Clarifications
1. The bid due date is Thursday, March 25th, by 2:00PM. (Email submissions only)
2. All bidders and subcontractors must have a worker’s compensation Experience Modification
Rate (EMR) of 1.0 or less or be subject to rejection.
3. Section 00 8304 Bid Package 5.04 Abatement, Selective & Structural Demo (PLA), Bid
Package Notes:
Note 01.30 DELETE the last sentence and REPLACE with: All other items shall be
removed (by 5.04), packaged (by 5.04) (shrink wrapped) for pickup and storage by others
except the bookcases in the Media Center, the risers in the Auditorium and the acoustical
folding band shells in the Auditorium will be removed and stored by others. Include a
submittal comprised of photographs and an inventory list of all items being salvaged. This
submittal must be approved prior to any removals. All diving boards in the Natatorium will
be removed and salvaged by others. Six large indoor/outdoor speakers in the Gym shall be
removed (by 5.04), packaged (by 5.04) (shrink wrapped) for pickup and storage by others.
Note 01.45 DELETE the last sentence and REPLACE with: Include a separate
mobilization to remove ceiling systems, MEP items and perform selective demolition as
required at the beginning of the Project to accommodate installation of temporary walls
(refer to Life Safety Plans, Add. 1) and installation of conduits to refeed all the BOE
electrical panels from the BOE/Temp Electrical Service location. The first floor corridor
outside the Welcome Center ceiling demolition work shall be performed off hours.
Note 01.47 DELETE entirely and REPLACE with: Removal of exterior underground
storage tanks are by others. Include removal of all interior tanks including the oil/water
separator and hydraulic lift tank in the Auto Shop Building. Include removal of the small
exterior, above ground, waste oil tank on the West side of the Auto Shop. Include disposal
of all liquids. Assume all tanks are full.
Note 01.81 DELETE entirely and REPLACE with: Include removal of all embedded or
attached items from all concrete floors, walls and decks including but not limited to MEP
piping, conduit, light supports, floor drains, sleeves, bolts, clips, cleanouts, etc.. For
electrical boxes include removal of all surface mounted boxes flush to the existing concrete.
Include removal of 200 recessed electrical boxes as directed by the Construction Manager.
Patching is by others.
4. Section 00 8310 Bid Package 5.10 Site Prep, Bid Package Notes:
Note 01.22 DELETE entirely and REPLACE with: Staging Areas/Access Roads: The
stone area in existing grass areas East of the Gym and at the Southeast corner of the site
(existing soft ball field) and access roads as shown on SL-01 are the responsibility of this
contractor and shall be constructed as follows: Strip 12” of topsoil from staging areas in

