is off , which is particularly useful for lengthy

downloads and helps to save power. This also

enables users to establish their own FTP server,

manage access authorisation for it and use the

auto-upload function to automatically upload

fi les stored on the NSA to their FTP server. The

NSA provides an effi cient way of simultaneously

updating multiple FTP servers in order to share

fi les with friends and family.

Reduction in Complexity and Costs

Wi-Fi connectivity allows people to access

important ressources, such as data bases or the

Internet, anytime and from basically anywhere.

That is why wireless LAN has been introduced

by many companies and campuses when

planning to expand their network. In companies

or campuses, a wireless network can include

several hundred access points (AP), which means

that management and provisioning are a very

important point.

wasting money on equipment they do not really

need. Why install technologies in every single

location when it is so much more convenient to

manage all components from one central device?

ZyXEL Secure Distributed Wireless Solution

By reducing the complexity of equipment in

remote locations, the ZyXEL solution allows for a

Besides reducing costs, ZyWALL USG security

appliances, suitable for organisations of any

Strong Symmetric PerformanceEthernet in the First Mile (EFM)/ATM G.SHDSL technology is the ideal solution for

ZyXEL highly fl exible G.SHDSL gateways support ATM and EFM modes, providing

symmetric data rates of up to 5.7Mbps (P-792H v2) or even 11.4Mbps (P-793H v2)

Connecting Remote Offi ces with EFM

Today‘s carriers are eager to connect business

customers to their metro networks. Ethernet in

the First Mile (EFM), also known as IEEE 802.3ah, is

a mature technology for the delivery of symmetric

such as Ethernet over ATM from access networks.

ATM and EFM Mode Support

HomePNA 3.1 coax Ethernet bridge provides

an easy way for telcos and cable operators

to deliver IPTV services by using the existing

coaxial wiring. Just plug two HLA3105 bridges to

whole ZyWALL range from USG 20 up to USG 2000.

Flexible Content Filtering

Content Filtering allows the blocking of certain

web features, such as cookies, and/or deny access

to specifi c websites. It also denies access to specifi c

categories of website content. Furthermore, it

facilitates the creation of content fi ltering policies

and content fi ltering profi les for diff erent

addresses, schedules, users or user groups. That

way, an administrator is able to introduce a policy

that blocks warehouse staff members access to

arts and entertainment web pages during working

hours, while granting them free access after work.

Content fi ltering reports show access attempts to

web sites belonging to the categories selected by

the administrator. These reports allow them to see

what URLs were requested.

A content fi ltering profi le conveniently stores

custom settings, covering the following features:

• Category-Based Blocking: ZyWALLs can block

access to particular websites, such as

pornographic or racist websites.

• Restriction of Web Features: ZyWALLs can

disable web proxies and block web features, such

An Important Program to ZyXEL

The new Partner Program has streamlined the

approach to the market throughout Europe,

setting the basic incentive structure to target

sure that partners are treated equally across

Europe as regards both rewards and support

but just as much as regards their feedback

concerning product improvements and solution

Continuous Development of the Program

There are many amendments to the program on

the drawing board, the program itself being only

the foundation for ZyXEL’s new approach to the

SMB market.

The program was fi rst launched in ZyXEL’s

Western European subsidiaries but as from

January 1, 2011, it will be launched in Eastern

Europe too. ZyXEL also expects to be able to

launch a new vertical solution for the SMB

market at around the same time.

Last year, we took the fi rst step in the creation

of an Educational Portal for our technical

certifi cation training program (ZyXEL Certifi ed

Network Engineer, ZCNE). By the end of this

year, the portal will be extended with a Sales

and Solutions training program. In Q4, we

will launch our new European Partner Portal,

which provides partners with a common

European interface, giving them easy access to

all important information regarding price lists,

marketing material, vertical solution papers and

more. Likewise, partners can see and maintain

their own company data through this portal.

the UK, specialist networking reseller ‘Network

Needs’ chose ZyXEL as its preferred hardware

enabled HR Owen to off er its customers an

unparalleled ‘connected’ experience while they

visit their prestige car franchises. Critically for

HR Owen it is now able to control access to its

network, separating corporate and customer

access, while using the Internet launch page to

inform customers about off ers and new services.

Challenge

With more and more customers carrying

connected devices, being able to off er controlled

and reliable Internet access is crucial. HR Owen

saw the off ering of Internet access across its 14

strong UK franchises as a must have service. In

order to effi ciently make such a service available,

there were a number of challenges that any

solution would need to address. Firstly, any

customer activity should not impact on the

corporate network’s performance. Secondly,

being able to off er time-limited access and

communicate promotions via the login screen

was important. Finally, the solution needed to be

intuitive and easy to administer.

Solution

At the core of HR Owen’s network, is a ZyWALL

USG 300. Further, ZyWALL USG 200 fi rewalls are

deployed in HR Owen’s larger franchises, while

the smaller sites have the ZyWALL USG 100

fi rewall solution. Wi-Fi connectivity is provided

by the award-winning ZyXEL N4100 and G4100

wireless hotspot gateways. Hanging-off the

N4100 hotspots are thermal printers that link up

with the appliances to automate Internet access

via a printed voucher (this can be personalised

to the individual customer). The voucher

provides an access code, which is entered by the

customer on the start up page.
