Dominic’s Guide to Being Head Boy

• Always be on your best behaviour

• Make good friends with everyone in the school. If you have a brother or sister at the school you can ask them to help you with this.

• Finally enjoy every moment of it. This may be the only chance you ever get to be Head Boy!

Year 1 and Year 2 Multiskills Competition On Wednesday 23rd November we all got our House colour bibs on and went to the hall. We did three challenges to get points for our Houses. We had to do throwing carefully, throwing as far as we could and travelling and balancing. The Year 4 children added up all of our points and the win-ning House was Water. We had great fun and can’t wait until our next House competition. Denis McMorrow (Class 2B) Year 1 and 2 Multiskills

Class 4G’s visit to the Degas Exhibition On Tuesday 6th December Class 4G went to visit the Royal Academy with Mrs Rauh, to see the Degas Exhibition. One thing we learned was that Degas was really interested in movement, light and the ballet. He painted lots of dancers, some resting, some waiting and some dancing. We had two guides at the gallery who told us everything about Degas and ex-plained the paintings to us. I really loved Degas’ little dancer. I liked how much detail he put into the sculpture. When we got back to school Mrs Rauh did a workshop with us. We used charcoal and chalk pastels and did drawings of ballet dancers like Degas. We had a great day and we all learned so much about Degas. Niamh Gadd and Penelope Batts (Class 4G)

Year 6 Trip to Chelsea Football Stadium During November both Year 6 classes went on a trip to Chelsea FC Stadium. This was organised to complement our History topic on World War II. While we were there we met Michael Foreman, the illustrator of ‘Billy the Kid’ - the book we have been studying in class. He talked to us about his childhood and what it is like to be an illustrator and author, it was amazing. We went to the Chelsea museum to play games and to learn more about Chelsea’s his-tory. Then we went on a tour of the stadium and 6G saw Torres, Frank Lampard and JUSTIN BIEBER!!!! We went up into the press conference room and the press box. We also went in the changing rooms and got to see all of the players’ shirts, their kitchen and massage lounge. We noticed that the Chelsea players had many more things in their changing rooms than the visiting teams. They had a TV, music and 6 massage beds, while the visiting teams had none. We were really amazed by the stadium and especially the pitch. It was all clean and had no bits of grass sticking out. We hope that our school will be able to organise this visit every year. Charles de Thomasson (Class 6 B) and Danielle Greig (Class 6G)

Year 4 handball tournament From the start of the year we have had handball training. Last Monday Year 4 had a House handball tournament. The Houses were split in half and played each other twice. Earth won with 26 points, Fire came 2nd with 16 and Water and Air finished 3rd and 4th. After, Miss C Davis and Mr Garvin announced which House had won and Earth were amazed when they heard the result. The teachers were especially proud of everyone for trying their best and demonstrating excellent teamwork. The Year 3 children also had a House handball competition and the Year 3 champions were Air. Dipo Idowu and Camilla Neffy (Class 4B)

CNED Support at Larmenier (CNED=centre national d’enseignement à distance) This is a government organised system which is recognised in all schools in France. Support is currently being given to 13 Larmenier French speak-ing pupils who are following the French curriculum in parallel with their English studies. It is very hard work for these chil-dren to combine the English and French systems and these extra classes give an opportunity to increase their knowledge. These lessons also provide vital help to the French community at Larmenier and we feel they do much to enhance the interna-tional vision of the school. Thank you Sr Hannah for all your support. Clarisse Motais de Narbonne

Reception Nativity Christmas Concert The children in Acorn and Willow class made their parents and teachers proud on Tuesday, 13th December when they performed their Christmas Show. For most of the children it was the first time they had performed on stage to an au-dience and their thoroughly enjoyed themselves! The chil-dren told the story of the birth of Jesus through words, music, song and acting. Sr Hannah commented on their beautiful costumes and their even more beautiful smiles. The children baked some mince pies to offer to their par-ents after the performance. It was a lovely end to their first term at school. Miss S Davis and Miss Flaherty

Year 3 Advent Service at Westminster Cathedral On 6th December Year 3 set off to Westminster Cathedral to watch the Christmas Advent Carol Service and the re-enactment of The Christmas Story from Joseph’s perspective. We had been practising hymns for the Service for a few weeks and enjoyed the thoroughly experience of singing in the beautiful Cathedral. What made the afternoon even more memora-ble was that there was a real donkey that neighed its way down the aisle. It was a lovely way to prepare for the birth of Jesus.
