AVSP’s Annual Sports Awards Dinner

AVSP’s Annual Sports Awards Dinner was a another fun night of awards and celebrations.

Athletes, their families and friends and AVSP staff all enjoyed an evening of award presentations.

The evening’s excitement began immediately as the room began to fill up in anticipation of the

accomplishments of the Community Center participants.

Awards were given for basketball, volleyball, soccer,

team sports, softball, kickball, bowling and

recognition awards. Members of the Community

Center actively planned the Awards Dinner and also participated as speakers and masters of

ceremonies. A Special thank you to Theo Rossi

who also attended and assisted in presenting some

of the awards. Also, a special thank you to our

Guest Speaker Broderick Simpson. The

Community Center is AVSP’s resource for

recreational activities on weekday, evenings and

Saturday mornings for people aged 18 and over. Many sports are offered on a seasonal basis,

while others are offered upon request of the individual participants.

Eagle Scout Leadership Service Projects Our thanks to the Eagle Scout Leadership Service

Project and the Boy Scout Troop 37 conducted by

Brendan Brown and Steven Kaht for working on

repainting the fencing and bollard posts at our New

Dorp Lane Center. Also Jack Fegeley from Boy Scout

Troop 19 for the landscaping project at the Benton

Residence. They did a terrific job!

BNP Paribas Volunteer Day 2016 It was another great day with the Changenators of

BNP Paribas Bank. They spent the entire day with us

and volunteered at Quintard, New Dorp Center and

Harvest Cafe. The volunteers exercised, cooked,

crafted and planted flowers. A special thank you for

their donation of flowers for

our sites which they planted
