Class of 2018
Thomas Sumter Academy has
many traditions. The Class of
2018 has begun a new one ---
they have developed, signed,
and implemented their own
Class Mission Statement.
When you are on campus, stop
by and read it; it is located on
the wall next to Mrs. Sweeney’s
office.
“Don’t ever think, no matter how old you are, that you
don’t need to be coached” ~ Peyton Manning
Wow, a great week for our Generals! Varsity Lady Generals defeat
Wilson Hall – even with their home court advantage! Our teams and
fans are awesome!
Dante Linder is recognized at The Sumter TD Club as the Offensive Player of the Week
Our Varsity Tennis team lost a close match to Laurence Manning earlier in
the week. Riley DeLavan and Mary Lenior Hoge won their singles matches.
The doubles team of Riley DeLavan and Payton Arrants won their match as
well.
Ed Lee broke his own school record in the 100 meter freestyle with a time of
54.28, and the 500 meter freestyle with a time of 5:31.58 at the Newberry
Invitational last Saturday in Newberry, SC. Sarah Prynne qualified for state
in the 100 meter freestyle, Ava Claus qualified for state in the 100 meter
breaststroke and 50 meter freestyle, and Tyler Singletary qualified for state
in the 200 meter individual medley. Savanna Price shaved 13 seconds off
her 100 meter breaststroke. Congratulations to Ed Lee on his record-
breaking performances and the rest of the TSA swim team for their
outstanding performances.
Our football team played with heart and tenacity in their loss to Orangeburg
Prep 7-13 Friday night in Orangeburg.
Even in defeat we have much to celebrate and be thankful for!
Even in defeat --- Celebrate!
I would like to congratulate Josie Reed and Carmen Sylvester for being the first members of the Class of 2018
to receive college acceptances. Both have been accepted to North Greenville University. Both the Lady Generals
received academic and athletic scholarships. If you see them around campus --- please congratulate them.
