Summing up, he said the present time is India’s chance to drive change in the manufacturing world which it can by leveraging innovation. In Session 1 was Mr.P. Professional along with SAEINDIA held The

Automotive Forum on ‘Growth Through Smarter

Manufacturing and Simulation’. It was all about the

Connected Shop Floor of the future, of Industry

4.0, the Internet of Things (IoT) and new-

generation technologies like 3D printing. The event

is of seminars and Key note addresses.

The event started by the Keynote address by Mr.

Vinod Dasari, CEO and MD, Ashok Leyland, who is

the Automotive Mission Plan 2026 which aims to

Engineering Inc. USA, said, “Industry is

witnessing a simulation-driven innovation

revolution and simulation has become a driver

of design today. He was followed by Mr.

Kanwaljeet Singh Virk, Brand Head – DELMIA,

Value Solutions, who spoke about the 3D

experience and the dynamic benefits it can

bring users. Finally Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Stratasys

India, who is leading the company’s 3D printing

business in the region who brought the session

to end.

Afternoon session began with a Keynote

address by Dr.V. Sumantran, Chairman of Celeris

Technologies spoke on the new disruptive age,

the impact on the automotive industry and the

role of advanced technologies. According to

him, the disruptive elements for the industry

today are three key things — electrified, shared,

and intelligent/autonomous capability.

Session 2 was started by Dr. Sathya Prasad

Mangalaramanan, VP, Ashok Leyland, who

highlighted the major advantages of simulation

for composites. Then Dr. T. Sundararajan, Sr.

GM – R&D, Wheels India, spoke on the evolving

requirement of light weighting materials.

Mr.Sarangarajan, TAFE was also in the panel.

The event came to end with the speech of Mr.

Padmesh Mandloi, Sr. Tech. Account Manager,

ANSYS, who said how the company's simulation

platform is an enabler for auto components.

Drive with IoT

On 8th June 2017, SAEINDIA Bengaluru section & NASSCOM

Centre of excellence jointly organized a Program on “Drive

with IOT: The Advent of Connected, Autonomous and

Electric Vehicles“ in Leela Palace, Bengaluru. The event was

concluded with a great success witnessing excellent

speakers & enthusiastic audience from different

Automotive OEMs, Suppliers and ITES companies.

Mahindra Electric was the Platinum Sponsor and KPIT was

the Gold Sponsor for the event.

The event was completely focused on IOT, autonomous &

electric vehicles. It was attended by more than 250

delegates representing from domestic and international

Auto OEMs, Tier1, Tier2, tech start-ups & representatives

from Educational institutions.

Mr. Kartik Gopal, the Strategy and Business Planning Head

at Mahindra Electric set the tone for the program by

delivering the keynote on ‘The Evolution and Future of the

Automotive Industry’. He highlighted various aspects on

megatrends & Govt push towards a new mobility platform.

He explained the framework to understand the new

evolving trends and Mahindra Electric’s innovative designs

and development to make a significant difference.

SIAT 2017 & SIAT EXPO 2017 were inaugurated at the

gracious hands of Shri Sanjay Mitra, Secretary, Ministry of

Road Transport and Highways and Shipping, Govt. Of India.

The panel discussion was well moderated by Dr. Arun

Kumar Sampath – Chairman, Automotive Board and Vice-

Chair, Finance Board of SAEINDIA.

The panellists were

Mrs. Prabhavathy A.S – Intel India, Autonomous Driving

Vertical Lead; Mr.Andreas Lindinger – Senior Expert in

Secure System & Cryptography, Continental; Mr. Saurabh

Rohilla – Deputy Director, SIAM; Mr. Vadiraj Krishnamurthy

– Vice President at Robert Bosch Engineering and Business

Solutions Limited & Ms. Manaswini Rath – AVP and Head of

ADAS and Autonomous Vehicles Practice, KPIT.

The panel discussion addressed various critical topics like

Infotronics in automotive industry, in built security,

emerging applications and government policies.

