4th & 5th Grade Bible Life Our 4th & 5th Grade Bible Life Class is looking for a teacher. The class meets at 9:15am on Sunday mornings and uses the Gospel Story for Kids curriculum. If you would be interested in investing a portion of your Sunday mornings in the eternal good of these children, I’d love to visit with you. You can reach me at the church office (512) 295-3132 ext. 35 or via email: [email protected].
Summer Bible Sleuths With summer comes a break for AWANA, but we don’t want to lose the momentum we’ve built with our children. On Wednesday evenings, we will be starting Summer Bible Sleuths designed to equip children with knowledge of the basics of the Christian faith. In order to give our AWANA volunteers a time to recharge their batteries over the summer, we’re asking our Adult BLGs to sign-up to serve one or more weeks during the summer. Your class would be responsible for the following:
1) Being present at Summer Bible Sleuths the week you sign up between 6:35-8:10pm 2) Providing adults who would lead the small group discussion time (3 people minimum) 3) Providing a snack of your choice for the children (ice cream, popcorn, fruit, etc.)
Beyond those items your class can be as involved as they would like to be. June 11th – Airplane Accuracy June 25th – The Roman Road - Truthseekers July 2nd – Toothpick Tower July 9th – Rain Gutter Races - Agape July 16th – Clothespin Ninja - Believers July 23rd – Can You Build It? – Young Marrieds July 30th – Can You Solve It? - Believers August 6th – Lemonade Night August 13th – Star Wars
If your class would like to commit to serving one or more of the above weeks please let me know. I look forward to getting to know many of the adults of our congregation better as we serve together over the course of the summer.

From Tim Greetings from the Worship and
Music Ministry!
It is not too late to sign up to sing with the Community Choir on July 4th. We will be singing two songs, “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “Armed Forces Salute”. I would really appreciate it if you would join
us for this event. Please let me know if you are interested in singing with us. If you can carry a tune, you qualify!
Many have asked: “When are the rehearsals?” Well, you can come to our regular Wednesday evening choir rehearsals here at HHBC and there will be two rehearsals with the Wimberley orchestra as follows:
Monday June 30 at 7:15 on stage indoors at the PAC
Friday July 4th at 6:45 on stage indoors at the PAC
The performance will be on risers outdoors just off the front steps of the PAC. We will step up on the choir risers at 9:00 to perform. “What do we wear?” We are asking the choir to wear blue denim on bottom and a red, white, or blue shirt. “Will there be chairs for the choir?” Yes, there will be chairs on the choir risers to sit in if you so choose. However, you are welcome to leave the risers after our performance to go sit with your family wherever you choose.
Breakaway will be performing for Heroes Camp again this year. We will have our black light show
on Friday during Camp Week. These students have done a great job this year and Barbara Kay and Tina McCaslin have been awesome. Thank you all for your hard work. I hope you all have a great summer and thank you so much for your continued support of the music program and all the ministries of HHBC. Keep Singing His Praises!

Are you being robbed of a blessing?
A couple weeks ago God blessed me with an experience that I will never forget. Talina Plant asked me
to fill-in for her at Legend Oaks Nursing Home while she was out of town. I have not been able to be
there on Thursday nights due to added responsibilities as an elder, therefore, I was really excited about
seeing many of my friends and having an opportunity to worship with them again.
My blessings came as soon as I walked into the rec area and was greeted by the smiles and words of
appreciation I received from the residents. Little did I know that this was just a fore shadow of what God
had in store for me. Ken Passno, who took over leadership of the Bible Study when I had to leave,
started with prayer and songs of praise and worship. As we sang I noticed the elderly lady, who was
right in front me, was completely caught-up in worshiping God through song. For sake of this article I
will refer to her as Grace (not her real name, but she was definitely filled with Grace). She would raise
her hands, she would clap at the end of the song, and at times she would just keep singing even though
the song had ended. I was absolutely captivated by her.
However, a slight problem came up when Ken started teaching and Grace wanted to keep on singing.
Ken would read a scripture and Grace would belt out “What a friend we have in Jesus”. Needless to say,
the other residents were not quite as appreciative of her zeal and Grace started to receive some rather
nasty looks. When I saw that Grace was not about to sit quietly and listen to the lesson, I went up to her
wheel chair and took her to the other side of the room, away from the others. We sat by the windows
with her back to the Bible Study and we talked and we sang. At one point I asked her how old she was
(It is OK to ask a women her age if it is obvious she is over ninety) and she responded with a smile,
“I’m 57” she said, and in her mind that’s exactly how old she was.
As we sat there, periodically she would raise her right hand, wave, and then mutter something. Finally I
asked her what she was doing and she told me that she was waving to people in the cars that passed by
the window and she was asking Jesus to protect them. I’ll tell you, it will be a long time before I will be
able to see a car pass by my window without thinking about Grace. I will always treasure the time I
spent with this elderly, frail women of God who was incapable of keeping silent about her love for
Jesus, who had to sing out His praises, and who prayed for complete strangers as they passed by her
window.
I exchanged 1 ½ hours of my life for a lifetime of memories. If that is not being blessed by God I don’t
know what is. Who knows, maybe God has a blessing just waiting for you at Legend Oaks Nursing
Home. The best way to find out is to go there on Thursday evening at 6:30PM. For more information
please contact Talina Plant at [email protected]
Don’t let anything rob you of the blessings God has waiting for you.
Your brother in Christ,
Jon

