He has been a member of Kiwanis and the Chandler Compa- dres, an organization that has served Chandler for 39 years. “Kids and commerce are the lifeblood of all communities,” he said. “A thriving business com- munity will trickle down.” Jeremy was appointed to the City Council in June, 2018. He said the Chandler Unified School District is one of the best in the state and a real asset to the community. His main priority is economic development. He listed many businesses that had opened in Chandler in recent months, noting how strong the small business environment is, partially, he said, “due to knowledge-based employers.” One of the newest is the Crayola Experience that opened May 23 at the Chandler Fashion Center. Board MeetingThe Board of Directors held its

regular monthly meeting Tuesday. The board discussed possible

ways to use a higher-than-expected balance in our club checking ac-count. Those included: reduction of dues and/or placing funds from our Sergeant-at-Arms session into the Foundation rather than the club account, as well as others.

The board heard a sample Foun-dation financial report using Quick Books. Eventually we will use Quick Books for that account as we already are for the club account.

Notices have been sent out to members who have not donated their $100 toward the Every Rotarian Every Year program. Response

Flight 33Ron Stevens (left) presented a

$2,000 check to Christine Puzaus-kas of Flight 33 at our last meeting. Christine was unable to attend our Thank You Breakfast on May 1 be-cause she was off visiting her new grandbaby. Ron gave some brief information on Flight 33, thanking Christine and the organization for all they do to help needy youth in Guadalupe. In thanking us, Christine noted that she and a group of volun-teers provide services for those who face “extraordinary obstacles” on a daily basis.

has been good, but there still are several members who have not contributed. If you are one of those, please send your check to Founda-tion Treasurer Jim Hoenig no later than June 19 to be included on this Rotary year’s report. The board discussed establishing guidelines for the admission of an Honorary Mem-ber to our club. Criteria established will be added to our club by-laws.

The board recommended a re-view of our current by-laws.

The board approved the contract for our 27th annual Hole-in-One Contest. The cost from San Marcos is the same as this year. The dates also are the same corresponding with this year, starting Saturday, February 15, with the finals set for March 1. Date of the Thank You breakfast will be determined by the new club administration.

The July board meeting will be held Tuesday, July 16. President Elect Greg Thornton hopes to in-clude both the club and Foundation boards at this meeting. Time and location will be determined.

The board thanked President Theresa Clemmons for her extra year of service, stepping in and taking over for Tiffany Jones when Tiffany was forced to resign because of health issues. We also thank Tif-fany for her service and wish her a speedy recovery and return.

He also revealed several other businesses that will be moving in soon.

He discussed available park-ing in the downtown area, which includes four facilities with a fifth on the way.