The panel discussion was followed by a special presentation

by Dr. Roshy John, during which the audiences learnt about

his journey and the challenges he overcame in the process

of converting a TATA Nano into India’s first driverless car.

The unique Innovator presentations by Mr. Kumar Ranjan –

Mean Metal Motors, Mr. Avneesh Agrawal – Netradyne and

Ruchit Surati – Locanix reiterated the vitality and

importance of innovation in the Automotive industry. He

was stressing on safe, secure, smart, shared mobility and

autonomous cars to understand the driving pattern.

This event clearly demonstrated that India has become

nerve centre of activities for autonomous vehicles,

connected cars etc. as many players operating out of India

representing multinational to start-ups.

about Opportunities & Challenges for SMBs in

Manufacturing Industry.

Manufacturers to Emerging Global Markets through World

Trade Center Networking Platform. Earlier Mr.

D.K.Karthikeyan, Director – Projects, GMCV 2030 welcomed

This 8th Edition of GMCV 2030 received National as well as

Supported by SAEINDIA & other Leading Manufacturing

Associations with an aim to bring Top Line Speakers and

CEO’s to deliberate upon the Challenges in Manufacturing

Industry and Road Ahead.

Mr. Krishnamurthi Venkataramanan, chairman – L & T

Hydrocarbon Engineering Limited was the Chief Guest for

this 8th Edition of GMCV 2030. During his keynote address

he emphasized that Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)

should be the spring boards for revival of the manufacturing

sector.

He also said that for a country like India with 1.3 billion

people, not everyone can move from agriculture to

services. This is where the Small & Medium Enterprises

will provide opportunities.

The manufacturing sector has to be more vibrant & it

should be revived, for this the emphasis should be on skill

development so that the Industries can adopt

technology. In his speech he highlighted that the key

sectors for growth in the coming years will include

Aerospace, Defence, Automobiles, Railways & Renewable

Energy.

MWC DIVISON LECTURE MEETING:

Lecture Meeting on ‘‘An Insight into Agricultural Tractors

& Farm Mechanization” was organized by SAEISS

Mahindra World City Division on 27th April 2017 at

DOWNTOWN. Mr. C. Pradeep - Chairman, SAEISS MWC

Division, welcomed and introduced the Program faculty

Mr. Kuchimanchi Rajeswar to the participants. He vowed

the participants with his exemplary talks about the topic.

All the participants were very much interested to interact

with him.

He made the lecture a grand success by visualizing stunning

images and videos on the Agricultural Tractors & Farm

Mechanization to garner the participant’s attention. Mr. R.

Balasubramanian, DGM - Program Mgnt, M&M and

Secretary SAEISS MWC, thanked Mr. Kuchimanchi Rajeswar

for his enlightening session and also thanked the

participants for their involvement.

Mr. Bala has appreciated for the good amount of

participation of 38 people from the academic front as well

as from the Industry front. He invited Mr.N. Balaji,

Consultant RNTBC, Mr. Kamal Kannan, HOD, Hindustan

college of Engineering and Mr. Baskara Sethu, Assistant

CHENNAI DIVISION LECTURE MEETING:

Lecture Meeting program on “Automotive Cockpit

Electronics” was organised by SAEISS Chennai Division on

22th April 2017 at Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturer

Association (AIEMA), Chennai. Mr. M. Kadher Basha,

Chairman, SAEISS Chennai Division, Scientist – CVRDE and

Mr. K. Ganapathy Subramanian, DGM - Marketing, Simpson

& Co Ltd, Secretary, SAEISS Chennai Division had welcomed

all the participants and introduced Mr. P. Badri Narayanan

BDM, Visteon, Chennai to the participants.

Mr. P. Badri Narayanan gave complete overview of emerging

techniques about the cockpit Electronics in Automotive

Vehicles. All the participants were very much interested to

interact with him. He made the lecture a grand success by

visualizing stunning videos about the cockpit electronics to get

participants attention.