existing grass areas. Stockpile all material generated from these areas on the football field
for characterization and disposal by others. Include a silt fence around the perimeter of the
pile, cover drains and provide additional erosion control measures as required to
accommodate the stockpile. Include polyethylene under the pile and a polyethylene cover in
accordance with Section 02 6113 Excavation, Handling, Transportation and Disposal of
Excavated Materials, Part 2.2 (assume long term storage). Remove the existing irrigation
lines, structures and backflow valve as encountered. Proof roll the area and install geotextile
fabric and 8” of compacted processed stone or recycled base. The heavy duty access road to
the Southeast staging area shall be a minimum of 24’ wide. Provide compacted structural fill
as required so the slope of the road does not exceed 10%. Stabilize slopes as required.
Include removal of all site hardscapes, site lighting and site amenities as required to perform
this work. All staging areas and access roads will be removed by others.
Note 01.25 DELETE entirely and REPLACE with: Staging Area North of the BOE
Parking Lot (turquoise on Drawings SL-01): Remove islands and all curbing as shown on
SL-01. All excavations in this paved area (gas line, tank removal, island/curb removals, tree
removals) shall be back filled with imported compacted structural fill capped with 8” of
compacted ¾” processed stone flush with the existing paving. All excavated material from
this area shall be stockpiled in the WSA for characterization and removal by others. Remove
7 existing trees and stumps- (4) at the islands on the West side of this staging area and (3) on
the South side of this staging area (just North of the temp fence separating the BOE Parking
from the staging area). Demolish site lighting and light bases in all staging/laydown areas.
Demolish basketball poles/backboards at the East side of the Gym.
Note 01.26 DELETE the second sentence and REPLACE with: The existing light poles
and bases at the West side of the tennis courts shall be removed.
Note 01.31 DELETE entirely and REPLACE with: All excavated material generated
from the existing grassed staging areas shall be stockpiled on the football field per Note
01.25 for characterization and disposal by others. All other excavated material from this
scope of work shall be stockpiled in the WSA for characterization and disposal by others.
All excavations shall be back filled with imported compacted structural fill capped with 8” of
compacted ¾” processed stone flush with adjacent surfaces unless otherwise noted.
Note 01.41 DELETE entirely and REPLACE with: Include installation of a temporary
water main from the existing meter pit at Ledyard to the staging area and CM trailer area.
Install a 2” stub adjacent to the meter pit. Continue a 1” water service to the staging area
and CM trailer area. See Site Logistics Plan for location. Include non-freeze yard hydrants
at each location, (2) 1” and (1) 2” (3 total). Coordinate all requirements with MDC. MDC
fees are by others.
A02.01 There are seven conex storage containers on site. Include relocation of the storage
containers as follows:
(3) Relocate to another onsite location as directed by the Construction Manager.
(4) Relocate to another school in the City of Hartford.
Containers will be emptied by others.
5. Section 00 4109 Bid Proposal Form BP 5.10 Site Prep: DELETE Entirely and REPLACE

6. Section 00 8311 Bid Package 5.11 Temporary Fence, Bid Package Notes: ADD
A02.02 Include scrim on the North elevation of the temporary fence separating the BOE
Parking area from the Contractor Staging Area.
7. Section 00 8301 Bid Package 5.01 Building Cleanout, Bid Package Notes:
Note 01.25 After the last sentence ADD: Include an additional 64 man hours to remove
additional items in the Gym as directed by the Construction Manager.
8. Section 00 8308 Bid Package 5.08 Temporary Electric, Bid Package Notes:
Note 01.29 DELETE the last sentence and REPLACE with: Provide a new dialer and
include two new copper phone lines from the demarc in the Auto Shop to the new dialer.
Note 01.30 DELETE entirely and REPLACE with: Include a new Sonitrol security panel
in the Auto Shop in accordance with the response to RFI 021 except as noted. Maintain
connectivity to the Storage Building. Engage Sonitrol as required. Provide a new dialer and
include two new copper phone lines from the demarc in the Auto Shop to the new dialer.

ALTERNATES
For firms with a bonding capacity provide an alternate bid to provide performance and payment
bonds for the full contract sum. This Alternate is a voluntary alternate as bonds are not required
for set aside bidders. For firms without bonding capacity indicate N/A.

UNIT PRICES
The undersigned proposes and agrees that the following unit prices shall be the basis for computing extra costs to the contract for additional or deleted work. Unit prices shall include costs for all materials, equipment, tools, small tools, labor, permits, fees, overhead, profit, supervision, home office support, pro-ject management, estimating, safety, travel, shop drawings and as built drawings for all parties involved in the work. Unit prices shall apply to both the trade contractors and their subcontractors. All work is to be accomplished in accordance with applicable Sections of the Specifications. The Construction Manager reserves the right to selectively reject any of the unit prices without any effect on the remainder of the bid.

2 - To enter into and execute a contract, if awarded on the basis of this bid, according to the contract form listed in the Bidding and Contract Requirements. Please clarify the requirements for the security to be maintained at
the storage building. Note ED21 says to maintain connectivity between
auto shop and storage building. Is a new panel required in the auto
shop and are any provisions needed?

Scope for the security system in the storage building is not
required by this contract (new Sonitrol for this building to be
handled through the District). ED21 is in refefence to the
building power, not communications or security. The