HI All! Summer is a busy time at the church when we get quite a few things accomplished that we
can not do when all activities are in full swing. I miss the excitement and energy level of the 170
children and 23 teachers of CLC during the week. What a blessing to have them at our church.
Here are some notes that you may be interested in or want to help with.
Building and Grounds notes: We need help with some of the gardens around our church. Please let me know if you would be willing to
help! It could be a great family or class project!
The parking lot work has been completed except for waiting for the hydromulch to grow so we can remove
the silt fences. Thank you for your patience during this process.
A special thanks to Marty Vannatter who is working closely with the contractor and Compliance resources
folks to ensure that all is completed according to plan. The entire site team has put in a lot of time on this
project. Be sure and thank them for their dedication and help.
I have been told by the county that they plan on completing the road in front of the church either this week or
next week. How wonderful will that be!
The new LED sign has been installed and is displaying messages to the large number of vehicles traveling on
1626. May God be glorified and people draw to His church.
Financial Notes: ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE – Please. Every year, the tithes and offerings drop during the summer creating
a unpleasant financial condition, so here is the CHALLENGE! Let’s make this summer different! Will you
commit with me to ensure that the work of the church is well funded so we can achieve all that God has
ordained for us. Summer is a very expensive time of the year with a lot of youth and children’s activities and
maintenance / upgrades to our facility. Lets’ make the Lord’s work a priority during the summer as we ensure
that our tithes and offerings get to the church even when we are away.
Many folks are enjoying the convenience of credit cards and bill pay services that are available at everyone’s
bank. If you have any questions on how to do this, please feel free to give me a call. I will be happy to discuss
with you.
Thank you in advance for your faithfulness! May God be glorified in all we do!
Special Missions Notes: I am so excited about the work of our REACH OUT Teams that are committed to touching the lives of those
outside our church. If you would like to join a team, please give me a call.
If you have any questions, or if I can be of further assistance, please let me know. May all we do Glorify Him!!
From Pastor David
Hays Hills folks, “I do all things for the sake of the gospel, so that I may become a fellow partaker of it.” 1 Corinthians 9:23 What does it mean to do all things for the sake of the gospel? It means your today’s life—right now—is filled with decisions and sacrifices for the sake of the gospel. And these today decisions accumulate with other days’ decisions for a prize-winning life! “Run in such a way that you may win.” (vs 24) What does it mean to be a fellow partaker of the gospel? It means to be a partner with others in the gospel movement. What a privilege! Puritan prayer “Thou hast given me a fixed disposition to go forth and spend my life for Thee; If it be Thy will let me proceed in it; if not, then revoke my intentions. All I want in life is such circumstances as may best enable me to serve Thee in the world; To this end I leave all my concerns and rights in Thy hand, but let me not be discouraged, for this hinders my spiritual fervency; Enable me to undertake some task for Thee, for this refreshes and animates my soul, so that I could endure all hardships and labours, and willingly suffer for Thy name.” Join the movement: the greatest resistance movement in history, led by the greatest leader in history, against the greatest foe in history. Get off the sidelines! I keep hearing great reports from our ministry teams! Pray for Kids Heroes camp! Pastor David