He explained about the instrument cluster, radio,

infotainment, Head up display, Telematics and ADAS. Up to

4.2” Colour TFT clusters are there in market, Soon above 7” TFT

hybrid clusters will be trending, He also explained about the

expected Reconfigurable clusters like AFE, IFE, Distance to

empty, complex analytical details like trip economy, average

fuel economy, trip average speed, etc.

Mr.M. Kadher Basha, thanked the faculty for his enlightened

session and also thanked the participants for their involvement

and making this occasion graceful. He also appreciated for such

a good interaction that happened between the faculty and the

participants. He appreciated the good amount of participants

from the industry front and gave the vote of thanks.

MWC DIVISON LECTURE MEETING:

Lecture Meeting on ‘‘Braking & Brake Friction” was

organized by SAEISS Mahindra World City (MWC) Division

on 19th May 2017 at MAHINDRA WORLD CITY CLUB,

Mahindra World City. Mr. C. Pradeep - Chairman, SAEISS

MWC Division, PRINCIPAL ENGINEER - VEHICLE

INTEGRATION, M&M welcomed and introduced the

Program faculty Mr. Anand, VP - Sales & Marketing, Masu

Brakes Pvt. Ltd to the participants.

Mr. Anand briefed upon the types of brakes currently been

used in Automobile Industry and the types of material been

used in the manufacturing of brakes. He also explained in

detail the manufacturing process of the brake material. He

vowed the participants with his exemplary talks about the

“Braking & Brake Friction”. All the participants were very

much interested to interact with him. He made the lecture a

grand success by visualizing videos on the manufacturing

process of brakes materials to garner the participant’s

attention.

Secretary SAEISS MWC, thanked Mr. Anand for his

enlightening session and also thanked the participants for

ERODE DIVISON LECTURE MEETING:

SAEISS Erode Division organized 5th Lecture Meeting on

‘‘Tractors for Modern Forming” on 29th April 2017 at Vellalar

College of Engineering and Technology, Erode together with

Collegiate club at the venue opening by Mr. S. Sriraman,

Chairman SAEISS. Dr. Jayaraman, Principal of Vellalar College

of Engineering and Technology presented a salvai to him.

Mr.S. Sriraman, handed over the SAEINDIA Collegiate Club

certificate to Mr. S.D. Chandrasekar, Secretary and

Correspondent of Vellalar College of Engineering and

Technology.

Dr. E. Rajasekar, Secretary, SAEISS and Professor, IRTT,

Erode, had explained the SAEINDIA and SAEISS activities and

welcomed all the participants of the lecture meeting.

Dr. P. Navaneethakrishnan, Chairman, SAEISS-Erode Division

introduced the speaker to the participants and handed over

the session for his lecture. Mr. S. Sriraman started his

lecture by explaining the topic of the day ‘Tractors for

Modern Forming’.

The various activities done by TAFE for improving the

development of farming at TAFE research institute are

explained by him. Modern forming methods which are

developed now a day are also discussed. The trends in

Indian agriculture sector and its various developments are

also explained.

Dr. M. Easwaramoorthy, Secretary SAEISS Erode Division

delivered the vote of thanks. Dr. R. Kumaravelan, HOD/

Mechanical Engineering, Vellalar College of Engineering and

Technology presented the memento to Mr. S. Sriraman as

the token of gratitude.

AERO DESIGN CHALLENGE 2017 FINALS:

SAEISS organized Aero Design Challenge 2017 in

association with Centre for Aerospace Research, MIT,

Anna University at CEG Campus, Anna University

Chennai from 8th - 10th June 2017 with 93 teams of

around 600 students from various engineering

institutions across India. The event was inaugurated by

Shri. Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy, Scientific Advisor to Raksha

mantra, DRDO, Ministry of Defence, New Delhi.

