Become an engineering technician. Put engineering theory into practice and perform technical operations to professional standards. Specialise in civil and mechanical engineering. The diploma is accredited nationally and internationally.
You’ll gain the skills and attributes required by Engineering New Zealand, which are benchmarked internationally and accredited to the Dublin Accord.
EMPLOYMENT PATHWAY
For the civil engineering strand roles include working on roads, buildings and utilities; for the mechanical engineering strand roles include the design, manufacture and maintenance of tools, engines, machines and systems.
New Zealand Diploma in Engineering
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN?
Mechanical engineering• CAD• Mechanics• Materials• Fluid mechanics• Thermodynamics and heat transfer• Strength of materials• Manufacturing processes
Civil engineering• Land surveying• Civil and structural drawing• Hydraulics• Highway engineering• Geotechnical engineering• Water systems• Waste systems• Structures
EDUCATION PATHWAY
Graduates of the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering will be able to study towards a technologist degree such as Bachelor of Engineering Technology, or a professional engineering qualification such as Bachelor of Engineering.
For those employed within the industry, the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering Practice builds upon the academic learning gained in the NZDE, and can enable graduates to become a certified Engineering Technician and gain Associate Membership of Engineering New Zealand and/or apply to the Engineering Associate Registration Board to become a registered engineering associate.
