Need More Time to File Your Tax Return? Not everyone is able to file their federal income tax return by the Monday, April 15th, dead-line. If you are in this category, you must file IRS Form 4868 to request an extension to October 15th. However, there are some things to keep in mind:
Filing an extension does not provide any additional time to pay your tax. Therefore, you need to estimate the amount of tax you will owe and pay that prior to
April 15th. If the IRS believes your estimate was not reasonable, it may void your extension.
Here is the link to Form 4868: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4868.pdf As always, please consult a qualified tax accountant if you have any questions.
As fiduciaries, who look out for your best interests, we would be happy to meet with you to review your investments. Please call Brian Korb, PhD, CFA, CFP® at (830) 643-2027 or email him at [email protected].

MOW a Family Tradition My appreciation for the Meals-On-Wheels program began with my parents Earl & Ava Ev-ans. They were very active members, volunteers, and donors of the Rainbow Senior Center during the 1980’s and 1990’s. Dad was the model for the man in the painting “Seniors Today & Tomorrow” painted in 1999 for the Rainbow Senior Center. Occasionally I would help them deliver MOW. After I retired in 1999 I began to volunteer once a week as a regular MOW driver. I like to say “I’m your Tuesday gal ! “ to my MOW clients. When I started de-livering meals the Rainbow Senior Center was meeting in the gym at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. At that time there was only one route for MOW with about 25 meals delivered daily. I often say “I’m # 1 ” that is I’m still route 1. I think it is a great program providing a nutritious hot meal and a valuable wellness check on home bound residents. I have helped with many small tasks such as opening jars, replacing light bulbs, bringing in papers & mail,
etc. Many times clients have needed assistance to get up off the
floor after a fall. I have also called police & EMS for people who needed medical help. About 12 years ago I proposed a project to The Boerne Garden Club . We buy & deliver poinsettias to the MOW clients in early December. I am exposing a new genera-tion to MOW. During the summer my granddaughters, Reese, Riley, & Reagan Burkey, have helped me deliver MOW. They thought it was great fun. Over the years I have watched this pro-gram grow to 7 routes and extended into Comfort and Fair Oaks Ranch. It has been my pleasure to serve my community through the Meals-On-Wheels program. Edith Burkey

• Nutritious ready-to-eat meals will be prepared especially for you at our center.
• Every Monday through Friday, we will deliver your meal directly to your door.
• Along with each meal delivery, you will receive a warm smile from a friendly face.
What is the cost?
The charge for the meal is a voluntary contribution of $3.00 per meal; however, at the Rainbow Senior
Center, we will continue services to anyone regardless of his/her ability to pay. This program is not
restricted by age. If you are interested in enrolling yourself or a loved one in Meals on Wheels, contact
Colleen Housley, Meals on Wheels Coordinator, at 830-249-2114 ext. 203.
Transportation
Two vans are dedicated to bringing seniors to and from the center. We encourage riders to schedule trips
at least a day in advance to secure transportation, and we accept voluntary contributions from riders to
support the program. The transportation program is also used, when available, to help those take trips to
the grocery store, pick up prescriptions and go to doctor appointments. Rides are $2 one way or $3
round trip inside 10 miles and $4 one way and $5 round trip outside of 10 miles.
Home Health Closet
The Home Health Closet provides access for all people in the community to used and new durable medi-
cal equipment. All equipment is loaned out at no charge and regardless of age or income. We carry
standard walkers, seated walkers, canes, crutches, shower chairs, transfer benches, bedside commodes,
and wheelchairs. We are always taking donations of new or gently used equipment.