The various dignitaries present are Dr. T.V. Geetha, Dean,

CEG, Anna University, Chennai; Dr. S. Ganesh, Registrar,

Anna University; Mr. S. Sriraman, Chairman, SAEISS and Mr.

S. Shanmugam, Vice Chairman, SAEISS.

Dr. S. Thamaraiselvi, welcomed the dignitaries, students

and Dr. K. Senthil Kumar Champion ADC & Director, CASAR,

MIT Campus, Anna University briefed about the event.

Mr. S. Sriraman talked about the evolution of SAE and

SAEINDIA and also impact and outcome of SAEISS Aero

Design Challenge.

After the Inaugural function, the 5 parallel Technical

presentations were organized and judged by the eminent

scientists from DRDO. On the last day the award ceremony

was graced by Shri. K. P. ANBALAGAN, Hon’ble Minister for

Higher Education, Tamil Nadu as chief guest and presided

by Shri. Sunil Paliwal, IAS Principal Secretary, Higher

Education, Tamil Nadu and felicitated by Dr. T.V. Geetha,

Dean, CEG Campus, Anna University, Shri. S. Sriraman

Chairman SAEISS along with Shri. P.S. Krishnan, Former

Director-ADE, DRDO & Coordinator, SIGMA Panel, DRDO.

The function ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. E.

Rajasekar, Secretary-SAEISS & Professor, IRTT, Erode.

CHENNAI DIVISION LECTURE MEETING:

Lecture Meeting program on “Automotive Quality, Safety

and Reliability” was organised by SAEISS Chennai Division on

27th May 2017, Saturday at Ambattur Industrial Estate

Manufacturer Association (AIEMA), Chennai. Mr. M. Kadher

Basha – Chairman, SAEISS Chennai Division, Scientist –

CVRDE introduced the program faculty Mr. Mohan

Kalaiyapan - Lead Technical Manager, AXIS CADES

Engineering and Technologies to the participants.

Mr. Mohan Kalaiyapan started his lecture and vowed the

participants with his exemplary talks about the Quality and

Safety measures in Automotive Industry. He explained about

quality, supplier rating factors, Business challenge today in

automotive industry, automotive recalls in global level, ISO

9001, Six Sigma, TPM Awards such as Malcom Baldridge

National Quality Awards, RBNQA Award, IMC Juran Award in

India, Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award and also explained

about the ABB Quality Journey in Automotive Industry,

Feigenbaum Medal, Deming Cycle, 7 tools of Quality.

He also explained about the six sigma best trainer and best up

tools, journey of six sigma from 5S to DFSS, Autonomous

mobility through AI, Bus roll over simulation test, National

COLLEGIATE CLUB INAUGURATION:

SAEINDIA Bangalore section inaugurated AMC college of

engineering collegiate club, Dignitaries present were Mr.

K.P. Murthy Vice Chairman, SAEINDIA BS & SAEINDIA official

Mr. Purushotham S Joshi , who later on presented technical

talk on SAEINDIA BAJA vehicle. The event was highly

successful were more than 200+ students attending the

session among various department.

TECH TALK:

SAEINDIA Bengaluru section organized technical talk at

Vivekananda College of Engineering - Puttur in association

with Continental Automotive India represented by

Mr. Prasneh Puzhakkal with Mr. Rakesh of SAEIBS. His

presentation was on “Safe & Dynamic Driving towards

Zero”. The event was attended by 100 students from the

institution.

PRESS RELEASE ON MANOVEGAM AT SIT:

SAEINDIA Bengaluru section along with SIT, Tumkur

conducted press meet on MANOVEGAM a brand event of

SAEINDIA aerospace board & Bengaluru section for aero

community. Media person from local news channel &

prominent news channel were present to witness India’s

1st aero event which was commencing to happen in

couple of days after this press meet.

From section Mr. Damodaran Subramaniam, Convener of

aero board; Mr. Munirathnam Javaji, Chairman and from

SAEIBS office Mr. Purushotham & Mr. Sathyakanth were

present for the event. Apart from them SIT College

Director, Principal & Mr. Uma Shankar H.O.D were also

present for the meet.

MANOVEGAM 2017 was inaugurated during the networking

dinner with SAE International President Mr. Cuneyt Oge,

SAEINDIA Aerospace committee members and SAEINDIA

Bengaluru section managing committee members at

Bengaluru in October 2016.

The competition was in two different categories, Regular

class and Micro class. Regular class is a glow engine

competition, the purpose is to develop the fundamental

understanding of flight and Micro class is an all-electric class

competition, the purpose is to engage in trade-off between

two potentially conflicting requirements-carrying the highest

payload possible, while simultaneously pursuing the lowest

empty weight.

The competition is of two different phases – Virtual round

and Flight round. . The Virtual Round was conducted on 11th

March 2017 and Flight round was conducted on 14th & 15th

April 2017 at Siddaganga Institute of Technology (SIT),

Tumkur, Karnataka. The MANOVEGAM Flight round was

inaugurated by Dr. Sree Sree Sivakumara Swamigalu,

Founder, Sri Siddaganga Education Society and Prasanth

Sakhamuri, MD, Hind High Vacuum Company Pvt. Ltd.

Total of 29 teams including 261 undergraduate and graduate

students from different parts of INDIA had participated for

this event. The competition was judged by a panel of

eminent personalities from Safran Engineering Services,

Assystem, Airbus, Rolls Royce, UTAS, UCAL - JAP Super fly

hobby, Javaji M Consulting, HCL, GE, and CEMILAC.

Viva Institute of Technology won the first prize in Regular

class and PESIT-Bengaluru south campus won the first prize

in Micro class category. Dr. Bala Bharadvaj, MD, Boeing India

Engineering & Technology Center, served the valedictory

function and as a chief guest presented the awards to the

winning teams. And the four teams won the internship

opportunity in top aerospace companies.

The entire event was well orchestrated by the Convenor Mr.

Damodaran Subramaniam – managing Director Safran

aerospace engineering service followed by Organizer & logo

designer Mr. Purushotham, Mr. Sathyakanth Thagyarajan,

Mr. Shanshanth, Mr. Rakesh D.R & Ms. Jyothi of SAEIBS with

their outstanding contribution for achieving grand success

to this event.

TECH TALK:

SAEINDIA Bengaluru section conducted a technical talk

at General motors technical center (GMTCI), where

distinguished guest from ARAI Mrs. Rashmi

urdhwareshe, director ARAI presented her talk on

Future transportation, trends & challenges. more than

200+ professional members from GMTCI attended the

session, team led by Mr. Munirathnam Javaji, Chairman,

SAEIBS followed by Mr. Brian MC Murray, VP, GMTCI

made this event a grand success. Excellent support was

given from GM team Ms. Gayatri sundhu Ghanta, Mr.

Karan, Ms. Gulshan, Mr. Sai Sandeep, SAEINDIA official

SAE EGA - TVSM:

On 10th June 2017, SAEINDIA Bengaluru Section & TVS

Motor company (TVSM) organized technical interactive

session for the students, who are participating in INDIA’S 1ST

2 wheeler hybrid competition named Electrifying Green

Aspiration (SAE EGA).

The event was well attended from company representatives

i.e. GE, TVS, CONTINENTAL & GM who were put in Jury panel

from SAE team to give inputs to the students. Mr. Balu, VP, R

& D at TVSM was the chief guest who inaugurated the

session followed by welcome address from section Chair -

Mr. Munirathnam Javaji, & technical address from Secretary

SAEIBS Mr. Kannan Marudachalam.

The event convenor Mr. C Subramaniam on his absence Mr.

Sridhar who took the lead on giving inputs to the students.

The open session briefing carried out on the following

important topics:

A. Powertrain

B. Safety

C. Electrical systems &

D. Packaging unit.

The session was well attended from 15 teams across PAN

India along with faculty to understand the complex of

hybrids in two wheeler amounting to 90 members in

strength in total.

Industry volunteers Mr. Sumanth V Murthy - Mbharati, Mr.

Manjunath – Vinayaka moulding tools, Mr. Rakesh Kulkarni

& Mr. Sumanth Joshi from TCS as well as the outstanding

support from TVSM were also present for the event.

TECH TALK:

SAEINDIA Bengaluru section, Conducted a technical talk at

UTC aerospace for woman engineers Dr. Rashmi

Urdhwareshe Director ARAI, who led the talk on Building

career for woman engineers where 50 woman engineers

attended the session. Aero board member Mr.

Ravishankar Mysuru along with SAEINDIA staff Mr. Rakesh

D.R attended led the session to its grand success.

SAE INTL. PDP TEAM VISIT:

Visit of Dr. Kevin Perry, Director, PDP, SAE International along

with Mr. Murli Iyer, Executive Advisor-Global Affairs, SAE

International to access the training needs of industries in and

around Pune.

Dr. Kevin Perry, Mr. Murli Iyer, Mr. Prakash Sardesai, Mr.

Sanjay Nibandhe, Mr. K. Venkataraj, Mr. Ramesh S. Pasarija

visited Tata Technologies, Tata Motors, KPIT, John Deere and

Eaton companies.

INTER CG CLUB PROJECT COMPETITION 2017:

SAEINDIA Western Section Project Competition 2017 was

organized by SAEIWS in association with Zeal College of

Engineering & Research, Narhe, Pune on 4th June 2017. The

aim is to motivate the students to demonstrate their skills,

technical knowledge in field of automotive engineering.

SAEINDIA Section News - Western Section

The event began with Lamp-lighting ceremony by

dignitaries. The dignitaries on dais were Mr. Vinay

Mundada; Dr. Ajit M. Kate; Mr. M. K. Chaudhari; Mr.

Narahari P. Wagh; Dr. Sunil Dambhare; Prof. Amol Ubale;

Mr. B. V. Shamsundara and Mr. Ramesh S. Pasarija.

We received 18 project nominations from various collegiate

clubs from Western Section. There were 5 panel of judges

to assess the teams. Each team was given 15 minutes of

time to present their project.

The Winner of Project Competition Mr. Shreyas Sarage from

College of Engineering Pune (COEP) was felicitated with a

Trophy and certificate along with prize money of

Rs.10,000/-. The First runners-up Mr. Gitesh Lavhe, and Mr.

Abhay Mane from COEP were awarded with trophy,

certificates & prize money of Rs. 7,000/-.

Second Runners-up position was shared between the two

teams. First team was Mr. Eshaan Ganesh Ayyar of ARAI

Academy and other team consisting of Mr. Alphonso Wayne

Walter, Mr. Himanshu Nashikkar, and Mr. Shramit Hegde of

Don Bosco Institute Of Technology. Both the teams were

awarded with trophies & certificates. The prize money of Rs.

5,000/-was shared between them.

The Innovation award was given to Mr. Gitesh Lavhe, and

Mr. Abhay Mane of COEP. They were awarded a certificate

of appreciation. This team would get free consultancy from

1 Crowd Company to assist them to manufacture their

project on a large scale.

ANNUAL SOCIAL 2017:

The SAEINDIA Western Section Annual Social 2017 was

organized by SAEINDIA Western Section (SAEIWS) in

association with Zeal College of Engineering, Narhe, Pune on

4th June 2017. There were 10 professional members and

around 130 student members along with few school student

participants of AWIM in Pune City.

The program began with Dr. Ajit M. Kate, Principal, Zeal

College of Engineering and Research. Thereafter Chief Guest

Dr. K. C. Vora addressed the audience. This was followed by

Prize Distribution of Inter Collegiate Club Project

Competition. After that the teams of AWIM, BAJA & Supra

were felicitated.

The first team felicitated was the winner of AWIM Pune

Olympics 2017, from Walnut School. The second team

felicitated was the runners-up team of AWIM Pune Olympics

2017, Moledina High School, Swarget. As a special

recognition, Mr. Rohit Yadav & Mr. Tarun Ranjan, of ARAI

academy who volunteered and took efforts to spread AWIM

activity in Pune, Solapur & Ahmedabad were felicitated at

the hand of Dr. K. C. Vora.

Later on the BAJA winner and runners-up teams who are

from western section were felicitated. In BAJA the winner

“Team Nemesis Racing” of College of Engineering Pune, was

felicitated. On behalf of college, other students received the

medals. The runners up team “Stallions Racing” of Allard

College of Engineering and Management, Pune, were

felicitated.

In Supra SAEINDIA, winner team “Kratos Racing” from Pimpri-

Chinchwad College of Engineering, Pune, were felicitated

along with faculty advisor. The runners-up team “The

Interceptors” of Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Engg. & Tech. Pune,

were felicitated.

Mr. Parthasarathi Patnaik presented his company’s profile 1

Crowd to all the members present and followed by

announcement of the Innovation award, which was given to

Mr. Gitesh Lavhe, and Mr. Abhay Mane of College of

Engineering Pune, for ‘Design and Manufacturing of

Automatic Torque Biasing Differential’. They were awarded a

certificate of appreciation. This team would get free

consultancy from 1 Crowd Company to assist them to

manufacture their project on a large scale.

As a token of appreciation SAEIWS Chairman Dr. K. C. Vora

felicitated the principal, Dr. Ajit M. Kate along with their

Faculty members Dr. Sunil Dambhare, Prof. Amol Ubale, Prof.

Ashwin B. Joshi who volunteered in organizing Project

Competition & Annual Social. He also felicitated SAEINDIA

Western Section Staff Member Mr. Ramesh S. Pasarija, Mr.

Paresh Shitole, Mr. Sagar Murugkar, Mr. Aditya Kulkarni, and

Mr. Ankit Rawat for support in this event.

This was followed by two performances. First performance

was by Shubham Sawalakhe, student of 3rd year from

Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Pune, presented his

Waradhi Poetry. Second performance was by a band “Nair

Aunty’s Curry” by Mr. Mrugendra Mohadkar & Shrikanth

Nair. All the attendees enjoyed the performances.

Mr. Narahari P. Wagh, Secretary, SAEIWS proposed vote of

thanks on behalf of SAEIWS and Zeal College of Engineering &

Research. There after Guests were ushered for Gala Dinner.

SEMINAR:

A seminar on “Advancement in Automotive Lubricants

Technology and Solutions” was organized in association with

SAEINDIA on 7th April 2017 to get insight on emerging

technology trends in automotive lubricants and advance

technology solutions which help in achieving efficient

automotive systems. The Shell Concept Car will be

showcased to demonstrate the amalgamation of lubricants

technology with automotive technology to deliver future

mobility solution.

The seminar had participation from 5 Industries and 2

Colleges with total participation of 35. The seminar was

inaugurated by Mr. Anup Kacker, ED, SAEINS and Mr. Anoop

Bhatt, Vice-Chair, Membership Board, SAEINDIA delivered

the Valedictory address.

Technical sessions were by Mr. IAN Shanon – GM, Shell

Global Solutions, Mr. Akhil Jha – CTO, Mr. Srikant – Tech.

Manager, and Product Application Specialists Mr. Murakami

Koji & Mr. Ajay Aggarwal.

CG CLUB INAUGURAL & EXPERT TALK:

On 13th April 2017 Mr. Anup Kacker, ED, SAEINS inaugurated

the new SAEINDIA Collegiate Club at BML Munjal University,

Gurgaon. He was welcomed by Prof. A.K.Prasada Rao, HOD,

Mechanical Engineering along with Dr. Surya Prakash, Asst.

Prof.; Dr. Ranbir Singh, Asst. Prof. and Dr. Amiya K Dash

Associate Prof. of the university. A meeting with Prof. B.S.

Satyanarayana Vice-Chancellor BML Munjal University was

also arranged.

The session started with formal lamp lighting ceremony by

the chief guest Mr. Anup Kacker who explained about the

advantages of being member of SAEINDA as Access to

research papers, Participation in Technical seminars &

Events and finally SAE magazines.

Over 100 students attended the event. The essence of his

speech are.

• Be ready for the change and do what you can’t do and

demonstrate Perseverance.

• Need of Soft skills like communication skills, leadership

skills, Technical skills etc.

The event ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Surya

Prakash.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT:

An industrial visit was organized for student & faculty of

KIET, Ghaziabad at Trim India Gurgaon on 16th April 2017.

About 32 students along with 2 faculty members, visited

Trim India. After the inaugural by Mr. Rakesh Sood –

Managing Director the members were taken around the

plant.

Facilities shown were Tool Room, Injection Moulding, and

Blow Moulding. There was a Q&A answer session at the

end.

SEMINAR:

A seminar on “Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for Automotive

Industry using Simcenter” organized in association with

SIEMENS by SAEINDIA Northern Section (SAEINS) on 19th

May 2017 at Gurgaon.

The welcome address was given by Mr. Ajay Pandey of

Siemens & the Inaugural address along with a brief on

SAEINS activities was given by Mr. Sunil Malhotra, Vice

Chairman (Seminar & conferences). To get insight on the

impact of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for Automotive

Industry using Simcenter in the mobility sector which

delivers unmatched modelling realism and computational

performance. This will help you predict real product

behaviour, and put 3D simulation on the critical path for

complex product development.

The lined-up experts are Mr. Kamanasish Biswas, Mr.

Geetanand Kedilaya and Mr. Khushpreet Singh having

combined experience of 30 plus years who presented the

salient feature & advantages of Simcenter for mobility

experts. The seminar had participation from cross section of

Industries and 3 Colleges with total participation of 38. The

valedictory address was given by Mr. P Panda – Sr. Vice

Chairman SAEINS. Mr. Rakesh Sood – Vice Chairman Student

Activities SAEINS was also present.

SEMINAR:

A seminar on “Bharat Stage VI – How it impacts Testing,

Instrumentation and Development” organized in association

with AVL by SAEINDIA Northern Section (SAEINS) on 19th

May 2017 at Gurgaon.

The aim is to get insight on the impact of BS VI on testing

Instrumentation and Development in the mobility sector. A

brief on SAEINS activities was given by Mr. Anup Kacker, ED,

SAEINS.

It is followed by Expert talk by team of experts from AVL

namely Mr. Michael Muehloegger, Global Business Unit

Manager, Measurement &Instrumentation Products, AVL

Graz; Mr. Manoj Kusumba, HOD, Diesel Development, PTE /

DED, AVL India; Mr. Jean Baptiste Paquereau, GM, Engine

and Vehicle Development, AVL India; Mr. Alexander Painsi -

BDM, Emission Instrumentation, AVL Graz; Mr. Marco

Schoeggl – BDM, In-Vehicle Measurement, AVL Graz; Mr.

The seminar had participation from cross section of

COLLEGIATE CLUBS VISIT & EXPERT TALK:

On 8th & 15th June 2017 Mr. Anup Kacker, ED, SAEINDAI

Northern Section (SAEINS) visited ABES Engineering College,

Ghaziabad; GL Bajaj Institute, Greater Noida and NIET

College, Greater Noida.

There he briefed about the plans and current activities of

SAEINS to Vice Chairman, Director, Principal, HOD, Faculties

and Key student members of all the 3 colleges. He also

explained the membership benefits and the purpose of

various events like FISITA, iTEC, SIIMC & TIFAN which

bridges the gap between academia and industries by

bringing the students with requisite skills like

Communication, Leadership & Technical which are needed
